How can we improve Configuration Manager?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Simplifiy and increase visibility of the system tray icons

The system tray icons for Software Center and Software Updates are too small for most users to decipher. Most users cannot tell that the system tray icon for pending software is a package with a green or red asterisk--there us just too much detail and the asterisk it too small. Even on a desktop monitor we cannot tell what the icon is, but on a high resolution laptop, you need a magnifying glass. Please simplify the icons and make to color coded portion most of the icon.

    • Conditional Access based on the latest Windows 10 build

You should be able to create a conditional access rule that only the computers with the latest Windows 10 build can access corporate resources.

The latest version is required because it might introduce new security features or some other functionality.

      • Automatic refresh/update after you do "Update distribution point"

When updating a package over "Update distribution point" we always have to click outside of the section/folder in order to get an updated status of the package we are updating. It would be nice to have it automatically refreshed only for that particular software.

        • Display Security Scopes and Collections columns by default under Administrative Users

Many organizations struggle a lot with the concepts in Role Based Administration. One of the things I see that helps them immensely to see how they've misapplied security is to simply turn on the Scopes and Collections column views under Administrative Users. While the Roles are shown by default, without the Scopes and Collections, there isn't enough context for them to understand what is actually set up.

Please display the Security Scopes and Collections columns by default under the Administrative Users view in the ConfigMgr console. This will help people understand RBA at a glance much more easily.

          Thanks for…

          • Make Progress Status messages descriptive

The Create Task Sequence Media Wizard reports very basic information during the creation, eg. Processsing 0% or 14 % etc but what is it progressing? As you cannot see this information and the processing status resets to 0% multiple times.

Would be helpful to know what it is doing!

            • Extensions for Windows Intune

It should be possible that extensions for Windows Intune can be installed without adminrights while opening the Admin Console after the Extension is activated.
