  1. Revamp of RBAC

Currently RBAC is confusing and very messy and with all of the new features its getting even more so. Some clean up to RBAC and especially how Security Scopes function (I've yet to see a single company really implement them effectively) would be very nice. Wondering if maybe even using some of the analytics gained from companies some better 'default' rbac groups could be created.

  2. Update (CUs) behavoiur on Reports (Report Re-Creation)

All MS reports are recreated/overwritten during an update, no matter whether something has changed or not. The update logic checks whether the report has been modified, if so, an ā€˜OLDā€™ version will be created to prevent that individual changes on the default reports will get overwritten. A manual clean-up is necessary afterwards, but mostly nothing has changed anyway within the updated report --> only reports that have changed should be recreated/updated to ease checks on whether modifications are needed.

  3. Add WSUS Catalog #s to a Supported SQL View.

With the SQL view vSMS_SUPSyncStatus, there is a column SyncCatalogVersion. This column allows you to see what version of the WSUS (pronounced ā€œWā€ ā€œSUSā€) catalog is available at each software update point (SUP). When troubleshooting CMCB environment with two or more SUP it is import to know what catalog is at each SUP server. The vSMS_SUPSyncStatus has many more details available to it as compared to any of the existing SUP SQL views.
So why is this information important? Knowing Catalog version #, sync date, sync status, etc. helps when troubleshooting SUP issues. This also allows for a dashboards/reports toā€¦

  4. OSD - task sequence media

when creating a stand alone media, a option to update an existing ISO would be great. also, would be great if you could create an iso and an extract of the iso (like on MDT) so when you copy the files using a slow link connection you only need to copy the changed files and not all files.

  5. Log to ETW

It would be handy if SCCM Agent (as well as the SCCM Server components) could send logs to ETW (instead or in addition to the files under C:\Windows\CCM\Logs) folder. That would allow us to redirect the events to a central location and analyze with event analysis tools, (i.e. OMS Log Analytics, Message Analyzer, etc.).

  6. Pre-Cache In-Place Upgrade - TS Variable to set OS Source

When doing a In-place upgrade and using Pre-Cache, the Task sequence process copies the needed files from Cache to \_SMSTaskSequence\packages. This process can take some time when the in-place upgrade media is more than 4GB. this is unnecessary, there should be a variable to say install the OS directly from cache, or like the task sequence step to Download package content have a variable for the pre-cached source files that can then be used to access the OS later when upgrading, so that the content does not have to be copied from cache to the \_SMSTaskSequence folder but rather accessedā€¦

  8. Track total client activity time using bgb data

Active clients should connect regularly to SCCM over the BGB status (it is what is used to determine if a client is 'online/offline' today). My organization tracks patch compliance closely, and part of that measure is determining if the client was online long enough in a given day to actually complete compliance related activities, such as installing the latest CU. We would like a way, likely using the BGB channel data, to determine how long a client is online in a given period of time, with flexibility to quantify by day, by week, by month, etc.

  9. Bug - Office 365 Deployment

Office 365 Client Installation deployment features in 1806 appear to be incomplete and problematic. Uninstall statements are not filled in for one. Application Catalog tab is not filled out either. For some reason, creating deployment sources using the new OCT link integration creates sources which are missing files and generates a 30821-1505 error. Running the setup.exe directly from the source also behaves the same. Running ODT manually appears to work, and the source can be imported into SCCM as it was in prior releases.

  11. Console Typo - Windows Update for business Profiles

In both the CM CB 1606UR1 and the CM TP 1609 admin consoles, the Windows Update for Business Profiles node needs the "B" in Business capitalized.

  13. Remove unused Vendor classifications from SUP

Remove unused Vendor classifications from SUP.

As l have been configuring SCCM 1806 with Third Party Patching, l am now left with unwanted Vendors being listed in SUP and SUP Reports.

    Can these be pruned/removed?

  14. Fix OSD Re-run Behavior

    Consider the following...

You Deploy an OSD TS to a Lab and the Lab images Successfully. Next year you wish to Refresh that same Lab. You deploy this TS to the lab with the default 'Re-run Behavior' and it immediately shows as Successful because it was run before. You do another schedule and switch the 'rerun behavior' to 'Always rerun.' Lab images, grabs policy, images, grabs policy, images.........

This seems like a huge flaw to me especially for those environments that Refresh certain Labs annually (K-12, Education). I'll now have to remember each Summer to either create a new TSā€¦

  15. deployment failed status doesn't re-eval after successful install

Deployment Status for certain clients can fail for a number of reasons; after manual install or successful repair, the Deployment Status does not re-evaluate. This makes compliance impossible to report! My compliance % always shows less than 100%, even though I was able to successfully cleanup the machines that failed due to error.

  16. Add support to extend more areas of the console

It would be nice to be able to extend the details tabs of for example the devices. What i would like to accomplish is a upgrade resistant way of having https://sccm-zone.com/extend-the-sccm-console-to-show-collection-membership-using-console-builder-c6db52b408d8. It could be added by default but it would be more useful if the console was able to merge any xml ontop of the original ones.

  17. Packages do not honor reboot exit code

When passing a 3010 or 1641 exit code from a program the execmgr reports "The exit code is 1641, the execution status is SuccessRebootRequired" but no reboot is actually pending on the system. Reboots from these exit codes do not change the reboot status and therefore never gets called.

  18. Make it easier to find Management POint log files

First the earth cooled, then SMS was developed.

Interestingly, the Management Point role uses some aspects of the ConfigMgr client to handle client communications, and thus stores some of the log files related to Management Point stuff (like MP_Registration.log!) in the ConfigMgr client folder.

This leads to countless forum posts like

    Helpless dude: 'Clients won't register',
    MyItForum: 'OK check MP Registration.log'
Helpless: 'I don't have that log!?'
MyItForum: 'OMG it's over here in this totally unrelated path'

It doesn't have to be this way.

    What if we :

A.) If a management point is also a configMgr site server, justā€¦

  19. Allow choosing from all available application icon sizes

When you create or modify an application and choose an icon for it from a file, I believe CM automatically chooses the first icon it sees from the index. In reality a single file can have multiple sizes and colors. It would be nice if CM could show you the list of available icon and sizes from the file index and let you choose which one to display.

  20. Add a new stage ("cloud users") for Co-Management

Add a fourth stage (ConfigMgr - Intune Pilot - Cloud Users - Intune) "Cloud users" in the Co-Management GUI.
Companies might have many users who can be Intune managed without having to be part of the pilot collection or having to wait for the entire organization to move to Intune.
