  1. Include ability to turn off Application Revisions

Not everyone has a use case for Application revisions. For those not needing it, application revisions just add complexity and unnecessary additional operational processes and workload.

It would be nice if this could be enabled / disabled either in general via a setting in the product; or on a per application basis.

  2. App Model Optional User deployment behavior

App Model - Optional User Deployment - When user policy is recieved, perform app eval to check if app is installed, if so show as installed in Software Center. (Currently it doesn't evaluate and shows option to install even if already present. When you click the install button... it then performs the evaluation and changes to installed and provides the uninstall button. This is confusing to our end users)

  3. Allow "Applications" to run under alternate account other than "SYSTEM"

Allow "Applications" to run under alternate account other than "SYSTEM". Some applications will not run under a s SYSTEM account and have to run with a domain account. It is only possible when using a task sequence to accomplish this now and it can only be done with packages.

  4. Installation Priority

I would love to be able to assign priority to items that are being or have been deployed. Similar to the idea of distribution priority. This would ideally be an option for anything deployable, such as software updates, task sequences, and/or applications.

I do a lot of testing. We have various things deployed to collections that computers will always be a part of. It's very frustrating to get stuck behind a string of security updates when I am rebuilding a machine to test it fresh. It would be nice to attach a higher priority to an item so it will…

  5. Application deployment and "Maintenance window" settings cause the application to kill

    -Problem overview
If you deploy the application under the following conditions, the running application will be killed immediately after the download phase.
The customer has set "Maintenance Windows", and the problem is that the application is killed at a timing outside the "Maintenance Windows" range.

This behavior is reproducible. (Confirmed with MECM 2002) I want to confirm whether this behavior is a by design or a known issue.

    -Repro step
    1. Set "Maintenance Windows" to the device collection. The next step is to set the installation deadline before entering "Maintenance Windows".

    1. In the application's Deployment Type properties, on the Install…

  6. Display this as a featured app and highlight in *Software Center*

Now we have the lovely shiny new Software Center with beautiful 500x500 icons, it would be excellent if we could pin\highlight featured applications to the top row in the available applications list. Even better if it were to be configurable like the Windows 10 Start Menu, and have the size you want it to be (i.e how many spaces to take up).

Would be great if the current "Display this as a featured app and highlight in company portal" tick box could be rejuvenated with this.

  7. Integrate a References tab on Application objects

Application objects should have a References tab that is identical in functionality to the References tab on Task Sequence objects.

The current References tab in an Application object's properties is very limited (Shows App dependencies, App Supersedence, and Virtual Environments).

  8. App-V 5 Deployment Type publishing option

App-V 5 Deployment Type should have the option per-deployment type of how the App-V 5 package is installed (per-machine, per-user or determined by target)

    Allow for this would offer;
    1. Consistency of options between deployment types (same as for MSI..)
    2. Ensuring a consistent application deployment which will ease admin management (decrease management overhead when removing the application as a sample)
    3. Allow to control deployment type based on end-point, not target collection.
    4. By allowing admins to set per-machine publishing a fully functional application can be ensured, which would leverage all integration points (not possible when using per-user publishing).

  9. Make Application Deployment Status more consistent

Since 2012 RTM, ConfigMgr has inconsistent experience for application deployment monitoring described in these blog entries:

    @Michael Wray: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Configuration-Manager-Archive/Troubleshooting-In-Console-Monitoring-for-Deployments-in-System/ba-p/273015
    @Umair Khan: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/umairkhan/2014/10/02/the-case-of-the-unexplained-application-deployment-monitoring-reports-which-one-to-rely/

Basically, we count Application Infrastructure errors in all pie charts both in Monitoring\Deployments Console node and application reports, but we don't have any pre-created way to find failing clients except "Application infrastructure Errors" report.

It would be good idea to list the assets affected by infra errors in separate deployment monitoring tab, or together with failing DTs in the console. Also it would be nice to modify pre-defined reports to be more consistent and list also affected assets…

  10. Available Applications that a user initiates in Software Center should ignore maintenance window for all dependencies and superseded apps

When a user clicks on an application in Software Center while it is available (or pre-deadline) then all dependent and superseded applications should ignore the user's maintenance window. The current behavior is that if a reboot is needed in the chain then the user has to click install again in Software Center. This could be handled by a deployment option so that the current default behavior isn't impacted.

    Example:
    User Clicks on App1
    App1 has a dependency on App2
    App2 requires reboot
When user clicks App1, App2 should install, then reboot, then App1 should complete installation and reboot if needed…

  11. Ability to install packages from NuGet/PackageManagement/PowerShellGet feed

Ability to install packages from NuGet/PackageManagement/PowerShellGet feed. This will allow managing on-premise/cloud based infra using a NuGet feed like myget.org, TeamCity, OctopusDeploy and a DevOps type workflow.

  12. Applocker Management

Fully integrate AppLocker into SCCM similar to how you do for SCEP. Would be great to be able to create AppLocker rules and monitor what get allowed and disallowed.

  13. Control the order of software dependencies in app model

if i have multiple dependencies for an application(all different apps), there is no way to control the order in which they should be installed unless you create dependency group name with priority. In this example,i have no way to control the order of installation since they are all different category apps and cannot use dependency group.

  14. Active Setup Integration - Wizard / GUI

Some (MSI) applications (e.g. usually CAD software) will be configured via HKCU Registry hive, files in %appdata% or another files in user paths.
It would be nice if a new user logs on (e.g. after OSD), these settings takes place automatically.
This can already be done rudimentary via Active Setup, but not really comfortable (e.g. you have to do logging by yourself, no out of the box feedback in case of success / errors, etc).
Please integrate Active Setup or a new fully solution for that cases as a GUI / Wizard in Application Management.

  15. Have the ability to pre-deploy an available application on a user’s primary device.

Today in the application model you can only pre-deploy a required deployment of an application on the users’ primary device but this has 2 drawbacks:
    • Required means that the user doesn’t have the means to uninstall the application and potentially repair the application (uninstall+install).
    • Required means also that when the user logs on to another machine, maybe just to consult a web page, the required applications also get installed unless the global condition primary device equals true was set.
This is all about provisioning a new machine for a user. Of course there are always common applications, like…

  16. Application replacement options

Add, please, additional option to the application supersedence/replacement window "Corresponding to conditions". Very often we need to replace one application to another which has different number of deployment types. Superseded application has only one deployment type (x86 as example) but new application has 2 deployment types (x86 and x64) which has global condition based on operating system architecture. With the new option CCM Client will choose a new application where requirements are met.

  18. Enable/Disable Feature for Application Deployments

    Enable/Disable Feature for Application Deployments
When a Deployment is created, it is Enabled by default and there is no way to Disable it. In the current state, a Deployment could get created incorrectly, resulting in a large number of computers in the company getting rebooted, unwanted software or blue screens (if its something incompatible for that platform). In SCCM 2007 we got around this by creating a "Disabled" program for each Package, then after an Advertisement was QA'd, we would associate the "Enable" Program with the Advertisement. This option is not available in 2012. Seems like a pretty simple feature…

  19. Application deletation without Task Sequence link depency

I would love to be able to delete Application, without first have to remove it from Task Sequence. You can do this with packages and with driver packages, but not with Applications, why?

The practical challenge here is, that we keep saving our old TS as backup, and this way same App is added to multiple Tasks. It´s hard to go all them through and delete one app.

  20. Ability to schedule the deletion of applications in Retired State

I would like the ability to change the default 60 day time limit that deletes applications that are in a retired state. Would be great to have the ability to change that setting added under maintenance tasks.
