How can we improve Configuration Manager?

Support PXE responder to run on same server as DHCP

Currently it is not supported to use the built in PXE responder on the same server that is running DHCP. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have their own servers for SCCM DPs.

These changes are now in our 1901 Technical Preview

    Doc: https://docs.microsoft.com/sccm/core/get-started/2019/technical-preview-1901

When you enable a PXE responder on a distribution point without Windows Deployment Service, it can now be on the same server as the DHCP service. Add the following settings to support this configuration:
Set the DWord value DoNotListenOnDhcpPort to 1 in the following registry key: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SMS\DP.
Set DHCP option 60 to PXEClient.
Restart the SCCMPXE and DHCP services on the server.

        Thanks for the reply, Bob.
This is for my production environment. I have 60+ offices, and 50 of them only have 1 server available to host the SCCM Distribution Point. This server also hosts file shares and DHCP for the office (and sometime other applications). It is not an option for me to get a dedicated server for the DP.

The more specific request arises from a case with Premier Support where I experience timeouts with WDS when there is a high latency (270+ ms) between DP and site server (MP+sql db). If you would like to see the contents of the case it is: [REG:218091919040757001]
