  1. Software Center Maintenance TAB

Have a maintenance TAB in Software Center where repeatable tasks can be published and executed without the deployment status features, e.g. where a deployment is run and the status changes to Installed.

An example of a maintenance task could be running SCCM client actions in command line format but presented to the user in a friendly manner, this would make sense as Software Center has become the focus for SCCM.

Another example could be to installed printers again using command line options in a user friendly format. This is very similar to the features that are offered by Mac Self…

  2. Software Center : Tooltip with the description of the application

Currently the message that appears when a cursor is positioned over an icon (tooltip), is the "application name" in Software Center
Instead of that, i would like to see in the tooltip the "application description".

  4. Support for customization of notification text in 'Required software changes…' dialog

The current 'Required software changes…' dialog only informs the user that 'The change will be applied after <deadline date> at <deadline time>, or you can apply the changes:…'. It would more empower the user for making a smarter decision when choosing to apply changes 'Right now (recommended)', 'Outside my business hours', or 'Snooze and remind me:' if the following additional information is provided on a per deployment basis:
    1. Estimated install time
    2. Indication of what apps will close
    3. Indication if a restart is expected
    4. Customization of notification text (i.e. ability for administrator to specify exact wording)

  5. Limit the number of times that a user is notified of availabl deployment. The used doesn't need to be notified at every login that they have

Limit the number of times that a user is notified of available deployment. The used doesn't need to be notified at every login that they have the same software available but they want to see all other notifications.

  6. Consolidate Software Center and Software Catalog to Web only

Move the Online Software Catalog to the left column in Software Center. Having find additional software under Installed Status doesn't make any sense. I'd prefer just to have the Web only version of Software Center/Catalog

  7. Standardize releases of SCCM Versions to twice a year instead of current frequency.

Standardize releases of SCCM Versions to twice a year instead of the current frequency of three times a year 2002, 2006 and 2010 and so on.

Please review the pattern of windows feature releases and a clear timeline on supportability for SCCM.

Please give a road map of supportability whether or not the customer has moved to co-management or not

SCCM Client Version supportability in line with Server Version. All these three may be clearly documented please.

  8. Would be good to be able to categorise software into different use groups

1/Would be good to be able to categorise software into different groups to make it easier for the user to find what they require (For example Analysing Software, Browsers, etc)
2/Have a field to explain what the software does (save the user having to web search products)

  9. Revise wording of overused alert "Software center can not be loaded".

The alert stating that SWC itself can not be loaded is displayed prominently over the SWC application running on-screen. Add either more details as to the actual reason for this dialog, like in other areas in the product, or separate messages to describe the fault less generally and with more suitable advice than "try later' as appropriate.

This is specifically not a bug in itself, but a shortcoming in the error trapping mechanism for multiple issues. Typical malfunction of the Provisioning Mode is just one possibility this and can be enumarated clearly in the context of MORE DETAILS. Cosmetically it…

  10. Dynamic button change based on selection for when changes are applied in 'Required software changes…' dialog

To verify for the user that the option they have chosen for when changes will be applied to their system ('Right now (recommended)', 'Outside my business hours', or 'Snooze and remind me:'), customization of the confirmation button would be ideal, for example:
    • If 'Right now (recommended)' is selected, the button text would read 'Install'
    • If 'Outside my business hours' is selected, the button text would read 'After Hours'
    • If ''Snooze and remind me:' is selected, the button text would read 'Snooze'
    • If 'Restart my computer automatically if selected, the button color changes

  11. Application Catalog Customization

What I would like to see it the ability to customize the Application Catalog a bit more. Currently you can only put your company name and change the color. What I would like to be able to do is add our company logo to the catalog to match the way you can now do it with Software Center in Configuration Manager 1710.

  12. Make phased deployment feature "Gradually make the software available over the period of time" available to any deployment.

Make the phased deployment only feature >>
"Gradually make the software available over the period of time"
....a generic sccm feature available to ANY sccm deployment config, as it would be very useful in many rollout situations.
    Thanks

  13. Do something with Operating System tab

When deploying a custom task sequence that only contains applications and no operating system it confuses our users.

Suggest to rename Operating System tab with something else like Package Bundles. Or (after you add icon support for task sequences) have custom task sequences in the Applications tab instead of Operating Systems.

Updating status to noted. See https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/configmgr/core/understand/find-help#send-a-suggestion for an explnation of each value.

Our 2002 release is now in the opt-in phase. We have added a task sequence deployment type which allow icon customization.

You can opt-in and then download 2002 through their Admin Console now.
    Blog: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/configuration-manager-blog/update-2002-for-microsoft-endpoint-configuration-manager-current/ba-p/1272670
    Docs: https://docs.microsoft.com/configmgr/core/plan-design/changes/whats-new-in-version-2002
    Support Information: https://aka.ms/cmcssreleaseinfo

Custom task sequences will always appear in the applications tab unless the steps indicate that it is an OS Deployment task sequence e.g. has a boot image reference and restart to WinPE step or a Upgrade OS step.

Try out task sequence as deployment type and let us know your feedback and if your ask is addressed with that new feature.

  14. error code

When an application deployment fails from Software Center, it allows you to click "More Information". The information that is provided is just an error code, which is fine, but at least a generic description would be appreciated. I have to go and search for that code on a Microsoft page anyways, why not add it in for both myself and the end users from the start. Save some time for simple issues like, content is not available at your distribution point and such.

  15. APIs to create SCUP, consumable in SCCM and SCUP tool.

Can you please expose APIs to create .xml, .sdp and .json files that are part of the .cab (SCUP), consumable in SCCM and SCUP tool.

  16. Decide if software can be visible in Software Center by model of computer or collection

At our school district we deploy testing software. We want to be able to include collections and exclude collections to what they see visible in software center without modifying the collection or having to create another collection. We set a requirement in the application, but Users still see the software and try to install it.

  17. Possibility of Software Center Application Catalog updating on Program-Start

It would be very usefull, if the Software Center could be set to automatically trigger actions like Mashine Policy Retrieval and Evaluation Cycle, Application Deployment Evaluation Cycle etc. when running it.
Displaying a loading icon to show Software Center is looking for new Applications would be charming.

It could also be a "refresh application catalog" or "searching for new applications" button somewhere integraded within the Software Center.

This would help a lot to avoid users asking "where is the app, I cant see it..."

  18. Optional buttons in Softwarecenter

Create optional buttons at Application and Update section in Softwarecenter to run deployed applications or update task in softwarecenter.
Would be much easier to tell people update the deployed apps or windows updates

  19. Company Portal Customization

I have a customer that, besides the new features in the Software Center, needs to use the Company Portal to all the +6000 users. The question here is the lack of customization. They want to be able to customize:

    1. The two pictures that appear in the Company Portal

    2. The color Schema for the tiles in the main page of company portal

    3. The Language of the App (that can be done changing the OS language).

They are making a great an d big investment in the new images to their users and are using a clean desktop with clean apps, and…
