  1. 3rd Party Patching - SCUP Integration with SCCM Console

Integrate the SCUP tool on to SCCM Admin Console. This will give a single pane of glass view for all patching activities (including importing 3rd party patches).

    • Check for running .exe, give the User the option to postpone

It would be nice to have an integrated solution for that. I would like to have the option to add the programs ".exe" names to the application in sccm. during deployment, if the .exe is currently running, it should ask the user to close it or give the options:
      - postpone deployment
      - close the application and start update immediatly

if the .exe is not running, it should just go ahead and install it without asking.

and also a silent version of this: check if the .exe is currently running, if no -> go ahead and install. if it's running…

There are many comments on this feedback item. We’ve read over them many times while building this feature and feel that we’ve hit the core functionality for this request in the 1702 release and so today we are marking this feedback item as complete.

We look forward to all of your passionate commentary, and votes, on the parts of this feedback that aren’t included in the current release to help us decide where to focus our efforts next.

Details can be found here https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/enterprisemobility/2017/03/26/now-available-update-1702-for-system-center-configuration-manager/.

As always, thank you for your passionate support and feedback.

      • Daisy chain Task Sequences (OSD and non-OSD)

I would like to see the ability to launch one task sequence from within another task sequence. For some processes, you run the same steps across multiple deployments. Today, you have to duplicate these steps across many task sequences. The ability to execute a task sequence from a task sequence would alleviate this need and reduce errors and inconsistencies for administrators.

This features is included in #ConfigMgr 1710 release.

          General Blog: https://cloudblogs.microsoft.com/enterprisemobility/?p=67486
          Docs: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/plan-design/changes/whats-new-in-version-1710

The notes for the 1711 Tech Preview apply here too and we’ll continue to work on these

Console actions are fixed in many instances where we didn’t traverse the referenced packages/content
Export now exports child task sequence and referenced content – secrets are cleared from the referenced task sequences too
Task Sequence import now works and detects duplicates
Copy action copies parent and all reference to child task sequences
Delete action detects if there’s a parent child relationship and displays what’s affected
Similarly deleting packages that are in child task sequences is detected and shown in the delete package wizard
Initially we had limited to one level – now there’s no limit, but use that wisely
Related to the above, we do not permit a circular reference i.e. a parent cannot reference same parent, a parent cannot…

        • Fix Supercedence behavior

This is definitely in the catagory of a bug or design change.

          Consider this scenario:
          * app A deployed to a number of machines via required deployment
          * app a Version 2.0 comes out, we create a supersedence for the old app
          * deploy Version 2.0 to a small collection with an 'Available' Deployment
          * witness in horror as machines automatically begin applying the updated version
          * check the deployment after the fact and discover that a check box of ''Automatically upgrade any superceded versions of this application' has now appeared in the deployment, and is forced checked.

          No where…

In Windows client, after receiving software updates from the SUP, I want you to be able to use the" install and reboot / shutdown and update" botton.

            • Enable a column for primary user!

Enable an option to quickly see the primary user of a device (within the columns on the console) I don't have time to individually click machines or run reports to find the primary user.

This is fixed in the just shipped #SCCM 1802 release. For both Primary User, and Logged on user. We still will improve a couple things:
                1) it is only in devices views; and we will add it in more views (collections, etc.)
                2) We actually think we can do even better than this, and use the SCCM fast channel to show currently logged in now users. If you like this idea, vote here:

              • Using express installation files

Integration of the express installation files from WSUS
I think this is becoming mandatory with the size of updates of Windows 10.

While express updates work in 1702, and improved with a update for 1702… the performance is drastically improved in ConfigMgr 1706 production release. This is faster whether or not using DO. Improvements are being considered for hotfix for 1702.

                • Preferred Software Update Points

Now that we have the option to define both Distribution Points and Management Points as preferred, it'd be terrific if we could have the same option for Software Update Points. It would make a strong case when designing a flat hierarchy.

                  • Make all dialogs shown to the end-user include company logo

A truly great feature would be to be able to customize all dialogs show to the end-user, both for OSD, but also reboot prompts basically all dialogs shown to the end-user.
Adding a company logo so that the end-user actually knows it is from our company and trustworthy.

                      • Show computer state, e.g. different icon for computer that is on, off, user logged on

For each computer under "Devices", display different icons depending on whether a user is logged on or not, or whether the computer is powered on or not (see attached as an example of what this function looks like in Altiris Deployment Console). Such feature instantly allows admins to see which computers are available/online/offline, without having to run a report or ping the computer

                        • Allow us to disable, hide or edit the "Confirm that you want to install a new operating system on your computer" popup

Wouldn't it make a lot of sense to be able to disable the "Confirm that you want to install a new operating system on your computer" prompt that you see when you launch an OSD task sequence in Windows.

Right now you cannot change this behaviour, in addition you cannot even customize the text.

What I'd like to see is the following (particularly with the Windows 10 Upgrade task sequence being used within Windows.)

                          * ability to DISABLE this popup via the deploy ts wizard
                          * ability to EDIT the popup's text to something more 'fitting' (think about Upgrade...)

                          and…

Updating to completed. 1702 is released, see here for more details https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/plan-design/changes/whats-new-in-version-1702

From TAP and Tech Preview we’ve had some feedback, e.g.
                            - make only the headline and first line required
                            - have sample text
                            - allow customizing where the task sequence appears Applications or Operating Systems regardless of properties
If there’s additional feedback or changes please send them on either via User Voice, or mail.

                            Thanks

Devices should show the current logged in user. Next to that should be an indication of if that session is active or not.

This would allow us to see where a user is logged in without having to wait on the userprimarydevice field to populate. Being able to see if the session is active or not will help us know if we can remote in without interrupting a user.

In the new Software center you can only install applications one after the other. In the "old" Software center you could check each application and then install them with one click.

                              • Combine Software Center and Application Catalog into a Single application

We would like to see a single web portal, preferably HTML-based, to marry the Software Center and Application Catalog. We deploy both types of offerings, and a single place for users to get new software would be great.

                                • Automatic Client upgrades after upgrading Site with Cumulative Update (CU)

When upgrading your site with a CU, have the clients automatically upgrade as well instead of creating a Package Deployment.

                                  • automatically search all sub-nodes

Currently, when changing nodes from Application, to Packages to Collection, every time you begin a search, you must re-check the box to 'Search all Sub-nodes'. As the average SCCM admin might make dozens of searches a day to find content, computers, collections, this is really irritating. It would be a better behavior to automatically search all sub-nodes.

                                    • Software Update Patch Tuesday Scheduling

It would be really great if when configuring an Automated Deployment Rule you could configure it to run based on the number of days / weeks since "patch Tuesday" (especially in countries other than the USA where "patch Tuesday" is actually a Wednesday and not necessarily the second Wednesday of each month). I currently get around this by having a script detect when patch Tuesday has passed and subsequently execute an ADR and create one or more deployments based on the number of weeks since that date. This works fine, but an in product solution would be better

                                      • Allow interaction with the user when installing applications as System

Many places like to give users custom UIs when an application is being installed. It would be nice to be able to prompt the user for input or give them information without losing the ability to add that application to a task sequence.

                                        • Change the maximum run time of cumulative updates to 30 minutes

With the new 'cumulative updates' model I think it would be a good idea to change the maximum run time of cumulative updates to 30 minutes (or whatever is best suited). I have noticed more timeout issues with patching in the last couple of months due to the default 10 minutes not being enough time to install 'X' patches as a single CU. This would be preferred to manually overriding them every month.
