Add an additional Maintenance Windows type specifically for Application Deployments only
Add an additional Maintenance Window type specifically for Application Deployments only. Software Updates and Task sequences have their own and there is an "All Deployments" type. There needs to be one on for Apps to better segregate the nature of the changes occurring in the environment.
This is still needed even in 2021! This would be an amazing add for us!
I would add to this idea that I think we ought to be able to have multi-select of what deployment types we allow in the Maintenance Window. This way, if I want to allow specifically only Application and Software Update deployments in a window, I can. Another window might only allow Baseline remediations.
Such a great idea.. where you could separate Patching from Software Updates.

we have users who want to deploy endpoint protection updates, office updates, applications, etc on a nightly basis but want OS updates installed at specific times. being able to restrict maintenance windows to software updates, application/package updates, or task sequences would be extremely helpful.

To add some additional information. I have found that some organizations view Microsoft Updates as having a higher risk level for impact than application deployments. This causes them, right or wrong, to make decisions to reduce the duration and occurrence for maintenance windows (MWs). You end up with situations where MWs may be happening only weekly or even monthly. Because application deployments get lumped into the "All Deployments" MW bucket getting the apps to the users in a timely manner can be problematic. Solutions inevitably revolve around ignoring MWs which increases risk that something bad could happen during business hours. An Application Maintenance Window allows for separation from these two very different activities.
