  1. Implement function to remove Windows Updates from clients with Software Update Point

With a standalone WSUS-Server deployed Windows Updates can be uninstalled/removed from clients. With SCCM SUP this is not possible,

  2. Support Phased Deployments in Automatic Deployment Rules

I think this is pretty straight-forward. If the Phased Deployment feature is to become a thing for software updates it needs to be supported as part of ADRs. If organizations are manually deploying updates then they're simply doing it wrong. If anyone thinks I'm transitioning from automated deployments to manual phased deployments they vastly underestimate my laziness.

Updating status to planned, see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/understand/find-help#send-a-suggestion for an explanation of each status value.

Weā€™ve shipped fixes for a few scenarios that can cause this in 1902 but know there are some scenarios left.
May we ask anyone still experiencing it on 1902 to gather verbose logs from the client and send a frown so we can troubleshoot additional scenarios that cause the error.

  5. criteria in software updates filtering for Title

During the software update filter section ,I want to exclude updates with title malicious, itanium and security only but for this ,if i choose title does not contain ,it doesnt have option to change AND instead of OR .
OR will work only if the title contain but if i choose does not contain ,i left with undesired results. This is same for other filter sections .
Attached the image for your reference.

Can this be improved to customize based on the requirement.

  6. Add support for "Hotfix" Update classification

SCCM should be able to support all updates made available in the MS catalog.
The MS Update Catalog lists hotfixes which makes WSUS more useful than SCCM. If WSUS can rollout a hotfix why can't SCCM?
Example KB2728738 is a hotfix available in the MS Update Catalog (http://Catalog.Update.microsoft.com/v7/Site/Search.aspx?q=2728738) yet it can not be imported to SCCM as the "Hotfix" class is not available.
MS Support suggest to follow an non MS consultants blog http://ccmexec.com/2012/02/installing-multiple-windows-7-hotfixes-msu-with-sccm/
As MS continue to create more and more Hotfixes in replacement of proper updates this makes SCCM Update component less and less useful.

  7. Install Servicing Stack Updates (SSU) Before Other Updates When User Initiated

The Current Branch 2002 release introduced a feature to install SSUs first but only when triggered by the deadline.
    From the docs:
"SSUs are installed first only for non-user initiated installs. For instance, if a user initiates an installation for multiple updates from Software Center, the SSU might not be installed first."

A lot of work has been put into encouraging user-participation in the patching process. I want the user to decide when they're ready to install the updates and avoid situations where the deadlines impact their work. In those scenarios the behavior introduced in 2002 therefore not helpful.

  8. Management Insights: Show Microsoft Products detected in your environment that are not enabled on the SUP

Managing your SUP can be challenging in large environments where other teams may be implementing new Microsoft products and forgetting to notify the SCCM Admin that it might be a good idea to patch the product.
With Management Insights now available in the Console it would be nice to show insights in what Microsoft products are detected in your environment as being installed, but are not enabled on the SUP hence creating a potential security risk.

  9. Windows Store Apps update controlled from SCCM Updates and SUP

We are a school system with over 30K of 1:1 devices and counting and our networking team just watched 378 GB of downloads from dl.delivery.mp.microsoft...this morning. Turns out that this is Win10 Store apps updating. (Provisioned apps most likely as we use very few apps right now.) My boss was not too happy that this happened during testing.

We control our Windows updates with SCCM using a SUP and WSUS and everything is fine but we have no way to control store updates, frequency, caching on our DPs etc. Any chance of adding store updates to work like Windows updatesā€¦

  11. Software Updates - Need an Option to Control the Auto deployment of Revised updates

WSUS has an inbuilt option to control the approval /Auto Approval of revised updates.
However ConfigMgr is missing this feature. This is causing the revised updates to get auto installed on the clients if the deployment is active.
The latest example for this issue was KB3172605. This was revised by MS and caused auto install with reboot on clients

  12. The Office 365 updates behavior in SCCM 1802 still feels off and unpolished

We still see prompts for closing running office applications and while Software Center displays a reboot required, the update doesn't seem to get installed unless manually triggered through the in-app notification.

