  1. Give us the option of integrating active directory and and sccm console capabilities.

In many environments there are very few tech staff members involved in managing everything. I would like to see us have the ability to create a custom mmc or utilize a single console which can manage AD users and computers and SCCM. We should be able to then move objects about the directory or access SCCM data and actions within the AD console. I would like to be able to right-click a computer object in the AD console and get SCCM options such as resource explorer, inventory, reporting, remote control, add to collection, what collections is this machine a member…

  2. Add an "All Items" category to Software Center

Please add an "All Items" category to Software Center and have this displayed by default whenever a user clicks on a notification/toast. This would eliminate the dozens of calls we get from the end-users who ask "where's the update I was just asked to apply"?

  3. Add some usefullness to the Asset Intelligence

Provide some usefulness to create reports, pull uninstall information, possibly allow a simple right-click create uninstall package from software in the Inventoried Software List. Currently this is a mostly useless item as all it does is show the install count, does not even list the devices that have something installed.

  4. Overview pane to monitor automatic client upgrades to new service pack

With R2SP1 automatic client upgrades will now function for the first time in an R2 environment.

It would be nice if that deployment wasn't hidden though so we could actually see the progress of the clients being upgraded.

  5. Do something with Operating System tab

When deploying a custom task sequence that only contains applications and no operating system it confuses our users.

Suggest to rename Operating System tab with something else like Package Bundles. Or (after you add icon support for task sequences) have custom task sequences in the Applications tab instead of Operating Systems.

Updating status to noted. See https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/configmgr/core/understand/find-help#send-a-suggestion for an explnation of each value.

Our 2002 release is now in the opt-in phase. We have added a task sequence deployment type which allow icon customization.

You can opt-in and then download 2002 through their Admin Console now.
    Blog: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/configuration-manager-blog/update-2002-for-microsoft-endpoint-configuration-manager-current/ba-p/1272670
    Docs: https://docs.microsoft.com/configmgr/core/plan-design/changes/whats-new-in-version-2002
    Support Information: https://aka.ms/cmcssreleaseinfo

Custom task sequences will always appear in the applications tab unless the steps indicate that it is an OS Deployment task sequence e.g. has a boot image reference and restart to WinPE step or a Upgrade OS step.

Try out task sequence as deployment type and let us know your feedback and if your ask is addressed with that new feature.

  6. Browser plugins

If a plug in is needed for a webpage and it is not installed on the machine redirect the user to the Application Catalog instead of the vendor site. For example, user needs Flash, the page prompts the user to install Flash and directs them to the App Catalog. Do not know if this it technically possible but would be neat. Especially if it worked with all browsers.

  7. Improve Task Sequence selection, hide testing task sequences, user based policy availability

we have 10 Task Sequences accross 10 countries, and 10 test task sequences that show up in the same list. It would be nice to be able to easily hide deployments that are only for testing, and not production. If at the beginning of a T.S. , user domain credentials could be entered, and that would determine T.S. availability. Or they could be greyed out if not to be run by that user.

  8. Problem with verifying connection in Join Domain step

I'm seeing an issue with verifying the account used for joining the domain in a task sequence. Despite choosing a domain and OU, when I click verify it is defaulting to Users > Contoso

  10. Allow Task Sequence Editor to retain the window size from the previous session.

The default window is too small to see the window pane contents properly. It always needs to be enlarged. Either make it larger as a default or allow the user to set the size and retain it across sessions.

  11. Combine the Content Status pane tabs into one table

Find a way to combine the tabs for Success, In Progress, Error and Unknown into a single table with the same information that makes getting an overview of Content Status more efficient.

  12. Run Scripts feature should support other scripting types (VBScript, Perl, etc)

It would be awesome if more languages were supported for real-time Script deployment in addition to PowerShell. Maybe VBscript, Perl or Javascript, etc.

  13. New Software Center (1511) still status “Installed software” is given as “Less than 1 MB”

New Software center (1511) still the same bug than on previous version, where size of “Installed software” is given as “Less than 1 MB”, and only changes to real value when I click on the row.
Do MS any plan/idea how to fix the issue ?
    Thank you
    regards

  14. Align Verbage in Software Metering with verbage on file details

When creating a new software metering rule, the console asks for the file version of the file. However, what is really required is the product version of the file. Unfortunately, these are not always equal as some vendors have different values between the two fields. When this occurs and time passes by and you put the file version, you have no metering data.

  15. Seggregating SQL tables/views for SCCM Application and for Admins

1286 tables and 7153 views, makes it an extensive and difficult job for SCCM Admins to create custom reports, as herculean task for finding where needed info exits, sometime data is available in multiple table/views, makes it tough to decide. Do you think it helps to re/design table or views naming structure in such a way that, set of them are meant for SCCM application for internal purposes which we don’t user for reporting purposes, and a second set of them are meant for SCCM Admin for creating report purposes, making the naming convention and data available in later section…

  16. Extra Information about members of collection about required deployments(especially in task sequence)

When a tasksequence is deployed as required, especially for operating system deployment, the summary screen shows the collection name and the members count.
This step is very error prone and dangerous in case wrong collection is selected.
There should be an extra screen before required os depyment task sequence, which shows the collection name and all the members of the collection. Thus, the user will be aware about the error if it makes before.
an extra security step will be very useful.

PS: many companies lived this scenario with formatted computers mistakenly :(

  18. Change State migration point to user based

You could automate the computer change, if State Migration Point would be user based, not computer based (and existing linking created). When user get's new laptop from pre-installation, she will open it from package and connect cables. After that she logs on and runs State Migration Recovery that loads everything back to the new operating system.

If using user based model, you don't have to manage MAC-addresses (that aren't in fact known beforehand). Easy to use for end-user:

1 - Click one - Start scanning [---100%---] OK, shut down the old machine and log on to new one
    2 -…

  19. Improve package and task sequence export to include deployment information

We often export packages from QA to production, but the export does not include the deployments. Also, collections are not included so we have to 1. export collections, 2. Export TS or package, 3. Manually recreate the deployments.

  20. Allow for an advanced filter under 'Run only on..' in task sequence

Allow for a WMI filter or alternative in the advanced tab of a task sequence so we can run only on that hardware type. For example I have an OSD task sequence that I need to advertise to unknown however I actually only want to run on Model XYZ. This should be evaluated at the WinPE stage and then drop out of the TS if no match is found. This could equally be used similar to the existing format with a TS advertised in the software center.

Thanks for the feedback. We’re looking at moving the functionality of the Check Readiness step to the task sequence properties and this is one of the additions were considering. Please note this is not scheduled work yet.
