  1. CMTrace Toggle in Software Center

    The ability to toggle split pane cmtrace in Software Centre. I like to see what’s going on when I’m patching, the ability to toggle a CMTrace pane showing tabs for the relevant client logs during patching e.g wuhandler.log, updateshandler.log, statemessage.log

    • Infrastructure health Dashboard

      I would love to see a infrastructure health dashboard. A go to location for making sure all MPs, SUPs, DBs etc. are healthy, rather than having to go through system statuses in the console. Perhaps have some tiles that show how many endpoints are hitting each MP, SUP as well.

      • The 1802 installer is completely broken when attempting to install against an SQL HA configuration with a listener. The installer

        The 1802 installer is broken / bugged when attempting to install fresh to a SQL HA configuration with a listener. The installer will not resolve or parse a named instance into the SQL string even if the pre-req checks are passed. We've tested against 1702 and this works perfectly, so at the moment we are unable to deploy 1802 to our environment at all, because of this bug. This is pretty disappointing as it means we've spent 3 days attempting to work out why this product will not install and has left our new environment without an SCCM platform. Not…

          Thank you for the quick response. Did you save any of the logs from the 1802 installation or engage with customer support at any point? We’d have liked to solve this with you, if you do have logs let us know and we’ll figure out how to transfer them.

        • Document creator/filename of Boot Media in Security -> Certificates

          When creating and managing TaskSequence Media it becomes quite cumbersome to keep an eye on which boot media certificates should be blocked or not.
          In our environment support staff will receive predefined *.iso images for OS Deployment to make sure they fit our standards and are tested against. While they have an exipiration date sometimes we want to revoke certain boot medias as they contain debug or testing stages. Currently the only way to manage this is to write down the Certificate GUID upon boot media creation.

              Cancelling or deleting a client operation under Monitoring > Client Operations can only be enabled if the Security Role has security scope set to the All Systems collection. There should be a security permission to enable the ability to cancel or delete client operations instead of adding all systems collection security scope to a role.

                For large environments the ability to log to a central database. this would collective provide a central location for all server logs (DPs, MPs, ect..) deployments with a high server count (500 DPs), if\when there is a issue, the logs role over very quickly and the chance at catching the issue is not likely

                  There should be a built-in PowerShell Cmdlet to disable/enable verbose,debug,sql...etc. logging options instead changing Registry keys.

                  • Software Center stand alone App

                    Make Software Center available (as an App?) so that you can see exactly what is in Software Center for a remote machine. You launch the app on your technician PC, supply the machine name and user name and the Software Center shows up on the technician PC with exactly what the user sees. This would be very valuable for level 2 and service desk people to help users.

                      In https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3213242/software-metering-agent-fails-with-software-metering-failed-to-start-p, MtrMgr.log may indicate that the prepdrv is no longer successfully registered. A potential fix could be adding a CCMEval task which would detect if Metering is enabled on the client, and if so, confirm that prepdrv is successfully registered (read mtrmtr.log, but there may be a better programmatic way to do so), and if not successfully registered, register it.

                          I often repeat the following actions:

                          - Verify Component Status (Monitoring - System Status - Component Status)
                          - Open any Component with Status Warning or Error.
                          - Verify the Warning or Error is Solved
                          - Reset All Counts for this Component.

                          A Typical example: Restart the Site Server.
                          All Management Points complain that the Site Server is unavailable.
                          But in they also report the System is Online again.

                          MP File Dispatch Manager running on the management point "mp.company.com" cannot connect to site server "SiteServer.company.com". The operating system reported error 53: The network path was not found.

                          • Integrate Servicing Extension Tool

                            It would be great if the Servicing Extension Tool released in 2014 would be integrated to the Current Branch Version. Separate installation still works for CB and show all Release KBs, new blogs, Site Versions and Client Targeting. See attached figure. So adding this stuff to current "Updates and Servicing" section as sub point would be fantastic. This helps also the community to see directly new KBs and information about issues etc. and they can faster react to fix it.

                            • SCCM CB recovery Options for Hierarchy if a single PS fails

                              beginning with SCCM CB (Console servicing model), there are 2 Options if a single PS failed during a hierarchy update (e.g. from SCCM 1702 to 1710) if the CAS is already on a newer version:
                              1: Recover the whole hierarchy to a previous version
                              2: Setup/Reinstall the failed PS as new Child Site
                              Option 1 is, if you have an infrastructure with more then 2 Sites (and CAS), not really an option to consider about. Option 2 forces you to setup all prior installed and configured Site Systems again (DP/Client etc.)

                              Possible options for implementation of a single PS “recovery/upgrade”…

                                I want to beable to replicate all logfiles from ccm client to server into a folder structure build like Site / computer name
                                This will make it easy to read logfiles from failed installation easier. even when client is offline
                                This should be done automatic when the logfiles is updated.

                                • when importing drivers or any other task, display hyperlink to log file

                                  When importing drivers and many other tasks, configuration manager displays a notice for the logfile to monitor the task, but there is no hyperlink to open the same. The admin shouldn't have to go searching for these logs, but be presented a hyperlink to the directory.

                                    The easiest way to find a device on a network is with the physical layer information. I can't even understand why this wouldn't be an option. At times while troubleshooting getting the IP address from the end user is the only information that you can gather.

                                      Is it possible to add a way to view Config Manager Client scheduled actions as interpreting scheduler.log needs a manual when you factor in randomisation and deferals?

                                          If Hardware Inventory is limited to the default 5MB MIF File size it likely fails with Asset Intelligence enabled (Recently Used Apps) on a number of clients, because inventory gets too big. Make the client aware of the maximum MIF size (should be configureable in the console, not registry). to not send HWInv, if its clear that it will be dropped. Send Status message indicating that instead. Maybe determine the class causing that (# of instances per class should indicate that easily) and exclude it for affected clients (but send status message warning also). And also do not send delete…