  13. Office 365 Proofing Tools language Selection

Office 365 Proofing Tools language Selection:

In SCCM, we cannot select the Office 365 Proofing Tools Languages along with the Office 365 Client Update. But, if we choose the Office 365 languages then the respective Office 365 Proofing tools language will be selected.

Office 365 language size will have ~400-500MB and the Proofing tools language size will have 30-150MB. So, if we select ONE language, then it will be around ~450-650MB. Here most of the users will not have Office 365 language Pack, but they will use Office 365 Proofing Tools languages for Grammer, Spell check, etc.

    As per theā€¦

  14. Display progress of Office 365 Client Updates into WUAHandler log

When deploying the Office 365 Client Updates with ConfigMgr, there is no information currently written into the WUAHandler.log. All other software updates (including Office 2016) appear in the WUAHandler.log with an entry showing they are missing and once installed, an entry showing the install was finished, the exit code, and whether or not a reboot is required.

    2) Update 1 (4a4cfa3f-337e-496e-9d32-a143afcb27f4) finished installing (0x00000000), Reboot Required? Yes

  15. Complex scheduling: Enable patch deployments to servers based on SDLC (Dev / QA / Prod / DR)

Based on Patch Tuesday, allow application / business owners to select appropriate down time for the server as well as a sequenced order (e.g., Development servers during the first week after Patch Tuesday, QA on the second week after Patch Tuesday, Production servers on the third week after Patch Tuesday, et cetera). This allows the business owners to "own their own destiny" and get systems administrators out of the business of coordinating patching maintenance windows. In addition, the ability to insert "change freezes" that force the schedule to increment all downstream targets out by an additional week to compensate forā€¦

  16. ConfigMgr SUM installs should update the date of last install in Windows Update control panel applet

When you only use ConfigMgr to install updates, the date on the Windows Update control panel applet often reflects something that is really inaccurate as ConfigMgr doesn't update it. This often leads to a very negative reaction of "I thought those darn ConfigMgr admins were updating our workstations and servers!?!" And then we have to explain that we are, but that date doesn't get changed.

Can we please just ensure that when Software Update Management installs any updates, the Windows Update control panel applet gets set to the current date?

I stole the screenshots from this thread: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/b33dd5b2-64b3-476d-8fc5-232cbafced47/sccm-updates-are-installed-but-windows-update-status-wrong?forum=ConfigMgrCompliance

  17. Option to set Security scope on ADRs

ADRs do not have the option to set a security scope. In an environment with multiple departments making their own ADRs for their dept's devices, it would be useful to be able to set a security scope on the ADR itself like you can with the SUGs and Deployment Packages

  18. When required updates are delivered, popup the "Required software changes..." dialog window

When required updates are delivered, popup the "Required software changes..." dialog window. The current 5 second toast notification and small taskbar icon don't do much to alert the user. This would greatly increase the # users that install and reboot before the deadline. Currently a vast majority get installed automatically at the deadline. It's a likely reason companies have a difficult time requiring a reboot. The "Required software changes..." dialog window provides the date and time it will automatically install and allows them to install now. You can only communicate out so much to the users, so these dialog windowsā€¦

  19. Suspend Bitlocker before reboot

When a BIOS update is being deployed, automatically suspend Bitlocker before the reboot. If this doesn't happen, you're forced to enter the recovery key which isn't very practical if you're doing a large roll out.
FYI this is for BIOS updates for Dell coming from SCUP 2011. Probably applies to other hardware

  20. Add ADR Timeframe of "Updates older than X days"

Today, we can deploy updates using an ADR based on a number of timeframes, but most will deploy updates that came out within the last period of time.

For instance, we can deploy updates that came out within the last month, but there is no 'Date Released' value for updates older than X or updates that came out within the last three weeks, for instance.

A number of my customers want to wait and let the community test updates before deploying them, and we currently have to be a bit clever with our timelines to make this work.
