Software Center: Add Ability to Launch the Application
Would like to have the ability for the end user to not just install an available deployment, but also launch it there. The way I envision this happening is once the user has installed an available deployment, the "Install" button would change to a "Launch" button, and the Uninstall button would be perhaps a separate button, etc., or perhaps even the icon of the application could be used to launch it and the Install/Uninstall behavior could remain the same.
The benefit of this would be (1) if you removed the start menu or other entry points to the application and…

Enhance Phased Deployment for Applications
TL;DR: Make Phased Deployments for Applications the same as Phased Deployments for Task Sequences where you can create up to 10 phases and manually initiate the second phase of deployment.
Explanation:
Currently in 1806 although you can create a phased deployment for an Application, you're limited in two key areas:1) You cannot manually create phases for an application
2) You cannot manually begin the second phase of deployment for an application
3) You are limited to 2 phases for an applicationIn our environment we follow a controlled graceful deployment process where an Application Model application is deployed office-by-office…

Retain users settings in Software Center. i.e. Business Hours, after client upgrade.
When ever the client is upgraded our users have to reset their Business Hours in Software Center. This is extremely difficult in a 60000+ environment to get the communication out. Why can't the users settings in the client upgrade process be retained?

Modernize the Cloud Management Gateway into an Azure WebApp - Network Security
Currently the Cloud Management Gateway(CMG) for SCCM is a legacy "Cloud Service" in Azure. This prevents Network Security controls, such as placing a Web Application Firewall in front of the service, or peering it to a Virtual Network to be impossible. There are many customers in both the public and private sector that would like to see the CMG modernized into an Azure PaaS WebApp(ARM). This way they can place the CMG into an App Service Environment(ASE), and enforce Trusted Internet Control(TIC) policies.

Chat feature in Remote Control
It would be nice to have a chat feature within the remote control client. This way I can chat with my users when they are using the computer and I need them to complete a task after I am remoted in.

Pre distribute content to clients before deadline.
I work in a quite big Environment, 30k clients and my network team isn’t that happy when we pull the trigger to update our critical LOB apps due to the fact that every computer downloads the content almost at the same time. That puts a lot of pressure on the network infrastructure.
There for it would be great to be able to preload the clients with content for applications in a slow and steady way before the deadline falls for the application.113 votes -
Change Deployments from Available to Required and Required to Available
We would love the ability to change deployments from Available to Required and Required to Available. Currently we have to remove the entire deployment to switch back and forth, and we loose a lot of reporting data during this process

Provide the ability to set an "expiration date" on a DEPLOYMENT
Even thought Applications are state based there are still use cases when a deployment could be expired so that no future deployments of that application will occur. Either an expiration or the use of automatically disabling the deployment, since Software Updates could be disabled so should Software Application Deployments. The reason to keep the deployment would be for reporting so a way to disable or expire would be ideal if state based is not needed.
The sms_applicationassignment WMI class exposes an ExpirationTime property which actually removes deployments from App Catalog but it does not work with software center.

Extend the default Hardware Inventory to include Windows Setup/Upgrade related registry values
There are several registry keys which contain information about the currently installed Operating System as well as Installation/Upgrade history/errors/status information. These keys provide a valuable source of information that could be used for building reports/collections related to OS Deployment. One of the major barriers mentioned for not deploying Windows 10 Feature Updates from Windows 10 Servicing in the console is the lack of visibility/reporting available. Adding these registry keys to the default hardware inventory included in SCCM instead of having to customize inventory would make it easier to share reports/scripts/etc related to this data and could likely be built so…

Status Messages in the SCCM Console
Status messages are amazingly helpful in the SCCM console, but difficult to get to. For instance, whoever wrote the status messages for Task Sequence deployments did an amazing job, yet I cannot access these without making a custom query! This is an amazing troubleshooting tool that is hidden from the average user.
I'd like to get access to status messages from the object that makes the status message. For instance, if I right click on a task sequence deployment, I want to be able to view all status messages associated with that object. If I right click on a distribution…

Eliminate need for clients at Secondary Sites to ever contact Primary Site's MP
Clients can use the Proxy MP at Secondary Sites for most communication. However some communications must fall back to the primary site's MP. For example - client registration.

