How can we improve Configuration Manager?

3rd Party Patching - SCUP Integration with SCCM Console

Integrate the SCUP tool on to SCCM Admin Console. This will give a single pane of glass view for all patching activities (including importing 3rd party patches).

One thing to add - I had a problem with one of the major PC vendors who offers SCUP catalogs. Once the update metadata contained a circular reference, so when it was imported into WSUS on my SUPs all software update functionality basically broke - Ken has a good blog post of the issue here -

It would be cool if part of these improvements to 3rd party patching, extra checks could be added to "protect" WSUS/SCCM from bugs like this in the 3rd party updates

Come on MS please tell us more. It would be a massive improvement to be able to patch 3rd party software easily in SCCM

It would be great if Microsoft will provide a little bit more information on when we can expect this in a technical preview.

How're we looking on this, SCCM team? Just came from Ignite 2017 and I don't think I saw an announcement on this!

I'd love to see this feature, even if it's just for a few applications. I know I can manually audit for Java versions & deprecate old versions, but something closer to the way Ninite works would be amazing.

Please implement. this would be great for compliance and vulnerability management.

Any updates on this? I have looked over the MMSMOA notes but was not able to find any announcement so I was hoping to find out some sort of idea what "current branch" we might see the preview for this in? Super excited!

Microsoft would you be so kind and write a few lines on status for the number one requested feature?
We where told that more information on this will be presented at MMSMOA but there have just been silence :-(

It was marked at 'Planned' meaning it will make it's way in a Technical Preview rather soon. I know a TP is coming out this week. Whether it makes it in that one or not, I'm not sure.

Was any work completed on this last week? Is there an ETA on when the improvements would make it into the newest version of SCCM?

What is the anticipated availability of this integrated SCUP? Will it be part of the next release? Will it also continue to be enhanced since 3rd party products are such a high attack vector?

Highly desired, thank you very much.
