  1. Allow install of State Migration Point role on client operating systems like Distribution Points

It would be convenient if we could use PCs with client Windows OS (eg. Windows 7 or later) as User State Migration Points to backup and restore user data via USMT on remote locations, like we already do with Distribution Points. Given that, more or less this would imply the creation and management of a "simple" network share on the client, it could be relatively easy to implement and at the same time relieve us from the burden of using scripts etc. to configure and use USMT manually in our TSs.

  2. SCCM CB recovery Options for Hierarchy if a single PS fails

beginning with SCCM CB (Console servicing model), there are 2 Options if a single PS failed during a hierarchy update (e.g. from SCCM 1702 to 1710) if the CAS is already on a newer version:
1: Recover the whole hierarchy to a previous version
2: Setup/Reinstall the failed PS as new Child Site
Option 1 is, if you have an infrastructure with more then 2 Sites (and CAS), not really an option to consider about. Option 2 forces you to setup all prior installed and configured Site Systems again (DP/Client etc.)

Possible options for implementation of a single PS “recovery/upgrade”…

  3. Support for Windows Server 2016 Hyper-V Production Checkpoints for Site System VMs

It’s not possible to use the new Production Checkpoint Feature of Windows Server 2016 Hyper-V with VMs that are running a Configuration Manager Site System role. The Checkpoint creation fails.
To enable modern host-based backup like DPM 2016, it is necessary that ConfigMgr. Fully supports this Hyper-V feature.

  5. Speed up SCCM CB servicing Update (for small SCCM CB hotfixes)

Hi, I don´t know why a small Hotfix, for example the PXE Bug in SCCM CB 1806 (KB4471892), which only change the sccmpxe.exe file, need a complete SCCM CB update cycle.
We manage 120.000 clients in a SCCM hierarchy (1 CAS / 3 PRI / 15MPs / 6SUPs / 350 DPs / 3 CMGs / 6 CloudDPs /... ). A SCCM CB Update + UpdateRollup is just possible on a update weekend. When we need also a hotfix on top, we run out of time.
The Update Step "INFO: Executing spDRSRegenerateAllDrsSprocsAndFuncs" takes up to 3 hours on each CAS/Pri Site…

  6. Decouple site component backup service from database server

Configuration Manager currently installs binaries and configures the SQL backup site component service on the database server, running under LocalSystem authority. Many environments have separate groups that host and manage the SQL Server enterprise environment, and do not allow for services or additional software to be installed on them, creating unnecessary conflict and drama when SCCM needs to be installed. SQL Server is a networked service, there shouldn't be a reason to install software on the database server running under a privileged account in order to leverage backup routines.

  7. Support for ReFS

Microsoft is doubling down on ReFS. It was introduced back in Server 2012 and is now the go to File Systems for all things storage. Currently, you can only install CM on a NTFS partition, as it is blocked during the install. I would also like to see support for ReFS with Distribution Points. This would allow customers to use features like Storage Spaces Direct if they have very large sets of data for content, or need to share storage.

  8. Include MDT and most current ADK as optional "Features" that can be installed through the Updates and Servicing Node

I would love to see both MDT and ADK integrated into all new Builds of ConfigMgr as optional Features. This enhancement would give Admins option to enable them if they choose or if they simply want to upgrade to the latest version. This alleviates the need to install MDT separately but more importantly, ends the guess work to determine what ADK is required to deploy the latest version of Windows. This enhancement will also provide a central repository for MDT and ADK by leveraging the Updates and Servicing node within the Admin Console.

  9. Support for SQL always-on multi-subnet failover

Recently, we tried to deploy SCCM DR solution using SQL AlwaysOn in different Geo locations (multi-subnet), however setup was failing. The Microsoft documentation was not clear for enough. After talking directly with the Microsoft engineer, he confirmed that SQL AlwaysOn in multi-subnet environment is not supported with SCCM (v1802 at that time). Considering this, it’s pretty useless to have SQL AlwaysOn on the same subnet as main purpose of having a cluster is to design a solution for a DR situation.

Can you please confirm if Microsoft is working on AlwaysOn with multi-subnet/multi-site support for SCCM? When this feature will…

  10. Synchronize additional tables with the Data Warehouse Service point

In the 1612 technical preview, the Data Warehouse Service point was introduced, and at that time it included the ability to specify additional tables for synchronization. This capability is outlined in the release notes (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/get-started/capabilities-in-technical-preview-1612).

