How can we improve Configuration Manager?

Request full control over allow/disallow force closing of Office 365 apps when installing updates instead of force closing Office apps

In ConfigMgr 1610 Update Rollup 1 provided the change so Office 365 Updates did not force close any office applications when Office 365 patches were installed through ConfigMgr Software Center.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/sum/deploy-use/manage-office-365-proplus-updates#restart-behavior-and-client-notifications-for-office-365-updates

With ConfigMgr 1706 we require the option to disallow force closing of office 365 applications when patches are installed through the ConfigMgr Software Center.

This is a large annoyance for our users and has floated up to VP level because the "feature" of auto closing Office applications post-deadline. Frankly, because we release OS patches as well, a Client Setting allowing the Office 365 patch to occur on reboot would be preferred as it was in 1702.

1610 with update 1702: A restart flag is set and the update is installed after the computer restarts.

100%. We are just turning on this functionality for our userbase and can't have the office apps closing themselves. This will cause the users annoyance and generate calls to the helpdesk.
Have also found that using a future deadline doesn't work as there is always some randomization in the process so it tells you it applying the update but still doesn't warn when it actually closes the apps.
All we want to do is deploy the updates ASAP warning the users they are going on (exactly how the in-built office updating workflow works - How hard can it be to utilize this).
Looking at going back to old-school updating from a file-share.
