  1. CMPivot Web Portal

We have a lot of people who would love to run queries against our systems (Desktop Support admins for example) that we do not give direct console access to. It would be super helpful to have a web-based interface for CMPivot to allow people an easy method to execute queries.

In addition, a query builder like that of Azure Log Analytics would be helpful as well so we don't have to walk them thru how to write all there queries.

  2. Support PXE responder to run on same server as DHCP

Currently it is not supported to use the built in PXE responder on the same server that is running DHCP. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have their own servers for SCCM DPs.

Thanks for all your suggestions and feedback, updating status to completed.

SCCM 1902 fast Ring released today which has the changes to allow PXE responder to run on the same server as DHCP role.

  3. PowerShell Cmdlet for Modifying Nested Task Sequence (Get/Set-CMTSStepRunTaskSequence)

It would be very helpful to have a cmlet that will allow you to modify the "Run Task Sequence" with PowerShell.

I'd like to be able to script replicating an entire task sequence "suite" (including all of the nested sequences) and re-linking the new nested sequences.

My use case is something like this:
I want to start development work on a new build revision. The script would duplicate the production sequences (both parent and children) and repoint the "Run Task Sequence" steps to new "DEV" child sequences.

This would automate the process and ensure that none of the production sequencesā€¦

  5. Support for Power BI Report Server

Introduce support for Power BI Report Server as a Report Server target to allow SSRS and PBI Reports to be hosted on the same reporting instance, along with in-console report execution.

  6. Run executable package content (posh script or exe) from RAMdisc

I need an ability to run executable content, especially posh scripts, in winpe from RAMdisk. I mean, then there is no initialised or partitioned disks in the system.

  7. Add separate security role permission for CMPivot

Console users must have "Run Scripts" security role permission to use CMPivot. Can you add a separate security role permission for CMPivot so we can make administrative users with CMPivot permission but not "Run Scripts?"

  8. Install Servicing Stack Updates Before Other Updates

Currently, when servicing stack updates and regular updates are deployed in the same software update group, the patches do not apply in a determinant order. This leads to cases where a cumulative update that requires a new servicing stack is installed before the servicing stack itself.

While this can be worked around by separately deploying the servicing stack update before updates that require said servicing stack, it would be much more convenient if the update installation process checked if there are any servicing stack updates to be deployed and automatically installed them first

  9. Remove the need for App Catalog, by providing all functionality in Software Center

Currently, some functionality is only available in the application catalog, and not in software center. Make it so everything can be done in software center, so we can remove application catalog... and Silverlight... and local site security configurations.

  10. Unify Powershell Functionality

The recent Powershell features like 'Run Script' and allowing them to be added directly to a Task Sequence step are fantastic, but things are beginning to feel somewhat fragmented.

It would be great if SCCM had a central script repository, maybe backed by git, that we could pull scripts from as opposed to adding them.

This would allow us to easily use the same code in a Task Sequence and a 'Run Script' without having to maintain it in multiple places. Perhaps we could even add a special Powershell Script Package Program type that would pull a script from theā€¦

  11. Add import code button to new Run PowerShell script task sequence step

The 1811 Technical Preview added a "enter or paste a PowerShell script" function to the "Run PowerShell script" Task Sequence step. That is an awesome feature, but even more awesome would an import code button that automatically puts the code in for you when you direct it to a .ps1 script.

  12. DwnLdr-SPY

    Hi,

I noticed that our company Sophos software picked up a virus that the SCCM Endpoint software did not, can you confirm if the following virus is in your threat catalogue?

    VBS/DwnLdr-SPY aka Trojan.GenericKD.4228438

This has been in the Sophos database since 20 April 2017

  14. CMPivot Eventlog is using Get-Eventlog instead of Get-WinEvent

The current 1806 implementation of CMPivot is using the cmdlet GEt-Eventlog read event log entries. The PowerShell command is:
    $events = get-eventlog -LogName $logName -Newest 50 -ErrorAction Stop

This limits the logs to be read from to logs like Application, Security, System and only some others. On my client (Get-EventLog -List).Count has only 12 logs.

The better command would be Get-WinEvent. Where I can access all logs. The command (Get-WinEvent -ListLog *).Count returns 463 logs.

  15. Queries vs Collections

We have also experienced "Collection Creep". A tool would be handy to view/delete collections from a search criteria, e.g: No Memebers, No Deployments, no membership change in 6 months.

  17. Make it possible to show the Windows Upgrade GUI during an in place upgrade

Actually there is no option to show the GUI for the Windows 10 upgrades. The users want to know whatā€™s going on during an in Place upgrade.

  18. New-CMSoftwareUpdateAutoDeploymentRuleDeployment missing -RequirePostRebootFullScan option.

The New-CMSoftwareUpdateAutoDeploymentRuleDeployment command is missing the -RequirePostRebootFullScan option. This should be added similar to the New-CMSoftwareUpdateDeployment command.

  19. Bug & Solution // Error The SELECT permission was denied on the object 'v_WindowsServicingStates'

    Windows Server 2016
SCCM just upgraded to SCCM CB 1806

When i run the Report "Lifecycle 01A - Computers with a specific software product" and i select "Windows 10, version 1703" it throws an error:
Error The SELECT permission was denied on the object 'v_WindowsServicingStates'
It Works fine if I for example select "Windows 8.1"

I could reproduce it both environments - Test and Live.

    Solution:
smsschmusers had no rights on the view 'vWindowsServicingStates' for select
set it manually, then it works

With a few exceptions (notably most Import/Export-CM* cmdlets do not function at this time due missing framework support in .NET 5), we fully support PowerShell 7.x with our cmdlet library starting with ConfigMgr 2006.

If there are any cmdlets that do not work as anticipated with PowerShell 7 or newer, please send us a frown with more details and we will investigate further.
