An OS Upgrade Task Sequence results in many significant changes to a system's Inventory and compliance states. The OS Upgrade TS should trigger a full hardware inventory after completion

Yes, please, we have many post upgrade applications that depend on this hardware inventory. Upgrades take place outside of business hours, and would be nice if all the post image applications relying on hardware inventory, processed before our users come in, in the morning.

This can already be done using the "Run Command Line" task.

Just add the following command line entry at end of Task Sequence:
    "WMIC /namespace:\\root\ccm path sms_client CALL TriggerSchedule "{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000001}" /NOINTERACTIVE"

A Task Sequence Step "Trigger HW Inventory" would definitely make sense! A lot of my customers use HW Inventory Data to build dynamic collections.
For example, if you reinstall an existing Win7 machine with Win10 it is important that the computer gets removed from the Win7 collection and added to the Win10 collection as soon as possible.

We urgently need this feature since all our application deployment collections are based on data gathered from inventory. Please implement this soon!
As written in the previous comment the inventory should run during the task sequence
