  1. Variable with Full OU path

Take the OU path from 'Network Settings" and turn it into a variable e.g. _SMSMachineOUpath
I use dynamic variables to determine the OU based on location and device so my Domain OU path has OU=%devicetype%,OU=Location,OU=workstations,DC=Contoso,DC.com
so it would be nice to have the actual value in a variable that I can reference later say in a script to move existing object to the above created OU. I can see the full path in the SMSTS.log, but not in a variable. Also removing the LDAP:\ from the start could be handy in some situations I guess.

    Hi Marty,

Vlad ask to pass this on:

He can try at the beginning of TS to add steps to set variables that I listed in my reply to the same strings that he entered in the UI of Network Settings step? Which will result in Network Settings step take the values from these global variables (not from UI, even though they may be the same). But it will also have a side effect that these variables will be available during task sequence for whatever he wants to user them for.

I’ll have a bit of time at the weekend. I’ve a couple of ideas about removing the LDPA:\\ you mentioned. Can you describe the scenario you want to address, please?

    Thanks

  2. Add a Count column to the boundary view

When managing a large amount of IP range in boundary, it can be hard to clean up or fix errors in the boundaries. Adding a column Count, providing the number of clients within this boundary could be helpful.

  4. Driver recommendation as column to filter on

The "Plan Assets\Drivers" view does not allow to filter by the "Drivers Needing Remediation" categories (inbox, import from WU, inbox+WU...).

Such column will simplify quickly identifying all the drivers that need to be imported from WU in one go, instead of going one by one looking at their details.

  5. Service Connection Tool - don't overwrite log after each run

By its very nature the ServiceConnectionTool requires several runs in order to fully complete its job. Prepare ā€¦ export ā€¦ connect ā€¦ import. Each run of the tool overwrites the log file.

It would be preferable (imho) that the tool appended to the log file instead, so that a full record of the entire offline transaction is available.

Thanks in advance, and you're welcome.

  7. Fix include membership rules so that they properly automatically replicate collection membership changes based on incremental updates

As we discovered via premier call (ticket #:16602356). If you use an include or exclude collection rule it is supposed to automatically update the collection membership of the including collection if the included collection membership changes.

It does this properly if your included collection membership changes due to direct memberships or queries if using a full collection schedule. It also works if you trigger a manual collection update of the included collection or the including collection.

However it does NOT work if your included collection uses solely incremental collection updating. The included collection membership changes itself just fine, however theā€¦

  8. sccm client icon must always visible in system tray, so that users can see that updates are available to install

Because many of my users only logon once a week after the weekend. If updates are available for install this users only see a message when they logon after the weeked and this only for a few seconds. I would like that my users can see all the time that updates are available just as it was whit wsus and the windows update icon

  9. Colorize CMLogViewer lines

Similar to CMTrace, it would be nice if error lines showed up with a red background. It would be so much easier to find them, then.

  10. Possibility of Software Center Application Catalog updating on Program-Start

It would be very usefull, if the Software Center could be set to automatically trigger actions like Mashine Policy Retrieval and Evaluation Cycle, Application Deployment Evaluation Cycle etc. when running it.
Displaying a loading icon to show Software Center is looking for new Applications would be charming.

It could also be a "refresh application catalog" or "searching for new applications" button somewhere integraded within the Software Center.

This would help a lot to avoid users asking "where is the app, I cant see it..."

  11. Allow the downloading of the SCCM version upgrade hot-fix files

Every time we have an upgrade to complete there hot-fixes to apply. The process at this time is to wait for SCCM to finalize the update process. Re-install the console, and then request Updates and Servicing to check in for an update then download this process can take a long time. Then we can sit and the hot fix to complete the job. Sometimes there multiple hot-fixes to apply.
If there was the ability to download the hot fixes in advance this would cut the time on update date by 90 minutes in my environment.

  13. Software Center Maintenance TAB

Have a maintenance TAB in Software Center where repeatable tasks can be published and executed without the deployment status features, e.g. where a deployment is run and the status changes to Installed.

An example of a maintenance task could be running SCCM client actions in command line format but presented to the user in a friendly manner, this would make sense as Software Center has become the focus for SCCM.

Another example could be to installed printers again using command line options in a user friendly format. This is very similar to the features that are offered by Mac Selfā€¦

  14. Fully allow Win32_DeviceGuard to be queryable in CMPivot

After manually adding Win32_DeviceGuard, https://cloudblogs.microsoft.com/enterprisemobility/2015/10/30/managing-windows-10-device-guard-with-configuration-manager/ some of the properties aren't exposed in CMPivot: Specifically, SecurityServicesConfigured and SecurityServicesRunning. This makes it difficult to gather whether or not CredentialGuard is enabled.

  15. Inform a user when an application has been closed by an installing package

    Running 1906 with hotfix.
When using the option to "Automatically close any running executables you specified..." while deploying a product which needs an application closed, when the deadline is reached the applications are closed, but there is no notification to the user as to why. If in front of their machine, the user will then invariably re-open the application (especially if this is Outlook) which will cause the installation to fail.
I would suggest that when the application is automatically close, a message box is shown informing the user what's happened which stays on screen until the installation is complete,ā€¦

  16. Allow copying step from read-only task sequence view

Following on from the excellent view only option added to task sequences - https://configurationmanager.uservoice.com/forums/300492-ideas/suggestions/20361052-task-sequence-view-only-option - can we have the ability to copy a task sequence step from this view? We can already copy text from e.g. Run Command Line but we can't copy task sequence steps themselves or view conditions on steps in a way that allows copying text from them so we still need to open the task sequence in Edit mode to do this.

  17. Include Right Click Option to delete from multiple Roles

When right clicking a Device Collection or just a Computer Name in SCCM can you add the option of deleting not just from the SCCM Console but from AD and WSUS? One click option to delete from all 3 areas at the same time? This would help alot managing assets and cleanup.

  18. BoundaryEx

This SQL table has to important columns NumbaricValueLow and NumericValueHigh. Using these columns along with the fnGetNumericIPAddress function, you can create reports that will help with troubleshooting of SCCM clients. As such, it would be great to have SQL view create based on this table that can be used for reporting.

  19. Provide consistemcy check for CMG Region

In the CMG Setup console it is possible to select a region for the CMG deployment which is not consistent with the p precreated resource group. Then the CMG deployment will obviously fail.

  20. Management Point Admin. It would be great to have a Management Point folder under Administration, with reports and MP health checks.

We recently added a new MP to a trusted domain, and modified the boundaries, so client on that domain would only connect to that MP. We have no way of checking if this is working. A simple list of clients connected to which MP would be super helpful. We would be able to tell from a list which domains these clients are on and if they are connected to the correct MP. Also health info of the MPs, trolling through logs ain't fun. A quick easy look at MP health status to tell if something needs investigating.
