An easy button to regenerate default boot images after updating the Windows ADK.
An easy button to regenerate default boot images after updating the Windows ADK in SCCM. Maybe add a confirmation prompt/warning.
Updating status to completed – see https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/enterprisemobility/2017/07/28/now-available-update-1706-for-system-center-configuration-manager/
Reload boot images with latest WinPE version – During the “Update Distribution Points” wizard on a boot image, you can now reload the version of Windows PE in the selected boot image.
The Boot Images view will also show the OS Version (added a while back) and ‘Client Version’ which is the version of the OSD Binaries we inject on boot image creation/import and update
Thank you all for the suggestions and feedback
Tested again in SCCM v1806. I can confirm that rebooting the site server (or SMS provider server) after installing ADK fixes the issue. Thx.
PS. You will also need a reboot after new version install.
In addition to the primary site server, have you tried updating the ADK version (remove old, reboot, install new) on all SMS_provider and MP replica systems. If you run the WMI query SELECT * FROM SMS_OSDeploymentKitInstalledVersion under the root\sms\site_SITECODE namespace it will show you all servers and versions that need updating.
I've encountered exactly the same issue like Thorsten ADK was update after SCCM Upgrade to 1802 was done... The consequence, default boot images were not updated and “Update Distribution Points” wizard still shows old ADK used prior to upgrade. For me that means that this task is still not completed and that would be great if an easy fix to reevaluate installed ADK version/make SCCM aware which ADK version is actually installed, would be very apreciated
not fully completed, as there is an issue.
I've just updated a site to v1710. Then updated ADK _after_ SCCM to v1709. However, the Update DP wizard still shows the old ADK version as being installed on the site (WMI: SMS_OSDDeploymentKitInstalledVersion).
Issue: When continuing the Update DP with the new reload from ADK option, you can no longer edit the updated OSImage, because its OS version is newer than the one in SMS_OSDeploymentKitInstalledVersion. Restarting console or services did not help.
Needed to get around this issue by running a Site Reset. This refreshed SMS_OSDeploymentKitInstalledVersion.
Note: This time I didn't try the regenerate ps script or ExportDefaultBootImage Method. Might have worked around the issue, too, but the idea of the new wizard's checkbox was to make the script obsolete, or am I wrong?
