  5. 64-bit only OS Deployment and 64-bit Client

SCCM should have a native 64-bit client. With most computers having more than 4GB of RAM, 64-bit should be the only deployment option available. Like Apple, it's time for 64-bit only!

  6. Implement a "Suspend Task Sequence" Step in OSD like the LTISuspend.wsf script in MDT

During a build and capture task sequence, it can be necessary to suspend the build so that one can run some application installs, make customization's, etc. These customization's can require reboots, which kill the task sequence. Please implement a solution similar to the LTISuspend.wsf script in MDT, where you can run the step and it creates a shortcut on the desktop to resume the task sequence.

  7. Fix Peer Cache limit to subnet

Currently peer cache is still not a usable feature. We have found that all systems see themselves on the same subnet because of the Teredo Tunneling Adapter. They are all on the same IPv6 subnet. This has almost been found by a 3rd party vender (https://2pintsoftware.com/peer-cache-1806/). As Peer Cache is now a release feature and not pre-release, this should be fixed ASAP as it is a broken feature.

  8. Run Powershell Script (Task Sequence Step) passed parameters not visible in logging

When parameters are provided on a 'Run Powershell Script' in a task sequence, the SMSTS.log only logs the name of the script. It does not log the full command (including parameters) that are invoked.

For example: if I call Java.ps1 with parameters -level 1 -language eng the SMSTS.log only shows...

Running powershell script: 'Java.ps1'(PkgID: SCM00000) with execution policy 'Bypass'

This would be helpful in troubleshooting what parameters were actually passed to the script that is executing. Otherwise you have to track down the task sequence and assume everything entered is passed and run. Or you have to build your PS1ā€¦

  9. Bring Desktop Analytics to Configuration Manager

Bring the full new Desktop Analytics to SCCM, at ignite it was presented and you can have it only trough the fast track channel, when we can have the full experience in SCCM that your be great also for the co-managed devices and maybe with a connector to Intune to have the Intune SA clients also in SCCM for an overview.

  10. CMPivot - Additional operators and joins

I'd like to see a few things added to CMPivot after having a chance to use it recently.
    1. Joins: Would be really useful to be able to join data from different entities, like joining process data with the device data to be able see what makes and models are running a specific process that may have a memory leak issue.

    1. Additional Operators: Would be nice to be able to do a math operation on data that comes back, convert memory values to MB/GB with division, etc.

  11. wake on lan

    Wake on LAN server role

Today there is a possibility to enable Wake on LAN proxy role. But this is for clients and also require that there is at least 3 devices that can have this role. And there are issues with support for 802.1x networks.

Many of our locations are small, and we may not guarantee that we have any devices running. But each location have a dedicated server that run the distribution point role. So why not be able to add a dedicated WOL proxy role on servers instead of the clients?

This way we could also limitā€¦

  12. Fix - Console locks up on disconnected/reconnected RDP sessions

In more than 10 different environments, over the past 5 or so versions of SCCM, I have found that my SCCM console will lock up when I have a disconnected session for over a day, then I reconnect to it. For example, if I leave a console, say, over the weekend, I can't do anything with it on Monday. I have to kill it from the task manager. Again, in many different environments. This is only on the site server, that's where I will typically log in and work. I have not seen this behavior in a remote console. Iā€¦

  13. Reduce the amount of time needed perform a CM upgrade

For most companies, Configuration Manager is becoming a mission critical service the requires less and less downtime. Upgrading large environments/DBs can take up to 5 hours for the CAS, and 4-5 hours for primary sites. Also, most customers want to get the latest hotfixes installed right after performing an upgrade. In some cases, the hotfixes take just a long to complete as the original upgrade. Overall, this can require long outages (sometimes 2 days) to get current.

    Potential Solutions:

    1. The ability to upgrade directly to the latest hotfix as noted here:
      https://configurationmanager.uservoice.com/forums/300492-ideas/suggestions/33166225-upgrade-sccm-directly-to-rollup-version

  14. Ability to specify the keyboard layout in the Boot Images properties

I know we can use the DISM command to set the input locale but from my point of view it should exist a field in the Boot Image properties where you could specify the layout you want.

Thanks for all your feedback and suggestions.

Updating status to completed ā€“ see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/configmgr/core/understand/find-help#send-a-suggestion for an explanation of each status.

This is the opt-in phase of our 1910 release (fast ring) and it is now live. Customers can opt-in and then download 1910 through their Admin Console now. In a couple weeks, weā€™ll open it up to everybody (slow ring), to enable downloading without the need to opt-in.

  15. 64-bit update for SCCM Mac client

Since Apple released the 10.13.4 update, whenever we try to install something using the SCCM client, we get an error message saying that Configuration Manager is not optimized for your Mac. I think the following page explains Apples side of this (https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT208436).

The current version of the Mac client (v5.00.8471.1000) that's available for download was released in December 2016. Will an update for the client be released before the next version of Mac OS comes out?

  16. Task Sequence Break Points for Debugging

It would be beneficial if you could set breakpoints at any line item in the task sequence, just like when coding, to stop the task sequence progress. Have a dialog pop up with which you can continue to the next break point.

This was completed – I missed setting the status to completed.

Updating status to completed – see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/understand/find-help#send-a-suggestion

This ask is addressed with our new task sequence debugger now available with our 1906 release.

  17. Automatically Publish Full Content for Third Party Software Updates

With the release of CB 1806 we are now able to publish third party updates using custom catalogs. Ideally, third party patches would function exactly like first party patches from an administration and automation perspective. Currently there's two main areas where this is not the case.

    Synchronization Schedule:
I could be wrong on this but I believe that subscribed catalogs sync automatically every 24-hours. While that's nice, it would be great to simply integrate with the existing sync schedule. Sync the catalogs, publish relevant metadata to WSUS, then sync the SUP(s).

    Automatic Deployment Rules:
Currently, only update metadata is publishedā€¦

This can now work, in #configmgr 2002 production (available now); as long as the 3rd party catalogs are authored in V3 of the catalog schema, and the customer is setting ADR rules at the catagory level. At this time, both PatchMyPC and Dell are authoring and offering 3rd party catalogs. PatchMyPC has a great overview in how to configure this optimally.

  18. Allow Multiple Custom Tabs in Software Center

With 1806 we have the ability to add a custom tab to Software Center. This makes this the place to go for all your IT needs.

We would like to see this extended further by allowing admins to add more than one tab to Software Center. Hopefully our users would never need to leave Software Center for their IT experience in Windows with this feature.

  19. MVP-Powershell client settings for software center

add a new Set-CMClientSetting to customise software center. today the only way is to use the props SettingsXml for SMSSCIClientComp (SoftwareCenter) WMI and create a xml to configure it.

    Updating status to completed.

Support for Windows 10 was added in our 1511 release back when Windows 10 was released. As well as the same Build, Capture, Deploy we’ve had for all previous Windows versions we added a new In-place Upgrade task sequence template and step

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/osd/deploy-use/scenarios-to-deploy-enterprise-operating-systems

Is there a gap in the functionality you’re seeing or something else – let us know, we’d like to address your ask and help you with deploying Windows 10.
