Download size in Software Center
As currently as version 1702, the download size for all of the applications and packages in Software Center show "less than 1 MB" and won't show the correct size until after you start the install. This has been happening for a long time.
We are aware of this and are looking into ways to improve this experience.
On the face of it, it would appear to be a minor change needed to the Software Center > Application Details page, where the requirements evaluation is executed *before* the install button is pressed. Even if the results of this aren't displayed immediately - if there are dependencies to evaluate etc.; an indication that the download size is being prepared could be shown.
This requirement isn't going to go away when the pandemic goes away; many people's work/life balance will change permanently. And I for one want to know what the impact will be on my bandwidth before I start installing an application, not after it has already started
Need to have the capability to customize this value, e.g. for Office solutions were the download from MECM is ~5MB equating to the ODT executable a bit of XML and some PowerShell, but then we off-load to to the Office CDN and clients are downloading 2GB+!
In software center, download size does not reflect actual content size until you start installation. It shows less than 1 MB. It would be good if download size reflect actual content size prior to user start installation.
It's having a larger impact now everyone's working from home, and no idea how big the download will be - 10GB and higher.
we are facing this issue in 1906