The latest release of ConfigMgr (1710 as of this posting) does not include this capability.

Re-introducing this capability would expand the use cases for the Data Warehouse Service point. Many customers have custom hardware inventory classes that are not included by default with the existing feature. There are also native tables, such as task sequence execution status, that would be helpful for trend…

  11. Put SCCM program updates back into WSUS/SUP

The way updates to SCCM is done now with version 1511 is a nightmare. Put it back into the WSUS/SUP like it was before as an option instead of forcing people to use the new way. The new method violates many security protocols for many organizations. We can't even get branch 1602 to download, not automated nor with the connection tool.

  12. Add preflight checks and improve documentation for the “Modify SQL Server configuration” option

1.) When running the SCCM Setup Wizard and choosing “Modify SQL Server configuration” there does not appear to be an adequate preflight check to ensure Config Manager is running with full administrative rights to A) operating systems, B) SQL instances and C) Config Manager itself. These permissions are (obviously) critical to a SQL configuration change. In enterprise environments, setup.exe should be reaching out to check rights to all the things it needs to modify (file system, registry, certificates, etc.) before it executes the changes. Partial modification of the configuration has catastrophic results.

2.) Execution of the SQL configuration change does…

  13. Make deletion age configuration in "Delete Aged Status Messages" Site Maintenance task

The "Delete Aged Status Messages" site maintenance task does not allow you to configure an age at which the messages will be deled. This would be helpful for audit purposes.

  14. AD Group Discovery

It would very helpful if AD Group Discovery had the capability to bring in attributes for the group, just like AD User Discovery has this capability. example ManagedBy attribute. When writing SSRS reports this would be very helpful.

  16. Preserve status of Extraction Views on Upgrade

In our environment, we have a connector set up to bring SCCM data into and System Center Service Manager (SCSM). This requires having SCCM's Extraction Views enabled as described here
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2874780/the-service-manager-connector-to-configuration-manager-does-not-transf
    and
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh949655.aspx

It appears this is not preserved during SCCM upgrades and has caused problems with SCSM not accurately retrieving certain inventory data from SCCM.

SCCM Current Branch upgrades should check the status of the Extraction Views, and preserve that status across upgrades. Currently, we have to run the spExtEnableDeleteDetection stored procedure described in the article following an SCCM upgrade to re-enable these views.

  17. Option to change SCCM client communication with cloud distribution point to use only one fixed IP

The cloud distribution point Azure service gives the SCCM Client a list of Azure Blob Storage URLs to the content files of a package or application.
The client will then download via BITS directly from Blob Storage instead of downloading from the Cloud Distribution Point URL.
For many customers this is a problem because they have to open client firewalls for the hole Azure Datacenter IP Ranges or for the hole internet for the svchost which hosts the BITS service.

It would be great to have an option to switch the download behavior between two mode:
    First Mode: The cloud…

  18. Service connection tool should validate the downloaded content.

When Service Connection Point is offline (No internet) and you need to use the ServiceConnectionTool.exe this process should be as solid as possible.
Had a case where the 1902 update where downloaded and imported to the SCCM 1810. Everything looked good. Installation started and went all the way to Install File step. Installation failed since the initial import did not include all prereq files in the redist -folder.

This could have been avoided if there would be some kind of content validation e.g. after the download or during the import or during the pre-req check.

    There are different "manifest..xml" files…

  19. When viewing Site Status, the disk size and free space columns don't sort correctly

If you view the columns for Total, Free and Free disk (%) in the Site Status under monitoring they appear to sort alphabetically rather than numerically. e.g. 1,12,19,2,27,276,28,6,78 instead of 1,2,6,12,19,27,28,78,276

  20. Enable Migration of Client Settings

I've been migrating our SCCM 1606 infrastructure across servers, and while it's been fairly smooth sailing so far, I just discovered that I'm not offered the option to migrate my (10-12) custom Client Settings.

The official documentation on this - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/migration/determine-whether-to-migrate-data#Cannot_migrate - doesn't list Client Settings that can or cannot be migrated. Am I missing something, or was it just forgotten about in the design of the migration wizard?

    Thanks!
