How can we improve Configuration Manager?

task sequence auto clear cache option after application install

When we deploy an operating system we like to deploy the majority of the required applications at that time to ensure the computer is locked for the entire process and when the user then goes to use the computer all the applications are available. The issue is some of our applications are large and we have to break up the install application step with a clear cache step to ensure the applications install successfully. Now with 1702 we can have up to 99 applications in the install application step but with out the intelligence built into the task sequence to clear the cache we still need to separate out our large applications.

I would like to see the task sequence install application step clear the cache after each successful install of each application included in the step. Or an option to set this on each Install Application step.

Updating status to started – see for an explanation of values.

Our 1906.1 Technical preview is released today and contains changes to address this ask. On the Install Application steps there’s a new checkbox ‘Clear application content from cache after installing’.
This can be used for static or dynamic App install and is per step not per app so if you’ve been using the 99 max. you may want to refactor your task sequence to use multiple Install Application steps.

I am seeing the same issue with in place operating system updates (like going from Win 10 1511 to Win 10 1709) where our users are failing due to too many old items in the cache. And we don't persist ANY content in our cache so I am not sure why stuff is hanging around so much in ccmcache.
