  1. Add "uninstall application" as an dependency option when creating applications

An example could be when users want to install 'Office 365 x64' on a machine which has 'Office 365 x86' installed. For the 1. to be installed the other should be uninstalled.

    • We need an Event based deployment versus Time based deployment

Please put in Event based deployment versus Time based deployment based on file/registry/Event log change. The deployment date should be used as the absolute earliest the event could take place. The expiration date should still hold true.

The action could possibly happen on a single device, but need to occur to devices within a boundary/collection.

The usage scenario is when a computer device is being used in a 24 hour retail setting, and the maintenance window is dependent on when the retail location determines a time in which it can take such action. The retail store may only have a…

      • Application Lifecycle Management options in Console

One of the big struggles at many companies is not putting application IN SCCM, but having a proper process to retire old applications and do regular cleanup. So it would be good to have some options to automate the process when retiring applications.

        - having the content for retired applications automatically removed from all distribution points
        - having the files/folders removed from the content source location
        - having the retired applications deleted from SCCM after the cleanup completed.

I know there are some PowerShell scripts out there and console extensions but it would be nice to have this as a…

        • Add support for Status MIF reporting with Application Model

Packages/Programs in ConfigMgr support use of Status MIF reporting while the Application Model does not. Status MIFs can provide for more accurate and detailed status reporting, particularly for deployment execution failures. For this reason, some customers have been reluctant to transition to the Application Model.

The Application Model relies on exit codes for determine success/failure of deployments.
Disadvantages of depending on exit codes:

Success exit codes (0, 3010, etc.) do not always indicate successful installation; failure exit codes do not always indicate failure

Exit code 0 does not always indicate that the installation succeeded, but rather only that the installer…

          • Control the order of software dependencies in app model

if i have multiple dependencies for an application(all different apps), there is no way to control the order in which they should be installed unless you create dependency group name with priority. In this example,i have no way to control the order of installation since they are all different category apps and cannot use dependency group.

            • Detection rule logic change in Application module

              Dear All,

we are using more than one detection rule for all our applications(script installer) that are created in our environment.

During installation, the detection rule (AND condition) works fine and we face no issues.

But there are cases when the uninstallation fails in the middle of the script, we get the message as REMOVAL FAILED in the software center, and out of 3 detection rule one or two get removed (partly uninstalled) , but not the whole application is uninstalled from the machine. And when we run the RETRY for removing the application, SCCM check for installation status based…

              • Wake on LAN by maintenance window start time not deployment time

WOL packets are sent when a required deployment's time to install is hit. It would be nice if we could also set this to wake up machines by maintenance windows, or have a maintenance window that wakes up computers. What is the use of waking up a computer at the deployment start time of 7PM if the computer's maintenance window doesn't start until 10PM?

                • Increase max length of Package/Program Command Line

The max is currently 260 characters for a package/program command line. This means a lot of things that could be a single powershell or cmd.exe line end up needing content for a .ps1 or .cmd file. Please increase the max to 2048-ish characters so more can get done in one line without content.

                  • Have deployment types linked to deployments

I would like to see the ability to easily link a deployment type to a deployment. here is why with the deployments you can point them to a collection. it would be nice to be able to say, "hey i want this deployment type to go to this production collection. However, i want to test this update for this application and have the target collection be the pilot group." i know there are probably global conditions you can make to query collection membership but it seems like it would be a small task to have that simple feature to have…

                    • Trigger Hardware Inventory After Installing Applications

Many ConfigMgr administrators set aggressive hardware inventory cycles for their client citing the need to keep an up-to-date inventory for the applications installed on their company's assets. Aggressive inventory cycles can obviously have a negative impact on site performance, and very often is unnecessary as there are frequently no changes to the inventory. Administrators can perform a work around by using wrappers or run additional programs to initiate a hardware inventory post install, however this causes an administrative overhead to installing applications.

I propose adding an option to application/package deployments that would trigger a hardware inventory after a successful installation.…

                      • Option to use SYSTEM context for detection method for a user-based application deployment

The application detection method only runs in the user context if it is deployed to a user collection. This would be reasonable if the Deployment Type user experience were set to "Install for User" (User context), however the detection method runs in the user context when this is set to "Install for system" installation behavior (SYSTEM context).

                        • User Device Affinity - Restrict One machine per User

                          Hi,

I am using Application catalog for making the applications available for the users to install as and when they are in need of. By default, user can set more than one device as his primary device and any approved application can be installed on any/all of those machines.

While checking the available option to automatically install an app to users primary device (In case of OS reinstallation or Hardware refresh) using appcatalog, it gets installed on all primary devices.

It becomes difficult to manage this scenario since there are many licensed applications which will get installed on multiple machines.

                          • Mac Script Installer deployment type

Today the only deployment type for Mac is to use the ".cmmac" packages.
These packages are far from on par with what is available for Windows.
The most basic option to uninstall the app is not present.

It would be very usfull to have the "Mac Script Installer" deployment type where we can simply add a .pkg file or bash script with media and execute install and uninstall with custom commands. Some of the packages require more then just the .pkg file and will therefor be incomplete.
Having a uninstall command will also allow for propper supersedence where now application…

                            • Role Based Control : Enhance the Ability to Add SuperSedence using RBA

Currently under the Role Base Access, if you have full control to an application, and wish to add SuperSedence to an application the User only has read access to, you are unable to do that. The ability to do this is currently available when adding a dependency on an existing app the user only has read rights to.

                              • Allow Superseding / Upgrade of app or program not installed via SCCM

It would be great if an supersedence could be created for programs not deployed via SCCM (or previously deployed via packages). I find myself creating "dummy" applications just for a detection, so that we can automatically upgrade applications that are "Available". In other words, often times we don't care that you installed a specific program, but we do care that if it is installed it's up to date. Maybe when selecting the Application and Deployment type to supersede an additional option to supersede base on a detection rule set could be added?

                                • Further Customize Web Application Deployment Types

Web Application deployment types in their current incarnation are not very usable. The main issues with using them are that:

                                  1. There is no control over where the shortcut to the Web App gets placed; they always go to the start menu. We would like the option to put the shortcut on the desktop or in the user's favorites menu. To do this currently we have to write a script and cannot use this deployment type.

                                  2. The icon for the Web Application should use the icon imported into the software center. Nondescript icons make finding the application you want…

                                  • Deploy Software after initiate Shutdown

It would be nice if an Software Package is required in the Future to set a specific Time when a Software CAN be automatically installed ! E.g. : Deployment availability: NOW
Requirement Date of a Software Install: 5 Weeks
Recommended Date of a Software Install: 2 Weeks

If a Client Shutdown after the Date of Recommend Date of Software Deployment is reached SCCM have to install the Application/Update.

Lot of Customers doesn't like to reboot the PC if there is an important security issue or Preparing for a new Software Upgrade.

                                    • Dynamic Cache

Allow the option of changing the client cache size on a per application basis.
Large applications can then be installed and if set to not persist in client cache, the cache is then resized to the global site default

                                      • Allow all applications packages and TS deployments to be in the Application Catalog and or Software center

Allow us to choose where to publish applications for the users. Alot of applications are still installed in Task sequences and it would be great to be able to deploy these and present them in the application catalog.

The users are getting confused when some applications are in software center and some in application catalog. Please let us have a one stop shop for this.

                                        • Use a standard file browse dialog for the file detection method

When creating a file detection type, it would be lovely if it were possible to use a standard file type dialog as opposed to the current dialog.
