SMB1 / SMBv1 (deprecated) is used in Configmgr 1706 to Capture Windows 10 1709.

By default, SMB1 / SMBv1 is not installed by default in Windows 10 1709.

Please update Configmgr to accept SMBv2/3...

2. Save-CMSoftwareUpdate cmdlet crashes PowerShell console

Sometimes, when the cmdlet comes across certain cumulative Office updates, it crashes the whole PowerShell console, which makes it very inconvenient, when this cmdlet is used in scope of a scheduled task. The thing is that in such case, the script just terminates like nothing happened, which requires some advanced wrappers to be built around to alert when such issues occur.

Here's the event that gets logged in the Application log:

3. Add-CMScriptDeploymentType -AddDetectionClause "OR" functionality

It would be helpful to have the ability to select OR as a Connector Value (which only has 2 states AND, OR) for the AddDetectionClause of Add-CMScriptDeploymentType
The best example of this is when trying to create a ConfigMgr Client Update application. The client has a different GUID depending on whether it is x86 or x64.

Why am I making a separate application deployment for the client upgrade as opposed to the built in one? The built in one will not use the files local to itself and pull the entire content accross the WAN again. So building an applicationā€¦

Support for advanced detection clauses was added in 1810.

Example:
PS PS4:\> $cla1=New-CMDetectionClauseFile -FileName filetest -PropertyType Size -ExpectedValue 123 -ExpressionOperator IsEquals -Path C:\ -Value -Is64Bit
PS PS4:\> $cla2=New-CMDetectionClauseFile -FileName foldertest -PropertyType DateCreated -ExpectedValue (Get-Date) -ExpressionOperator LessThan -Path C:\ -Value
PS PS4:\> $cla3=New-CMDetectionClauseRegistryKey -Hive ClassesRoot -KeyName aaa
PS PS4:\> $logic1=$cla1.Setting.LogicalName
PS PS4:\> $logic2=$cla2.Setting.LogicalName
PS PS4:\> $logic3=$cla3.Setting.LogicalName
PS PS4:\> Add-CMMsiDeploymentType -AddDetectionClause $cla1,$cla2,$cla3 -ApplicationName app -DeploymentTypeName dt -InstallCommand mycommand -ContentLocation “\\127.0.0.1\C$\CCMTools\Orca.Msi” -GroupDetectionClauses $logic1,$logic2 -DetectionClauseConnector {LogicalName=$logic2;Connector="or"},{LogicalName=$logic3;Connector="or"}

4. Enable Role-Based Administration for Scripts .

The Scripts node is great - I want to be able to control it with RBA - "only allow users in the XXXX AD group to run scripts scoped to it, to collections that they have access to"

5. BootMedia Version and PackageID

Place a file on the BootMedia to identify it with the PackageID and the Package Source Version. If you have different BootMedias (Test, Prod, ...) or FieldService that does not know which one they used to create the USB Stick, it would be very helpful, to easily find the PackageID and the Version of the Media.

6. New Software Center for 1706 - Options Tab -> Power Management settings do not stay ticked

In several 1706 environments, when users are given the option to override their power management plans, the New Software Center does not reflect them "ticking" that box once the software center is closed and re-opened. All the other settings seem to "stick". My guess is that the "Apply" button was taken away on purpose (was there in 1702) and this may have been overlooked. Please take a look and provide any information on a fix for this functionality.

7. Office 365 Required Updates in 1706 Should Not Force Applications to Close

We can not have production applications close automatically.

Revert back to having required Office 365 updates install at reboot by default and make the force closing of applications with optional display/postpone options a separate configurable option which can be selected per deployment (not client policy).

8. Need WSUS Maintenance tasks

There should be a few built in maintenance tasks to go through and complete all the maintenance tasks that are needed for WSUS. I find having to run through these steps every month to be quite tedious requiring a lot of change control each month to get the maintenance work completed for WSUS.

Everything described in this article should be automatically done by CM: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/configurationmgr/2016/01/26/the-complete-guide-to-microsoft-wsus-and-configuration-manager-sup-maintenance/

9. Set-CM<Type>DeploymentType fails with Invalid Property when updating Content Location

Since I updated to 1706, any of the Set-CM<Type>DeploymentType cmdlets fail with an error when I try to update the content path/location to another location. Based on the error message, it seems the cmdlets need to have extra parameters added to handle the separate Install and Uninstall content paths/locations. Perhaps you could add -UninstallContentLocation and a switch for -UninstallContentSameAsInstallContent.

10. Allow customizable Software Center notifications for upgrade task sequences

For Windows servicing and in-place upgrade task sequences, grant the ability to customize all fields of the popup. With 1610 custom messaging was added, but it only applies to one field. Suggestions are as follows:
For the first one:

ā€¢ Messaging is unclear as it says "Critical software maintenance must be completed on your computer afterā€¦" when in fact it needs to be done before or by the date highlighted.

ā€¢ We were originally going to recommend rephrasing that but instead would ask to make all fields customizable inside of SCCM to tailor messaging to the organization's end users. This

Most of the asks here have been completed.

These two smaller UV items remain. Please use your freed up votes to help us prioritize:

Customize “critical software” text:

11. There are no task sequences available to this computer

We have experienced the issue for Unknown computers,
"There are no task sequences available to this computer. Please ensure you have at least one task sequence advertised to this computer"

As per below blog, this issue is fixed in 1702 update rollup
https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/configurationmgr/2017/08/03/error-there-are-no-task-sequences-available-to-this-computer-during-a-pxe-boot/

However, the issue still occurring after 1702 rollup fix.

12. Run Script under System context

The new Script functionality in the console allows deployment to a machine, but runs at USER level, not SYSTEM. We adhere to best practise and users are not admins, thereby limiting its utility for admin functions.

It also prevents us from running cleanup scripts which require the system context (specific case is stuck BITS transfers initiated by CCM)

15. Software Update Error after Installing Feature Update 0x80070422

When Installing Feature Update 1607 or 1703 via WSUS and Software Update Group the clients System Center reports error 0x80070422.
The error is reported, even the client installed the feature update fully successful. This is caused, by a delay or not running Services after the first boot of the Client after the Feature update. A solution could be, that the ccmexec process waits longer for the Windows update Service to Startup or Trigger the start of the Windows update Service itself.

16. "Do not apply power settings from my IT department to this computer" Doesn't stay ticked.

SCCM 1703 - The "Do not apply power settings from my IT department to this computer" setting doesn't stay ticked although the setting does in fact apply. If I then close Software Center and reopen it, the tick has gone but the management is still bypassed correctly.

17. RBA Viewer that works with CM CB

The RBA Viewer that is released in 2015 constantly crashes in my production system. I was able to get it to work in a lab running an older verison of SCCM.

So far it crashes with CM1606 and 1702

Can RBA Viewer be updated to support the new permissions that have been introduced over the past 2 years and updated it with every release of CM CB?

If there are no plans to update rbaviewer can a statement be released that the current version is not supported with CM1606 and beyond?
Or whatever version you feel is appropriate?

20. Add a column to device collections not only for Operating System but build/releaseid

Is it possible to add a column to device collections for OS build / release id (i.e. Windows 10 1703 or Windows 10 15063.xxxx) to easily identify the installed Windows 10 version. The column Operating System is sometimes not quite enough information. Thanks!
