  1. Custom warning messages for high-impact task sequences not working

In SCCM 1702 only the middle text field of "user notification message text" will be taken!

  2. Software Update Error after Installing Feature Update 0x80070422

When Installing Feature Update 1607 or 1703 via WSUS and Software Update Group the clients System Center reports error 0x80070422.
The error is reported, even the client installed the feature update fully successful. This is caused, by a delay or not running Services after the first boot of the Client after the Feature update. A solution could be, that the ccmexec process waits longer for the Windows update Service to Startup or Trigger the start of the Windows update Service itself.

  3. "Do not apply power settings from my IT department to this computer" Doesn't stay ticked.

SCCM 1703 - The "Do not apply power settings from my IT department to this computer" setting doesn't stay ticked although the setting does in fact apply. If I then close Software Center and reopen it, the tick has gone but the management is still bypassed correctly.

  4. RBA Viewer that works with CM CB

The RBA Viewer that is released in 2015 constantly crashes in my production system. I was able to get it to work in a lab running an older verison of SCCM.
So far it crashes with CM1606 and 1702

Can RBA Viewer be updated to support the new permissions that have been introduced over the past 2 years and updated it with every release of CM CB?

If there are no plans to update rbaviewer can a statement be released that the current version is not supported with CM1606 and beyond?
Or whatever version you feel is appropriate?

  5. Allow Client Notification actions to be triggered from the Devices node.

Please allow Client Notification actions to be triggered from the Devices node. You currently can only do this from Device Collections.

  7. Add a column to device collections not only for Operating System but build/releaseid

Is it possible to add a column to device collections for OS build / release id (i.e. Windows 10 1703 or Windows 10 15063.xxxx) to easily identify the installed Windows 10 version. The column Operating System is sometimes not quite enough information. Thanks!

  10. Save-CMSoftwareUpdate Applet - Add a Retry parameter

I would like to see a parameter added to the Save-CMSoftwareUpdate applet, that allows us to specify how many times the applet should retry downloading patches that fail to download.

Currently if a patch fails to download, the applet moves onto the next patch without retrying, which induces administrator activity post-execution, or complex scripting to determine patches that are not downloaded and retrying them again.

  12. Add Option for "OS Build" Number in Hardware Inventory

It would be incredibly useful if the "OS Build" number could be added via Hardware Inventory as admins could then report accurately on which patch level devices are at. e.g. 14393.1532 tells me which version of Windows is installed and also which CU is installed (via the 1532 part of the number).

Currently this is only possible via script at build time but would very useful if added as a native item in Hardware Inventory.

  13. invoke-cmclientnotification improvements

In 1602 support in the Admin Console GUI was added for additional client notification triggers.

    https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/manageabilityguys/2016/03/29/whats-new-with-configmgrs-client-notification-feature/

However there is still a gap in the functionality for this cmdlet. Currently as of 1706 you are still only able to invoke user and machine policy per the documentation:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/sccm/configurationmanager/vlatest/invoke-cmclientnotification

  14. Making PowerShell Cmdlets Discoverable in SCCM

Presently the PowerShell Cmdlets for SCCM require use from the console or running a separate script like below.

    Import-Module "$($ENV:SMS_ADMIN_UI_PATH)\..\ConfigurationManager.psd1" # Import the ConfigurationManager.psd1 module
Set-Location "$((Get-PSDrive -PSProvider CMSite).Name):" # Set the current location to be the site code.

An alternative would be two options (Neither means re-writing the Configuration Manager console.

One. Create a shortcut to launch the above script as a "PowerShell Configuration Manager Console"

Two. Leverage some variant on a solution found here on the TechNet Script Repository which drops in a Hardlink with MKLINK pointing to the Configuration Manager BIN folder with the correct name for…

  16. failed to run task sequence due to missing content - show package ID not GUID

When you start a task sequence and it starts off by validating content. If it can't find a given package/application, it used to just say something like "content for package ID ABC000123 could not be found on any distribution points". That was super easy to find in the console and either update distribution points or whatever needed to be done.

With the 1702 update, it appears package ID has been replaced with ScopeID_(long_nasty_GUID)/Application_(Another_long_nasty_GUID). When this happened to me last week, I couldn't find the ScopeID or Application GUID anywhere in the console, and had no idea which of the 5…

No response back, closing for 1802

The message you’re seeing is for Applications – Applications use CI’s rather than the ABC00001 you see for SWD Packages, Boot Images, Task Sequences etc.

In the Software Library, Applications – add CI Unique ID to the columns view. Type in the first few characters of the CI and any apps that match that are shown. You don’t need the column – I’m just suggesting that to help illustrate.

In the Task Sequence view, the References tab shows all referenced content and distribution status. Right-click on any item and you’ll be shown which Distribution Points have that item. Also, the Object ID will show the CI/GUID or Package Id depending on the item type.

Another option is selecting the Task Sequence and selecting Distribute Content – the wizard will show any referenced content that is not yet distributed.

    Lastly, within the Admin Console…

  17. PowerShell Script status

    1. Take me right to script status after running the script.

    2. Under Script status after deploying script allow for filtering/export/reporting.

  18. Remove Dependencies on WDS

Server 2016 no longer has a min-gui feature. With this removal, it is only possible to deploy a distribution point that supports Operating System Deployment to a server with a full gui.

Distribution points are perfect candidates for server core! They should be fully supported, including PXE booting for Operating System Deployment.

  19. Run Scripts: Ability to Edit Scripts

In 1706, once you create a script and approve it (or deny it) there is no way to alter the script except but to create a new one. Would be great to have the ability to set the script back to waiting for approval, which would unlock the code to be edited.

  20. PostOOBE

Copied and pasted from a closed feature request.

Below is a feature that we at the AFECMO could use to ensure that our branding can be competed in a singe TS step. With out this functionality we have to create a task sequence step to manually run setup.exe with the desired arguments.

Several command-line options are available to upgrade Windows 10 (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/commercialize/manufacture/desktop/windows-setup-command-line-options).
By default, the "Upgrade operating system" task use the following command "Setup.exe /auto Upgrade /NoReboot /Quiet /DynamicUpdate Disable /ImageIndex 1 /PostOOBE <location> /PostRollback <location>" and if you want to use other switches, you must delete the…
