  1. Fix the Software Update Task Sequence (built-in TS patching during OSD)

How is this still a problem? Ask any MVP and they all agree: the built-in task sequence for patching during OSD doesn't work. It doesn't survive double reboots, it has a upper patch limit before it crashes ... it's basically garbage. I don't mind making golden images in MDT, but I shouldn't _have_ to ... and yet I do. I makes SCCM feel less like a singular solution.

I’m updating the status. For 1606 we’ve made some changes, listed below.
As more are added we’ll update what Tech Preview/Release they appear in.

      Timeout scan is now configurable
We added a new task sequence variable to allow a configurable timeout for scan. Variable name is SMSTSSoftwareUpdateScanTimeout, default is 30 minutes. Value is set in seconds so an hour is 60×60=3600

      Logging changes
In the SMSTS.log we list the log files to check for updates download and evaluation.
      These are UpdateDeployment.log, UpdatesHandler.log, WUAHandler.log and WindowsUpdate.log

      New Option for full scan
There’s a new checkbox added to the Install Updates step – ‘Evaluate software updates from cached scan results’
If the checkbox is on we use cached results, if the checkbox is off we do a full scan
Task Sequences that are upgraded will have this option checked on – this is parity with the existing behavior

      Power management changes…

      • Force Reinstall of Application

Many customers want to be able to force a reinstallation of an application. this deployment should ignore all detection rules and just install the application again.
At the moment this is not possible.

        • SCCM Report - Easy way to create Report & Dashboard

Not really easy to create some SCCM report or Dashboard if your're not a SQL DBA .. even with Report Builder.
Could be awesome to have a new tool where Reports or Dashbaord could be created easily whithout searching which SQL views I need ..ect ... Like some others concurrent application give.

          • Option to uninstall an application when a user or device falls out of scope of the collection

This is a buggy, Would we like the option to have ' Uninstall Application when Resource falls out of scope of this collection' when an application is deployed to a collection, this would save us having to create 2 collections ( install and uninstall) and to deployments. This would save SO much time and reduce the complicity of application management.

            • Need WSUS Maintenance tasks

There should be a few built in maintenance tasks to go through and complete all the maintenance tasks that are needed for WSUS. I find having to run through these steps every month to be quite tedious requiring a lot of change control each month to get the maintenance work completed for WSUS.

Everything described in this article should be automatically done by CM: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/configurationmgr/2016/01/26/the-complete-guide-to-microsoft-wsus-and-configuration-manager-sup-maintenance/

                • Site Server High Availability or Clustering

Configuration Manager is becoming more mission critical every day. The ability to Cluster the Site Server role (Inboxes & SMS Provider) is more and more important as that is the single point of failure for a Primary Site.

If the Site Server role goes down the Primary Site is down no matter how many Management Points or SMS Provider etc. exist.

If we could Cluster the Site Server or at least have 2 systems share that role for High Availability then this would no longer be an issue.

Even though we can designate multiple SMS Providers, if the site system…

This can be done today w/ #SCCM 1802 (and previous versions too). I will mark started… and watch comments for why this doesn’t just work… before I mark this straight up completed…

                        Steps:
                        1) On the CAS (or standalone primary), go to Administration → Hierarchy Configuration → Discovery methods
                        2) right click on Active Directory System Discovery and bring up the Properties form. Active Directory Attributes tab, and then click on Custom. In the form that appears, type the name of the attribute. Click OK, and make sure you have added it as an attribute to discover. Run discovery after exiting properties form.
                        3) Now when you go to the Devices view and right click on a device and go to its Properties form, you will see the new attribute showing up there.

                      • Windows 10 Servicing Dashboard: Make it clickable

When I go to the Windows 10 Servicing Dashboard, I got a nice PieChart of the Windows 10 Clients and their Version.
But when I click on the PieChart, nothing happens. It would be great to have the same experience on this Dashboard like on the SCEP Dashboards.
That means, if I click on the PieChart one of the Windows 10 Version, a new collection would be opened, with the corresponding Devices.

                        • Create an SCCM Community Catalog Feature

Creating SCCM Collection Queries is an art, and like most art, some of us are more suited to stick-figures while others produce beautiful creations worthy of a place in the Louvre, featuring graceful sub-queries, artful tabbing and good code practices.

When creating a collection, it would be helpful to have an optional 'Community Collection Catalogue' to choose from, which could have a user-voice style 'Most useful' collections list.

Users could create collections here, possibly even having a community 'wish-list' area for those without skills to request from those who would like to share.

Contributions in the community catalog could be…

                          • add a powershell possibility to add requirements to a deploymenttype of an application

At the moment it is not easy to add requirements to an application deploymenttype with PowerShell. I think many of us would benefit if this would be simplified.

                            • Improved automation and extensibility by exposing Configuration Manager functionality through a REST web API

Exposing Configuration Manager functionality through RESTful web API's would open up a whole new world for interacting with ConfigMgr.
E.g. a web Admin console and easier integration with Service Management Automation (SMA).
It should also be easier for 3rd party vendors to create new web based solutions for say an self-service portal or a Windows App for tracking an OS or application deployment on a mobile device or phone.
Personally I would really like any easier way to interact with ConfigMgr. when running in Windows PE (OS Deployment) or a web portal for non-admins to provision new or existing machine…

Make the log files directly accessible via the console rather than digging around in the file system trying to remember which file holds which logs and ideally make them accessible from a context menu in the relevant areas.

                                • Allow us to copy information out of the "Asset Details" pane in the Deployment Status screen

Currently the Asset Details window in the Deployment Status screen is a good overview of what is going on with any given deployment. However, many times assets in the Error or Unknown tabs require additional steps from us. I'd like to propose that the ability to copy information from the Asset Details window (much like Ctrl+C on a collection) is added to the Configuration Manager console.

This would allow us to automate many actions with scripts and provide quick reports without having to write custom queries

                                  • Allow copying text from deployment monitoring "More details" window

The "More Details" right-click function in the Asset Details view under each monitored deployment currently does not allow you to highlight and copy any of the text. This might sometimes be handy while sending deployment information to colleagues or building hand-made lists of computers with a specific error status, etc.

                                    • Make Cloud Distribution Point fully functional

Enable appropriate distribution point functions on Cloud DPs like Group Relationships, Content, Boundary Groups, Schedule, Pull Distribution Point, and Rate Limits.

of course, PXE and Multicast would not be appropriate Cloud DP functions.

                                      • Software Center: Provide a console setting to remove the "Application Catalog" link from Software Center

Admins should be able to disable or remove the link to Application Catalog, from an end user viewpoint, we are not using the App Catalog, just Software Center. Since we’re using a 3rd party Shopping instance as well, it would be good to have a configurable option to hide Application Catalogue.

                                        • Windows 10 Rollback via SCCM

The 30 Day Rollback option is available for all windows 10 users, but currently can not be automated using SCCM.

This should change, as this feature closely integrates with Microsofts testing strategy of using different branches which grow bigger in size as the rollout of a new build progresses.

When planing to integrate a similar scenario, in our case, we anticipate errors which have not been cought in testing of the previous branch and need to be able to quickly restore operations.

I am well aware that if all our applications were packaged this would not pose much of a…

                                            Updating status

These operations can be completed via DISM. From similar feedback Windows addressed this with in the 1803 release.
