  1. User friendly progress tracking when distributing content to distribution points.

User friendly progress tracking when distributing content to distribution points. At the moment when asked how long it will take to have content available one needs to track the logs and guess a time frame. If it would be possible to have a progress tracker i.e. speed at which the content is copying, queue tracking, and eta.

    • ADR Available Deployments

I would like to see ADR's support the creation of Available deployments in addition to Required deployments. We have some business cases where a certain subset of servers are aren't allowed to "push" software updates to until the server/app owners have verified the patches.

The issue is that these servers don't have connectivity to the internet so we have to deliver them via ConfigMgr. By creating an Available update using an ADR, it streamlines our ability to "deliver" the updates to all systems, and allow the Patching Team, or App/Server owner to patch according to their own business schedules.

      • Console device view should allow search/filter by MAC address

We find ourselves trying to go from MAC address to device in the console fairly regularly, especially when troubleshooting things like PXE from the logs (which only shows MAC address) and needing to kill off failed OSD records (which may be named "Unknown" or have a random computer name in ConfigMgr, but you're now in WinPE ready to kick off the TS again, but only have the MAC from ipconfig /all to ID the old record).

The MAC addresses are already being pulled by Heartbeat inventory, but you can't search/filter of part/all of the MAC address.

        Thank you for making…

          • When Expiring Updates based on Supersedence Rules also Decline them in WSUS

When SCCM expires updates based on the configured Supersedence Rules it only does so in SCCM, not WSUS. Additionally, SCCM does not approve updates in WSUS.
Because of these two facts the WSUS Cleanup Wizard will never decline superseded updates. They are neither expired (as they are in SCCM) nor are their superseding updates approved (a requirement for the WSUS Cleanup Wizard). This causes a bloated Update Catalog that can cause very real client issues. There are scripts available to handle this situation but this is the last mile issue in regards to WSUS maintenance. If the product declined the…

            • Better Driver and Driver Package Management

Driver Management within the console is unacceptably slow (still). We manage 60+ unique Models across Windows 7 all the way up through Windows 10. As a result there are a LOT of drivers to maintain and manage. With SCCM 2007, we had the ability to at least break these down in folders. With sccm 2012 you removed the ability to import directly to a folder. The trade-off was "categories" however, it is still incredibly slow to search for drivers.

In addition, with SCCM 2007, we could just fill a folder with inf's and create a driver package from that without…

              • Software Updates - Need an Option to Control the Auto deployment of Revised updates

WSUS has an inbuilt option to control the approval /Auto Approval of revised updates.
However ConfigMgr is missing this feature. This is causing the revised updates to get auto installed on the clients if the deployment is active.
The latest example for this issue was KB3172605. This was revised by MS and caused auto install with reboot on clients

                • Remote Control of Mobile devices using SCCM/Intune

SCCM/Intune is lacking one very important feature for MDM - Remote Control of Mobile devices(Windows Phone, IOS, Android platform) which is crucial for enterprises which have big departments whose employees are remote workers and uses tablets or/and phones as primary business tool and often require remote support on this devices. This feature is already implemented in almost any serious MDM solution on market for a while.

                  • Folder Structure in Software Center

It would be great if we could create folder structure in Software Center and place different applications in different folders.

It's impossible now to have all of our 500+ applications as available without having another portal for order applications since we can group applications easily and Users can find theirs app easy.

                    • More Intelligent Client Cache

With SCCM 2012 we got the single instance store on the back end which reduces the need for storage significantly on the server side but on the client side there's no optimization whatsoever.
If you for example have 2 applications or deployment types which are using the same or almost the same content they are downloaded both separately. This has a negatively impact on the disk space you need to reserve for the client cache but also on the bandwidth used to download almost twice the same content. I believe this can be done better.
                      Many folks had to configure…

                      • Virtual environment management

We cannot have AppV connection groups be successfully managed by current branch SCCM Virtual Environments.
                        It looks like:
                        - an application cannot be part of more than one virtual environment
                        AND
                        - an application cannot have more than one deployment type in a virtual environment

According to what can be found in the documentation, it should be possible to achieve what we want.
                        - Old whitepaper (not anymore officially available, but we still have it): http://www.getonict.nl/docs/app-v-5-configuration-manager-2012-sp1-integration.pdf “Applications are allowed to be in multiple virtual environments to allow a single package to communicate with multiple, separate applications.”

                          • Built-in Web Service for OSD tasks

Maik Koster has created an excellent Web Service for performing tasks e.g. during OSD, like removing a device from a collection. I think it would be a great idea to have a Site System Role for OSD where you have a built-in step in the TS to choose various tasks to perform during OSD.

At the moment it is not easy to add requirements to an application deploymenttype with PowerShell. I think many of us would benefit if this would be simplified.

(correction: this change was too late for 1704, it will be in 1705)

For 1705 TP we have added an initial ability to add detection method clauses to a MSI, Script, or Mac deployment type.

                                For more details see: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/ameltzer/2017/04/20/powershell-how-to-add-enhanced-detection-methods-to-deployment-types-1704-tp/

Please try it out and let us know what you think. We don’t have full UI parity yet but this is something we are working toward.

                              • Improved automation and extensibility by exposing Configuration Manager functionality through a REST web API

Exposing Configuration Manager functionality through RESTful web API's would open up a whole new world for interacting with ConfigMgr.
E.g. a web Admin console and easier integration with Service Management Automation (SMA).
It should also be easier for 3rd party vendors to create new web based solutions for say an self-service portal or a Windows App for tracking an OS or application deployment on a mobile device or phone.
Personally I would really like any easier way to interact with ConfigMgr. when running in Windows PE (OS Deployment) or a web portal for non-admins to provision new or existing machine…

                                • Add the ability to deploy and manage drivers post OS deployment

what would be great to see is a mechanism which would allow for the deployment of drivers to client computers post the OSD. ideally it would be fantastic if it can use the same driver package as is used in the OS Deployment to save the administrative overhead needing to have 2 different ways to deploy updated drivers like we need to today where we package the drivers for OS deployment, while to deploy to the existing hardware we need to depend upon the vendors installation package which in some cases don't allow silent installation so requires a large amount…

                                  • Perform AD discoveries from servers other than Site Server

In flat SCCM infrastructure deployment across multiple domains it becomes troublesome to perform User/Group/Forest/System discoveries in domains other than Site Server domain, especially in DMZ, this is because Site Server has to be able to talk to other domains domain controllers and security requirements not always allow that.

This could be improved upon if we could choose to perform AD related discoveries from Site Systems (for example MP or specialized role for that purpose) other than Site Server as illustrated in the picture attached.

                                    • SCCM client ScriptExecutionTimeout

Please make the SCCM client's ScriptExecutionTimeout attribute a parameter that can be configured within Client Settings policy. This would be the best way to help address the "In-line script execution time-out... DiscoverApp failed (0x87d00321)

                                      • Allow the Client Upgrade to be performed outside maintenance windows

We would like the Client Upgrade feature to allow the client to be upgraded outside of maintenance windows but also give the option to only install when no user is logged in, like deploying Applications allow.

                                        • Allow us to pre-provision appx application types in the Task Sequence

ConfigMgr supports .appx deployment, but sometimes we want these on every machine, so our preferred way would be to do this in the Task Sequence.

Currently, the Add Application step in the Task Sequence doesn't let us browse for .appx packages.

Please consider adding support these during OSD.
