  1. Edge Deployment wizard add new option "Remove Desktop Icon"

Add an option to the builtin Edge deployment Wizard in the console so we can choose to create the desktop icon or not.

  2. Defer options for Applications

Often, there is a need to wait with an installation.
Such as when user is having a long presentation or workshop.

To be able to let them defer the installation, even if it is being pushed and mandatory would be a big help.

There are some decen 3rd party tools making this possible, but I'd really rather deal with this as an setting for the package or application.

  3. Allow all applications packages and TS deployments to be in the Application Catalog and or Software center

Allow us to choose where to publish applications for the users. Alot of applications are still installed in Task sequences and it would be great to be able to deploy these and present them in the application catalog.

The users are getting confused when some applications are in software center and some in application catalog. Please let us have a one stop shop for this.

  4. Add the new "Software Updates deployment re-eval behavior upon restart" feature to Application deployments

With CM1606, we get a great new feature on Deployments of Software Update Group that can trigger a software update scan after the reboot. This makes it quicker to fully patch machines since Update A might get installed and now Update B becomes applicable. Previously, you'd have to wait for the next update scan (which at shortest is 24 hours, even if you schedule it for more often) before Update B would show up as required.

Well, this functionality would be incredibly useful on Deployments of Applications. If I deploy Office 2016, I'd want the device to do a software…

  5. Add a link to 'Deployment Status'

Add a link to 'Deployment Status' in the applications 'Deployments' tab, so that admins can review the deployment status without needing to search within the 'Monitoring > Deployments' node.

  6. local cache validation

Before executing cached application sources from sccm, there is no further validation of the hash against server etc.

The problem is, that everyone who is familiar with sccm or does only minor research in where to find cached files, could change the setup files to whatever he wants
And those files are afterwards executed in system context.

Some users already do their testing to install services etc in system context executed by SCCM!

  7. Defer/schedule install after application approval request is approved

Currently, if you deploy an application with "An administrator must approve a request for this application on the device" checked, and a user clicks the Request button for the application in Software Center, the application will begin installing immediately as soon as that request is approved.

I'd like to have the option to pop up a notification informing them that the request has been approved, with options to install now, remind later, or schedule the install for later.

  8. Support User-Space Application Configuration for All Users of Device

When installing an application there is frequently a system-space component (the main install) requiring admin/system level access and a user-space component (usually configuration or licensing). Less frequently but frequent enough is that all existing users and any new users that log into the device need those user-space components. Currently there is no good, supported, method for doing so. Admins are forced to use either Active Setup (unsupported and recently broken by Win 10 IPUs), Group Policy Preferences (messy, poor targeting, and very non-obvious separation of app logic), or roll their own (login script that does a bunch of custom stuff).

  9. Global Variable for Software packages

For the installation of applications without a floating license it would be helpFor the installation of applications without a floating license it would be helpful if there were global variables for license keys or configuration settings that I could use during packaging. So you don't have to enter the license key into the package, but you can use e.g. a WMI query to get this variable and enter the license key/configuration that way.

  10. Approval Requests Overhaul

The ability to add a note, and send a notification to the user if more information for their approval is required. Rather than denying it, and requiring them to re-submit, why not keep a single chain open?

Would also be nice if Approval instructions could be given for individual applications, informing the user the steps required for approval to be given. like submitting a ticket to a specific group, supplying approval from a manager.

  11. VDI - Support fast channel even when non fast channel DT’s exist in the App-V application

This article (http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrteam/archive/2015/08/20/faster-virtual-app-publishing-at-first-logon-for-np-vdi-environment-in-configmgr-sp2-and-r2sp1.aspx) makes it clear that if I want to download and execute an app to a laptop, but also stream to a VDI, that to get fast channel to work, I need 2 apps instead of one app with 2 DTs. That doubles our work and doubles our chance of making mistakes.

  12. New Businessstore.microsoft.com integration

is it possible to integrate the New Businessstore.microsoft.com in the CM Console to manage the Store apps in one Console, otherwise you have to go to some additional azure Portal and manage it there, that would be difficult to have too many Consoles and stuff to manage your apps.

    Thank you

  13. Installation behavior: install for user with admin-privileg

The must users in our company working without admin-privileg.

We install the software all the time with SYSTEM-Option on the "installation behavior"-field.

Some software (Plugins for Office, Dynamics, Certificate) have after the installation a shortcut-icon with admin privileg.

I need a option to install the software as a user with admin-privileg.

For example: installation behavior - install for user with admin-privileg

  14. Email Admin and/or employees with info about updates (critical etc.) and updating apps

it would be nice, if i can configure to send email to admins and/or employees if there are critical updates, start upgrade applications or inform the admin about available Windows updates to give info to my employees. in this case all users are informed about security Impacts and that i install updates on their machines.

  15. Autodeploy / Predeploy Available deployment to Primary Device

Having the benefits of Predeploy with an Available deployment (as opposed to required) would be very useful. Having to use a Required deployment just for the purposes of leveraging the Predeploy functionality creates other unwanted behavior. Perhaps this could be a new feature and not necessarily adapting the existing 'Predeploy' feature.

Where I see this functionality being extremely useful is having the ability to deploy an application to a user and having it auto installed (first time / one time only) on their primary device. Being able to do this before the user logs on would also be great.

    This…

  16. dependencies not shown

When installing application with dependencies etc number of “components” is shown – It would be much more user friendly to show the dependencies etc
Only the info number of components is useless , user wants to know which !

  17. Configure application deployment retry

When applications fail to deploy, you need to wait for the next application deployment reevaluation cycle before the next attempt is made to install it (unless the user manually retries via software center).

In the most part, when applications fail generally it's because of something that is going on at the endpoint at that specific time. E.g. reboot pending/a file in use etc etc. Therefore on a second retry (normally after a reboot) the application will install.

It would be good if there was a "Retry Failed Install" option where you could configure if you wanted the application to automatically…

  18. Application Installation Program

Currently when we want to run PowerShell commands in an ConfigMgr Application we need to wrap them in a script or run them with powershell.exe -command and make it a oneliner. This is because it's always triggered from cmd.exe.
Would be nice to be able to choose to directly start PowerShell.exe and just run the PowerShell command.
An example of what I'd like to achieve is to simply add that command in the "installation program" field.
    Add-WindowsCapability -Online -LimitAccess -Name Tools.Graphics.DirectX~~~~0.0.1.0 -Source .
Currently we have to use this oneliner instead which is far more complex.
    Powershell.exe -NoLogo -NoProfile -NonInteractive…

  19. Pass parameters to detection method script

Creating a functional detection method is by far the most important, and potentially challenging thing people have to do when they start out with the application model, when the app is not an msi.

Most of our customers do use a consistent way of registering their sccm-based installations, whether that be in registry, wmi or just in the file system.

Passing parameters like the app name, dt name, and their respective guids to the script based option in a dection method would allow one to create a uniform detection method that just "always works".

  20. Build in preprovisioning for Windows UWP apps allowing the apps to be available to all users that login

Build in pre-provisioning of Windows UWP apps. This can be done via a package that calls the PS command Add-AppxProvisionedPackage or DISM /online /add-provisionedappxpackage, but it would ease admin burden and be more scriptable to have this option built into the app deployment interfaces.

This would make the app available to all users that login to the device, without having to target each user (via collection).

Pre-provisioning the app is useful for a device that will be used by multiple users; for example, airlines using Surface devices for the flight crew and gate workers.
