  1. Save-CMSoftwareUpdate error RPC server unavailable when connecting under a different account

My idea is to have the scenario described below supported.

When running Save-CMSoftwareUpdate command on a CMSite-PSDrive that connects to a ConfigMgr site in a different domain (used Get-Credential to pass credentials in New-PSDrive call) than the user account the PowerShell window is running as, I get error 'The RPC server is unavailable'.

I can successfully change location to the PS drive, and run other ConfigMgr PS cmdlets.

    Commands:
    New-PSDrive -Name <sitecode> -PSProvider 'CMSite' -Root <siteserverFQDN> -Credential (Get-Credential)
    Set-Location <sitecode>:
    Save-CMSoftwareUpdate -SoftwareUpdateName <name> -DeploymentPackageName <name> -Verbose

    Verbose output from Save-CMSoftwareUpdate call:

  2. The 1802 installer is completely broken when attempting to install against an SQL HA configuration with a listener. The installer

The 1802 installer is broken / bugged when attempting to install fresh to a SQL HA configuration with a listener. The installer will not resolve or parse a named instance into the SQL string even if the pre-req checks are passed. We've tested against 1702 and this works perfectly, so at the moment we are unable to deploy 1802 to our environment at all, because of this bug. This is pretty disappointing as it means we've spent 3 days attempting to work out why this product will not install and has left our new environment without an SCCM platform. Notā€¦

  3. Foreground color for Softwarecenter

When choosing white colour schema you have white letters with white foreground. Would be great if we can choose the foreground colour or if the letters keep black even when you mark Items on white colour schema.

  5. Improved documentation / flowcharts for client activity

It would be nice to know the process or flow that occurs on the client side. This information is often times needed to explain the technology to management. There would likely need to be different flowcharts for each client function. The following is made up 100% and is not correct in any way and not in the correct format, but illustrates the idea.

Client wakes up -> Identification Information sent to Primary Site -> Client receives MP list -> Client receives DP list -> Client randomly chooses MP and requests machine policy -> policy is compared to what has beenā€¦

  6. Powershell: get-cmcollection not returning ObjectPath

The PowerShell cmdlets Get-CMCollection and Get-CMDeviceCollection/Get-CMUserCollection) returns an empty value for "ObjectPath".

This is missing in both 1710 and latest TP (currenty 1801).

This works as expected and ObjectPath = "/":
    Get-WmiObject -namespace "root\sms\site_$siteCode" -query "select * from SMS_Collection where CollectionID = 'SMS00001'"

    This returns null/empty ObjectPath:
    Get-CMCollection -Id SMS00001

  7. Software Center stand alone App

Make Software Center available (as an App?) so that you can see exactly what is in Software Center for a remote machine. You launch the app on your technician PC, supply the machine name and user name and the Software Center shows up on the technician PC with exactly what the user sees. This would be very valuable for level 2 and service desk people to help users.

  8. Client Messaging SDK: Parse client inventory messages to a local file for debug purposes

If you play around with the possibility to send messages like inventory, ddr,... with the Microsoft.ConfigurationManagement.Messaging.dll it would be nice to write the message to a file on the lokal development system (for validation / verify purposes) instead of sending it over the wire to get the result.

  9. Run Scripts feature should support other scripting types (VBScript, Perl, etc)

It would be awesome if more languages were supported for real-time Script deployment in addition to PowerShell. Maybe VBscript, Perl or Javascript, etc.

  10. Include verbose information with import-cmpackage cmdlet

The Import-CMPackage cmdlet does not provide much in the way of verbose output with the -verbose flag. This would be useful to identify what the cmdlet is performing in the background to determine if package already exists with the same name or not.

    Steps attempted:
    $Global:VerbosePreference = "Continue"
    $Global:DebugPreference = "Continue"
    $Global:CMPSDebugLogging = $true

    import-cmpackage -ImportFilePath "\\localhost\c$\Users\Testing\TestPkg.zip" -Verbose

Output: Verbose: Performing the operation "Import" on target "Package: ".

    Trace-Command -Name metadata,parameterbinding,cmdlet -Expression {Import-CMPackage -ImportFilePath "\\localhost\c$\Users\Testing\TestPkg.zip" -WhatIf} -PSHost

  11. OSD - Have different command-line options in the "Upgrade Operating System Task Sequence" to upgrade Windows 10

Make the Upgrade Step more customizable. I'd actually like the ability to remove the /quiet tag from the setup.exe command line, and be able to add the additional commands right on that step instead of having to add additional steps to create the those variables.
Add Check boxes for additional preset parameters to enable /disable, and text box to add custom (reflect drivers, etc)

  12. New-CMApplication rejects icons larger than 250x250

New-CMApplication rejects icons larger than 250x250 and returns the warning and error below, even though the SCCM console allows icons up to 500x500.
WARNING: The maximum size of an icon is 250px X 250px.

  13. Incorrect Icon Size When Using New-CMApplication and Set-CMApplication

When using New-CMApplication or Set-CMApplication with the IconLocationFile parameter and an icon at least 128x128 in size, the application is created with a very small icon. I am not certain if smaller icons are effected.

  14. Powershell cmdlet for adding global conditions as requirements

We are using PowerShell as a frontend for creating applications. As default we create multiple deployment type, each of them intented to run in certain environemts. These environemts are defined in some custom global conditions.

When creating the deployment type we can very easily identify which global contitions shold be set as requirement. But we miss a Powershell cmdlet to automize this task. Instead we rely on the application creator to remember to add these conditions.

So far I have found a PS-script that can add one of the build-in conditions, but it fails when trying to add a customā€¦

  15. Improve Content Replication

Content Replication from Site to DPs should be a frustration free Process or SCCM Admins. Unfortunately, I know no customer without smaller or bigger issues in this area.
Here is an uncomplete list of some issues IĀ“ve noticed:
ā€¢ Content Eval - Scheduled Task lost
o SCCM does not check if the schedule task got lost/deleted
o Suggested Solution: SCCM should verify the Scheduled Task on Service Startup
ā€¢ Content Eval - Hash mismatch/Eval fails for package
o When content Eval fails for a package, the admin must manually redistribute it / take care of the error
    o There shouldā€¦

  17. Make Windows 10 Setup Compatibility Scan Language Neutral

It would be nice if a checkbox "Perform Windows Setup Compatibility scan withnout starting upgrade" inside "Upgrade Operating System" step in SCCM Upgrade Task Sequence would be language neutral.

What I mean by this is that we would like to run this scan prior to the Upgrade itself but to be able to do that currently we have to switch the running OS to en-US (the same language as the Upgrade iso), then run the scan and in case an error is found, we need to switch back to original language again and reboot the computer. This is not aā€¦

  20. Do not allow "SMS" as Site Code Name

I found some customers which has "SMS" as name of SCCM site. This make a lot of problems with normal management. This name should also be make as do not allowed (wizard blocks also other names). And if already named, it should allow one time change.

We do document this, and this has been the case since at least SMS 2003.

    See:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/279868/reserved-site-code-names-in-sms-2003-and-configuration-manager
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/servers/deploy/install/prepare-to-install-sites

I’ve also confirmed that Setup disallows you from using the several “reserved” site code names and has done so since at least 2012 SP2.

Was unattended setup used? That’s the only way I can think of that may have bypassed this validation.
