  1. Client Data Sources

When viewing the client data sources report, it would be nice if the items in the boundary group list box were alphabetically sorted.

  2. Implement content distribution rings

Existing: if a given content distributed to 2000 plus pull distribution points they may all start downloading at the same time.

Ask: implement content distribution rings for large enterprises that they can group their pull distribution points exactly like dp groups. Provide ability to prioritize and set compliance thresholds on these groups

    Example:

    DP group 1: 200 dps compliance: %90
    DP group 2: 200 dps compliance: %80
    DP group 3: 200 dps compliance: %80

If content is distributed to all 600 dps then config manager will send the notifications to first dp group and stop. It will monitor compliance basedā€¦

  3. Fix the bug where SCCM does not "Disconnect users from distribution points"

We frequently use SCCM to deploy folders and files that don't need constant synchronization with the source.

We make these files available for manual execution from the shared folder as well as creating programs in that package that we can then push to clients.

There is a bug that keeps SCCM from disconnecting users from any open files in that folder. When this happens, SCCM starts deleting files in the shared folder but can not close the open file, so it just stops - leaving the folder with only some of its contents. To work around this bug and otherā€¦

  4. Source DP prioritization during refresh content/MS package update over other DPs

During content refresh or MS SUP cleanup content update requests get sent to all pull/DPs. However, Source DPs do not have the content present and therefore the child DPs cause extra messaging stating content not present in DPs. request that Source DPs get priority when updating content prior to request being sent out to DP to download/update content

  5. Option to right click on a computer or collection and rerun an advertisement.

Option to right click on a computer or collection and rerun an advertisement.

This will help us a lot because when doing mass deployments many times we have deployments failing on few computers.
If we have this option we can either right click on individual computers and rerun advertisement or create a new collection of failed computers and rerun advertisement on collection.

  6. Allow DP Distribution Throttling Based on Day

Currently you can configure Content Distribution Rate Limits to throttle based on the hour of the day. It would be nice to be able to make this different depending on the day of the week. For instance, I'm provisioning some new DPs, and I want the floodgates of content throttled M-F, but I don't care if it opens wide on the weekends when almost nobody is working anyway.

  7. Configure Rate Limits for different days

Currently rate limits only allow you to configure this for a 24 hour period.

Consider expanding this to allow a schedule based on the day of the week.

This would allow for remote sites to use 100% of their bandwidth during the entire weekend, but a limited amount during business hours.

  8. Allow distribution points to be installed on server core

To reduce the attack fingerprint of servers it would be good if you could deploy a distribution point on server core.

  9. single distributionpoint strategie

it would be nice for customers that have only on DP, that the Site is change to a one DP strategy and automatic distribute every content to this single DP, without every time select this single DP and distribute content.

  11. Keep Previous Version of Content available while Distributing

Currently, when content for an OS Image, Package, Application, etc is being updated, that object is unavailable until the content update completes. This means that content updates for large items must be timed very carefully, especially when sending to remote sites.

It would be amazing if a Distribution Point could keep the previous version of the item available while the content is updating, then switch to the new content and delete the old after it's completed.

  12. Adding Source File aka Reparse Point support for ConfigMgr Current Branch

Currently in Configuration Manager 2012 R2 and Configuration Manager Current Branch releases Windows Server 2012 Drive De-Dupe functionality is only supported with Configuration Manager for drives that house ContentLibs and cannot be used for source shares do to the Reparse Point not being supported.

    Reference Articles:
    2012 R2: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/enterprisemobility/2014/02/18/configuration-manager-distribution-points-and-windows-server-2012-data-deduplication/

    Current Branch:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt617255.aspx

    Drive De-Dupe:
    https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/filecab/2012/05/20/introduction-to-data-deduplication-in-windows-server-2012/

This request is for the code change to add the functionality to Configuration Manager to allow for source files to be located on drives with De-duping enabled so that Reparsing Points are supported.

  13. SCCM: Allow SCCM to ignore files or folders, especially .git?

I'd like to be able to tell SCCM to ignore a .git folder in the content folder for a specific (or all) application. This would allow our group to use Git to manage changes to our application installers but not have SCCM pick up the Git database files, etc.

  14. Make chosen download location visible in status messages

It would be great for troubleshooting if the download location where content is actually downloaded from would be send to the MP as a status message. Some might not want this Information, so please make this a decision each admin can enable/disable.

  16. PoSh register-PackageSource from Windows 10, would be nice to add a DP as a trusted Package Source

If CM-Agent installed on a Win10 Client it should be automatically add his first DP to the Posh as a register-PackageSource Repository, that we can Use that Command to install SW with the add-package command from a App-Deployment type, in faster cases to install SW on a client with remote Powershell and also registered in the Monitoring Workspace as installed, maybe in background the Posh adds the client with direct membership to the right collection that we lose no information's about that.

  17. Content validation should work of packages even if WMI got automatically repaired.

Make sure that WMI information about packages gets rebuild after a WMI restore, so that Content Validation of packages doesn't fails.

If a server for some reason isn't turn off gracefully, an automatic repair would happen, and thereby all packages information is gone in WMI.

    Application Log
    Source: WMI
    Event ID: 5616
The Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) repository was successfully re-created by the auto-recovery mechanism.

  18. Separate content within the application model

Right now, the application is definitely decent and getting better. A major improvement over some other products within the same space. I do however, think that content assignment should be waaaaay better with this simple change.

Applications have Deployment Types, and DeploymentTypes may or may not have content associated with them. If you create two Deployment Types that share the same content, it is confusing because the content appears as if it is separate (Based on the Content ID), although it is the same (Because of the way SCCM handles content > Single Instance File Storage)

    I think it shouldā€¦

  19. When Deleting packages from SCCM Console it leaves the empty custom folder in the DP and only Delete the content of the folder.

Custom folder created during package creation should also get deleted from DP when the package is being deleted.
As of now whenever a package is deleted from console it deletes the content of the folder but leaves the empty folder itself.
These empty folder has to be manually identified and then cleared from the DPs.
This process of identifying and deleting empty folders is cumbersome specially when having large number of DPs and requires special attention while doing in order to avoid removing any of the working folders mistakenly.

  20. Peer Cache DNS Search Suffix

Allow administrators to configure Peer Cache clients with a list of DNS Search Suffixes, or for it to reference the local machines.

Currently I'm unable to use Peer Cache because client attempt to reach fellow clients via the FQDN which for xyz reason is unreachable. If it simply followed the DNS Search Suffix list, it would be able to contact them.
