Don't install VC++ 2005 redistributable during the ConfigMgr current branch client installation as it is a 10+ year old pre-requisite. Make it so only the latest version of C++ is installed.

Replace the OSD Boot Image "Enable CMD Support (testing only)" feature with something that is more robust, helpful, and useful outside of testing like the F8 Troubleshooting Environment Steroids (F8TES).

  4. Task Sequence Error Dialog Box Needs to Show Step Name

The error dialog box for the task sequence shows the error code, but does not show you what step threw the error.
    - Show the step name on the default error dialog box.
    - The modal dialog box for errors goes directly over the progress dialog box, so you can’t see the step from there without using the mouse.
    - You may not have mouse support, especially when you are RDPing into a box with a VMware or Hyper-V console… which means this is REALLY frustrating

  5. Allow Retry After Early Failures in OSD Instead of Angry Reboot

There are a lot of common failures right at the beginning of the task sequence that cause a lot of anger. Can we please allow a retry for these three common scenarios that happen right at the start?

    No Network Connection
    - If you hit “Next” before the network has started… or before your network cable was plugged in, it should give you an error that you can retry after the network situation is fixed.

    No Task Sequence Found
    - This often comes up because there really is no task sequence targeting the device, even though you thought it should…

Thanks for all the feedback, updating to completed. SCCM 1702 is now available, see here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/plan-design/changes/whats-new-in-version-1702 for more details. Check the section “Return to previous page when a task sequence fails”

Other feedback items for showing the missing references, Unknown vs. Known are all captured in our database and will be considered for future releases.

  6. Correct technet guide about AlwaysOn

The guid https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt651651.aspx is incorrect or missing some steps.

    1. It mentions Endpoints a few times, while it has meen listener. Listener is not the same as endoint . AONAG must have a listener and the listerner name must the provided as sql server name

    2. The port of listener must match the port of SQL Servers

    3. BEFORE adding the DB to AONAG (if the new server is different than current one), run the following:

    ALTER DATABASE cmXXX SET ENABLEBROKER
    ALTER DATABASE cm_XXX SET TRUSTWORTHY ON;

    =================
    Incremental Collection Updates

When you enable incremental updates for a collection, Configuration Manager periodically scans for new or changed resources from the previous collection evaluation and updates a collections membership with these resources, independently of a full collection evaluation. By default, when you enable incremental collection updates, it runs every 10 minutes and helps keep your collection data up-to-date without the overhead of a full collection evaluation.

When you create a new collection, incremental updates are disabled by default.

But by default, the value is now 5minutes as verified in SP1, R2, R2…

  9. Windows 10 Desktop Full Wipe in Intune Hybrid Implementation

Currently, only retirement/partial wipe is supported for an Intune enrolled Windows 10 Desktop device when Intune is in a hybrid implementation with Config Manager ('Current Branch' 1602 in my testing).

In Intune standalone, full wipe is supported on Windows 10 Desktop. I'd like to request this feature makes its way to Intune Hybrid.

This is fixed in the just shipped #SCCM 1802 release. For both Primary User, and Logged on user. We still will improve a couple things:
    1) it is only in devices views; and we will add it in more views (collections, etc.)
    2) We actually think we can do even better than this, and use the SCCM fast channel to show currently logged in now users. If you like this idea, vote here:

  11. Code change for the Service Connection Tool to allow proxy configuration

ConfigMgr 1511 CB's Service Connection Point came out of the box with a pretty cool ability to support Offline \ On-Demand updates even for those without internet access to their ConfigMgr environment through the Service Connection Tool. However for those in environments who have to content with Proxy this becomes an issue. While you can configure the site server system with proxy information that is only good for the system housing the Service Connection point, this post is requesting a change to add a switch and code base to support the switch to the Service Connection Tool to allow the…

  12. Software Center: Add support for direct link to application and direct link to installation via protocol handler.

The new Software Center supports the "Page" command line option, but I could not find a way to jump directly to an app details page (the one that shows the Install button).

(I'd like to change my application catalog notification tool to open softwarecenter instead of iexplore with the app details page.)

Additionally it would be nice if the tab/page changes respecting the new command line given when software center is already open.

  14. Add a custom section to osdinjection.xml

Add a custom section to the osdinjection.xml fie (just like we have for configuration.mof), that makes it easier to add custom settings after the upgrades. As it is now, 1602 upgrade will override the existing file. Future upgrades might do the same. A custom section will make it so much easier for us to add our stuff back thus not loosing valueable changes.

    Setting to Completed

In 1606 release there’s changes made to Boot Image Customization. \sms\pkg\sms00001 is now added to path – that package path is what’s added in the Package used for the Prestart command (see Boot Image Customization tab)

Any tools etc. in that path can be accessed in WinPE. Any updates can be done via updating the Package, then refreshing content.

  15. Add a 'View report in Web Reporting' button to Monitoring\Reporting

Reports are awesome! But it would be much better if we could right click a report on the console and jump directly into viewing it on the web, or better yet, copy link to clipboard.

  17. Software Center - Software changes dialog box details link should link through to Installation Status tab

    Scenario:
    - Deployment with installation deadline- End user receives a "Software changes are required' notification (balloon/toast)
    - End user clicks the notification
    - A dialog box opens showing the number of required changes, restart requirement and some options for scheduling
    - When clicking view details (next to required changes) Software Center opens in the application tab

On the applications tab there is no indication what item the change notification is referring to. The actual purpose of the change remains unclear for the end user.

It would be nice if the view details link opens the Software Center in the Installation…

  18. Software Center - Highlight relevant item after user clicks "new software is available" notification

    Scenario:
    - End user receives a "new software is available notification' (balloon/toast)
    - End user clicks the notification
    - Software Center opens and shows the "Applications" tab

There is no indication which is the new item where the notification refers too. The user needs to look for any new items in a potentially large list.

It would be nice if the relevant item would be highlighted and/or (temporarily) be listed somewhere on top of the list.

  19. Issue with Integration with Windows Update for Business in Windows 10 page

    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt488782.aspx

There are issues with this article. It states incorrectly useWSUSServer instead of UseWUServer.

In addition in ConfigMgr 1602, the inventory of this registry key is not enabled by default and should be enabled using Hardware Inventory.

Hi Jean-Sébastien – since you posted this, we’ve updated the registry key setting. As of 1606, the hardware inventory class is enabled by default. Look to see an update to the procedure that shows how to enable the feature in coming updates.

Thanks for the feedback – keep it coming!

  20. Convert from Legacy BIOS to UEFI using one task sequence

    Scenario:
You have a current environment where you have deployed Windows 7 x64 OS, or similar, and you have your BIOS configured in Legacy mode.
You would like to be able to take advantage of the new Windows 10 features, such as "Credential Guard" therefore you need to enable Secure Boot and UEFI BIOS.
You would like to do this in one task sequence.

This scenario currently is not possible because SCCM knows if you are running UEFI or not - and has builtin safeguards.

    Workaround:
Currently it's possible to create 2 task sequences.
    1 Task contains the following:
    Script…
