  1. Allow software update installation at shutdown

Everyone who knows WSUS misses the feature in ConfigMgr to allow the installation of software updates when the machine is shut down. This is being requested for a very long time now. For most businesses it's not the best approach to install updates only when a user is logged on. Of course the scenario changes with Windows 8 and 10, but it's still a valuable addition to the option a ConfigMgr admin should have.

  2. Allow copying text from deployment monitoring "More details" window

The "More Details" right-click function in the Asset Details view under each monitored deployment currently does not allow you to highlight and copy any of the text. This might sometimes be handy while sending deployment information to colleagues or building hand-made lists of computers with a specific error status, etc.

  3. Control cache size using client settings

It would be nice to be able to control the client cache size settings using the client settings policies. This way you have a simple way to increase it if you have a package which is larger than the initial deployed size.

  4. Ability to click back when and re-try when a Task Sequence dependency is not found

At the minute have to completely restart the TS when a dependency is not found. Could we not introduce a retry option once the dependency issue is resolve. Similar to checking for installation pre-req's

  5. Better control of settings like fallback of SUP site, Bandwith limitation, replication priorities of metadata

better control weather I want a site to fallback to primary or not.
real bandwith limitation instead of current posibility. Control priority of metadata

  6. Fix the Software Update Task Sequence (built-in TS patching during OSD)

How is this still a problem? Ask any MVP and they all agree: the built-in task sequence for patching during OSD doesn't work. It doesn't survive double reboots, it has a upper patch limit before it crashes ... it's basically garbage. I don't mind making golden images in MDT, but I shouldn't _have_ to ... and yet I do. I makes SCCM feel less like a singular solution.

We’d ask if you encounter issues with the Install Updates step to file a bug or engage support so we have logs etc. to work with to help diagnose and solve your issues. Also, if there’s specific asks for additions to the feature or documentation please open additional User Voice items.

Today we published a new article and related flowchart to provide some insight and guidance for using the Install Software Updates task sequence step.

  7. Bundle MDOP into SCCM already

We already get App-V for free for use with RDS, just lets just go value add with this for SCCM. It would make sooooo many people so happy.

Why can't I use the DaRT unless I have MDOP? Again: the amount of pain it saves in the mass deployment world makes it an awesome add-on.

I can see why MDOP would be a separate purchase for people who are trying to get away with just MDT ... but for those who paid for SystemCenter and are thus paying for an annual subscription ... these are all things the base SCCM…

  8. PowerShell cmdlets need to be cleaned up

I use a LOT of PowerShell ... and the PowerShell modules in SCCM are ... well... bad.

Issue 1: I should not have to set my running location to a site to run a cmdlet. No one uses a set-location to make sure they are in the AD domain root before running a get-ADUser (unless they have a multi-domain environment and need to call something specifically), yet SCCM requires this to be true. It makes scripting needlessly complex.

Issue 2: there are a pointlessly large number of cmdlets. Do I really need a Get-CMDeviceCollection and a separate Get-CMUserCollection? Why can't…

Every time you add additional columns to display in the views it is lost when you close/reopen the console.

  12. Detection and remediation scripts should have more control over the execution of PowerShell

When defining a Configuration Item with Powershell have the possibility to influence the behavior of the script (eg -noprofile, setting allowed time to run)

  13. automatically search all sub-nodes

Currently, when changing nodes from Application, to Packages to Collection, every time you begin a search, you must re-check the box to 'Search all Sub-nodes'. As the average SCCM admin might make dozens of searches a day to find content, computers, collections, this is really irritating. It would be a better behavior to automatically search all sub-nodes.

  14. Make hyperlink on properties page take you to content status (was Admin Console UI fix)

When in the properties of an application, package etc on the summary tab there is a hyperlink to content status. It would be a very productive update to take you directly into the status of the object instead of dumping you into the root of content status and having to search for the application etc you were just in.

  15. Support installation of packages/apps via dynamic variables in Standalone Media

At the moment standalone media deployments only work when the content is referenced directly by the task sequence. There are some actions like installing apps/packages using dynamic variables which do not work.

The pre-staged media wizard was changed with SCCM 2012 SP1 so that you can add additional pre-staged content. I would like to see a similar approach where you can add additional content to standalone media and then this is checked first when the dynamic install action runs. There is already a process for adding the variables to the media, the only part that is missing is the ability…

  16. Automatic Client upgrades after upgrading Site with Cumulative Update (CU)

When upgrading your site with a CU, have the clients automatically upgrade as well instead of creating a Package Deployment.

  17. Allow interaction with the user when installing applications as System

Many places like to give users custom UIs when an application is being installed. It would be nice to be able to prompt the user for input or give them information without losing the ability to add that application to a task sequence.

  18. Check for running .exe, give the User the option to postpone

It would be nice to have an integrated solution for that. I would like to have the option to add the programs ".exe" names to the application in sccm. during deployment, if the .exe is currently running, it should ask the user to close it or give the options:
    - postpone deployment
    - close the application and start update immediatly

if the .exe is not running, it should just go ahead and install it without asking.

and also a silent version of this: check if the .exe is currently running, if no -> go ahead and install. if it's running…

There are many comments on this feedback item. We’ve read over them many times while building this feature and feel that we’ve hit the core functionality for this request in the 1702 release and so today we are marking this feedback item as complete.

We look forward to all of your passionate commentary, and votes, on the parts of this feedback that aren’t included in the current release to help us decide where to focus our efforts next.

Details can be found here https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/enterprisemobility/2017/03/26/now-available-update-1702-for-system-center-configuration-manager/.

As always, thank you for your passionate support and feedback.

    Mark

  19. Daisy chain Task Sequences (OSD and non-OSD)

I would like to see the ability to launch one task sequence from within another task sequence. For some processes, you run the same steps across multiple deployments. Today, you have to duplicate these steps across many task sequences. The ability to execute a task sequence from a task sequence would alleviate this need and reduce errors and inconsistencies for administrators.

This features is included in #ConfigMgr 1710 release.

    General Blog: https://cloudblogs.microsoft.com/enterprisemobility/?p=67486
    Docs: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/plan-design/changes/whats-new-in-version-1710

The notes for the 1711 Tech Preview apply here too and we’ll continue to work on these

Console actions are fixed in many instances where we didn’t traverse the referenced packages/content
Export now exports child task sequence and referenced content – secrets are cleared from the referenced task sequences too
Task Sequence import now works and detects duplicates
Copy action copies parent and all reference to child task sequences
Delete action detects if there’s a parent child relationship and displays what’s affected
Similarly deleting packages that are in child task sequences is detected and shown in the delete package wizard
Initially we had limited to one level – now there’s no limit, but use that wisely
Related to the above, we do not permit a circular reference i.e. a parent cannot reference same parent, a parent cannot…

  20. Show version incompatability and allow ability to upgrade console to match the Primary site version of Configuration Manager

Today, you can be running a console with one version, that is not in synch with what is running on the primary. The only way you'll know is if you are missing features added to a newer release or if troubleshooting leads you down that route. You have to check the about page in the console to verify version number and compare that against what is installed on the Primary site server to see if they match, what I'm proposing is an easy visual way in the console to inform you when your versions don't match, and to offer the…