The ability to tell an SCCM client to IGNORE specific NICS for site determination or SCCM Client communications
The ability to tell an SCCM client to IGNORE specific NICS for site determination or SCCM Client communications.
We have a number of clients that are multi-homed, the SCCM client is often choosing interface that cannot communication with the SCCM infrastructure to determine site membership.
Our clusters fall into this category. 'secure web application servers' that have a "Client Network", "Admin Network", "Backup Network" and "Management Network" connections.
May something similar to the NOSMS file, that will tell the client to not use specific interfaces but continue to inventory, configure, etc.

More accurate registry Compliance Settings
When creating the Configuration Item (Create Configuration Item Wizard, Settings step) and choosing Registry setting type for the Create Setting window, there are some bizarre registry types mentioned in Data type drop-down box: String, Integer, Date and Time, Floating Point, Version and String Array. Most of these data types are all REGSZ type. But where is REGMULTISZ? REGEXPANDSZ? REGDWORD? REGQWORD? REGBINARY?
There is also possibility to set/check compliance for those registry settings with script, but why the Registry Configuration Item in first place?
These actual registry data types need to be implemented…107 votes -
Remove from Collection / Move to Collection in OSD
Sometimes it might be handy to remove a computer from the OSD collection as a final step during the task sequence. Or additionally add the computer to additional collection(s) for for example extra software deployment or another task sequence.
Now scripts need to be created therefore and in my experience this doesn't always work well.
A predefined step where the collectionname or collectionID needs to be added to add (or remove) the computer to (or from) would be much appreciated.108 votesThanks for the suggestion. Updating status to Noted – see https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/configmgreng/2016/03/11/configmrguv/

Allow copy to clipboard for any fields in Resource Explorer (Ctrl-C)
Please add functionality to use the clipboard in the Device -> Resource Explorer tool.
This would enable us to quickly grab some information for one of the systems, like copy a MAC-address or MSI install code.
At the moment, we either have to export the whole table to .txt and filter using a text-editor or manually write out the information which is error-prone.Functionality should look like:
- Double click in a field in the table.
- Press Ctrl-C to copy to clipboard.106 votes -
User friendly progress tracking when distributing content to distribution points.
User friendly progress tracking when distributing content to distribution points. At the moment when asked how long it will take to have content available one needs to track the logs and guess a time frame. If it would be possible to have a progress tracker i.e. speed at which the content is copying, queue tracking, and eta.

Revision History for task sequences
Could you add Revision History for task sequences? It would save you the effort of exporting and importing task sequences or keeping copies for References. This would be a nice to have feature in the Configuration Manager Console - although I'm sure we all have a scheduled job for exporting SCCM configuration automatically anyway.

Virtual environment management
We cannot have AppV connection groups be successfully managed by current branch SCCM Virtual Environments.
It looks like:
- an application cannot be part of more than one virtual environment
AND
- an application cannot have more than one deployment type in a virtual environmentAccording to what can be found in the documentation, it should be possible to achieve what we want.
- Old whitepaper (not anymore officially available, but we still have it): http://www.getonict.nl/docs/app-v-5-configuration-manager-2012-sp1-integration.pdf “Applications are allowed to be in multiple virtual environments to allow a single package to communicate with multiple, separate applications.”

Configuration Manager Remote Control Connection History
Having the ability to look through a dropdown history of connections would make reconnecting easier and shouldn't cause too much programming hassle.
Having a log of connections with date/time of connection/disconnection, IP of source and destination would also be valuable to have as reference.

More criteria for client certificate selection
Currently the selection criteria when more than one certificate is available are limited to the options “Client authentication capability”, “Certificate Subject contains string”, “Certificate Subject or SAN includes attribute”. This really limits the usability of the feature.
It would be great if there are additional selection criteria like “Issuer” or “Certificate Template”.104 votes
