This would be a fantastic addition, especially for those of us with remote sites.

Maybe something like a Maintenance Window for Content Distribution that could be set at the DP Group level? And an 'override' tickbox when kicking of a content update.

That would let us decide whether to wait for off hours for content to distribute, or kick one off right away when the need is urgent or non-impactful.

I agree with the other comments. Applications aren't going to work in 100% of use cases. They're obviously the best for software installs and upgrades, but there is always going to be value in the ability to simply run some command lines on a client on a schedule (or on demand by the user) without the need to process a detection rule.

As Martin mentioned, Applications are also limited in regards to content distribution compared to Packages.

Glad I'm not the only one. I was wondering if I'd done something wrong.

I can think of half a dozen ways to use this. Would be great to be able to fuzz out the passwords in the log files as well. TBH, I could live with it being visible in the console, it's what an end user might be able to dig out of the logs that is more worrying.

    Yes, please.

I can't enforce strict reboots for non-technical reasons, but I can certainly pop up nag windows. Something that would allow the user to postpone reboots after updates for a decreasing amount of time each loop would be fantastic.

I'd love have a setting to allow the cache to use up disk until x% free space is remaining and another to tune how long content persists in cache.

The first could be system-wide and the second per Application.

That way, if I have a gigantic application to roll out, we can let it use up a large portion of disk for a short amount of time, and then shrink itself back down after a completed install.
