  1. Fix the memory leak when editing Task Sequences

I consistently run into issues with TS's when making changes to them. Upon closing the TS or applying changes I will receive an error that says "There are too many steps in your TS...". But if I close the console and reopen it, I am able to make the exact changes and they will save fine. The problem usually happens towards the end of the day so I believe it is a memory leak of some kind. I started seeing the issue in 1610 and figured it would go away with new versions. Just updated to 1710 and the issue…

  2. Give us an option for Appx Provisioning Deployment

ConfigMgr supports .appx deployment, but sometimes we want these on every user that signs into the machine. These machines may be on metered connections and not have a stable connection at the time to redownload the appx file. DISM lets us do this by hand and calls it provisioning. This is a long and complicated process when deploying to 1000's of machines.

Currently SCCM pushed Windows Modern Applications can only installed into the current users profile even if the deployment is targeted at the machine.

Can we get the option in SCCM for if we want the APPX provisioned for…

  3. Allow Boundary Group and Distribution Point Group Nesting

Allow boundary groups to contain other boundary groups (and distribution point groups to contain distribution point groups) so that a services hierarchy can be created and managed much more easily. As an example, below are a Boundary and DP hierarchy setup:
    Boundary hierarchy:
Site_Boundary_Group - Contains Primary Site Server as an available site system, so it is available to whole site
Regional_Boundary_Group_A - Contains an MP for the A region
Regional_Boundary_Group_B - Contains an MP for the B region
Local_Boundary_Group_1 - Contains a local DP for location 1, part of Region A
    Local_Boundary_Group_2 - Contains a local DP for location…

  4. Please enable us to search the documentation for a specific product version

Today it's not possible to search only the documentation related to "Configuration Manager" (v.Next) for a specific word/topic. That's even not possible at the Microsoft sites directly (e.g. Microsoft.com). In any case old stuff related to Configuration Manager 2007 oder 2012 shows us. It would be great if you can enable to search only the documentation for a specific product version.

This is a similar ask as in "Please bring the meta tags back to the documentation so we can search term" but probably not exactly the same.

  6. Add a column to the Operating System Images node for OS Build version.

Add a column to the Operating System Images node for OS Build version. This is especially valuable with Windows 10 as you may have multiple images for different releases. Ideally this would be just like the Boot Images 'OS Version' node.

  7. When adding items to an "Install application" step in a TS let us select multiple apps

When you create an OSD Task Sequence and get to the section where you install applications it gets really tedious is large deployments when you can only add 1 application at a time to the Install application step. I know the step can take upto 9 applications so why can't we have a checkbox next to each application and select them all at once rather than re-opening the wizard and browsing through a folder structure? I think this would simplify task sequence creation and management.

  8. Allow right click ad-hoc Powershell execution directly from the console

Allow the import of powershell scripts into ConfigMgr, then allow administrators to right click on devices and collections to immediately execute them and get results. Do this without requiring changes to ports or firewalls, and ideally over the internet through CMG.

  9. Remove Dependencies on WDS

Server 2016 no longer has a min-gui feature. With this removal, it is only possible to deploy a distribution point that supports Operating System Deployment to a server with a full gui.

Distribution points are perfect candidates for server core! They should be fully supported, including PXE booting for Operating System Deployment.

  10. Make ConfigMgr upgrade process resilient

As of now when an enterprise thinks of upgrade, we have only one thing to do before (TestDBUpgrade). This makes sure if the DB is upgradable. But what if the Upgrade fails at the next step (Copying files). We don't have an option to again run the upgrade only from that step and running from beginning will not work as DB is already upgraded it will fail to find some objects. If this is a CAS site this means you have to again go back to a previous version and recover it and make sure the sites in the hierarchy…

  11. BUG: Nested Task Sequences do not update references to packages correctly

In CM Admin Console > Task Sequences when using nested TS the parent TS does not update package references correctly until sub-TS is re-added to the main.

  12. Enable Azure Resource Management for Cloud DPs

It would be great if you had the same ability to create a cloud DP like you can with the cloud gateway. Utilizing the classic installation type of using a certificate to create the cloud DP is cumbersome and prone to simple errors.

  13. Enable "Access content directly from distrubution point" when linking another Task Sequence

When I used the new feature that makes it possible to run a Task Sequence within a Task Sequence the option to "Access content directly from distrubution point" disappears. Is it possible to keep that option accessible? It's nice to only have one TS with all drivers and run that within any other task sequence while keeping that option enabled. Driver installation without that option is alot slower in my experience.

    Thanks for the feedback.

The option to use “Access content directly from distrubution point” was regressed from another code change late in our 1802 release. This was addressed in 1806, updating status to completed.

  14. SUP Sync Status

Add a Get-SupSyncStatus cmdlet as it does not exist today.

the only way to achieve this is via WMI
gwmi -Class SMS_SupSyncStatus -Namespace "root\sms\site_$SiteCode" | select LastSyncErrorCode, LastSyncState

  17. Fix Console performance on systems with touch devices

If you have a device with a touch screen, and/or digitizer/stylus, the Admin Console performance takes a huge performance hit on general use, and may lag for several minutes when performing simple tasks such as viewing "Users", "Devices", "Software Updates", etc. Disabling the touch devices in Device Manager result in the same action taking only several seconds. Confirmed on Surface Pro 3, HP All-In-Ones, and a variety of other devices. This issue has been reported to, AND reproduced by, our Microsoft support contact.

Example: I have a collection of around 1100 devices. If I view that on the server, or…

  18. Queries vs Collections

We have also experienced "Collection Creep". A tool would be handy to view/delete collections from a search criteria, e.g: No Memebers, No Deployments, no membership change in 6 months.

  19. New-CMPackageDeployment missing parameter to specify deployment expiration time.

We currently use the cmdlet Start-CMPackageDeployment to create deployments to our patching collection and schedule reboots. We use the parameter DeploymentExpireDateTime to set the expiration for the deployment. We are now getting a message that start-cmpackagedeployment is being deprecated in favor of New-CMPackageDeployment, but the new command doesn't appear to have a parameter to set the deployment expiration time. Oddly, it does have a parameter "-UseUtcForExpireSchedule", so possibly it's just an omission?

  20. Finnish client has a typo in the balloon notification

Finnish client shows balloon notification as in the attached screenshot.
