  1. Do something with Operating System tab

When deploying a custom task sequence that only contains applications and no operating system it confuses our users.

Suggest to rename Operating System tab with something else like Package Bundles. Or (after you add icon support for task sequences) have custom task sequences in the Applications tab instead of Operating Systems.

Updating status to noted. See https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/configmgr/core/understand/find-help#send-a-suggestion for an explnation of each value.

Our 2002 release is now in the opt-in phase. We have added a task sequence deployment type which allow icon customization.

You can opt-in and then download 2002 through their Admin Console now.

Custom task sequences will always appear in the applications tab unless the steps indicate that it is an OS Deployment task sequence e.g. has a boot image reference and restart to WinPE step or a Upgrade OS step.

Try out task sequence as deployment type and let us know your feedback and if your ask is addressed with that new feature.

  3. Friendly/Localized names for task sequences

I'd like to see the ability to give Task Sequences friendly/localized named, like you can with apps/packages. In fact, replicating the entire "Application Catalog" tab of an application properties dialog in the task sequence properties dialog would be even better. This would also give the option of TS-specific descriptions/icons/keywords/categories/etc.

My reasoning is that our organization is effectively multi-tenant, and we're required to name our task sequences and other content with prefixes denoting department. This makes for annoying and unfriendly TS names when listed in Software Center or the task sequence list of WinPE. I see no reason why endpoints shouldā€¦

Updating status to Noted – see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/configmgr/core/understand/find-help#send-a-suggestion for an explanation of each value.

Our 2002 release is now in the opt-in phase.

Part of the new feature set is the addition of the task sequence deployment type. With that you would be able to use the friendly/localized name – this only applies to Software Center.

  4. Foreground color for Softwarecenter

When choosing white colour schema you have white letters with white foreground. Would be great if we can choose the foreground colour or if the letters keep black even when you mark Items on white colour schema.

  5. Download size in Software Center

As currently as version 1702, the download size for all of the applications and packages in Software Center show "less than 1 MB" and won't show the correct size until after you start the install. This has been happening for a long time.

  7. delete tag "NEW" in software center after if application is already installed

When new applications are available, they are tagged NEW in the software center during 7 days.
But if a user install the application, the tag NEW don't disappear

Can you delete tag NEW after installation?

  9. Allow user to select 'automatically restart' when applying all required changes.

When the user received the 'Software changes must be applied to your computer' there are two radio options:
'Apply all required changes now (recommended)'
'Apply all required changes outside my business hours'

There is also an checkbox that say 'Restart my computer automatically if needed'. However, this checkbox is disabled when the first radio option is selected. I would ask that it remains enabled for both options. We are trying to train users to take an active role in installing updates according to their own schedule. The reboot process has become a large portion of the update process. So ifā€¦

  10. Show PercentComplete in Software Center when installing updates

When installing updates (especially CUĀ“s for Win10/Server2016) it can take a long time until they finished installing.
To show the user that the installation is not frozen or something the ā€œPercentCompleteā€ that you can see in the UpdateDeployment.log should be visible in the Software Center

  11. Available application which is not applicable must not show up in Software Center

[This is sort of an extension to https://configurationmanager.uservoice.com/forums/300492-ideas/suggestions/13002684-software-center-show-only-available-software-hid?]

Obviously, we can create applications with multiple deployment types in SCCM, each with its own set of requirements. Now say I create a simple MSI-based application with one deployment type, which has a requirement that Primary device must be true. If I make this available to a user collection, then it shows up for each of those users on their primary devices as available in Software Center. All great so far.

However, if one of those users logs in to a non-primary device, the application still shows up as available, andā€¦

  12. Bring back Software Center Command line arguments

In SCCM 2012 R2 you could start software center with a specific start page using then command line arguments "StartPage" and "FilterType". We relied on those when triggering software center from our internal Tools that our users were familiar with. Please bring them back again.

  13. Software Center: tile view

If youĀ open the Applications tab in tile view you can't see the status, if an application is already installed. Pls. add an 'Installed' band (in green?) like the 'New'

  14. Software Center not scaling properly

    Hi

We have deployed SCCM 1606 to 50 Windows 10" Windows tablet and when in portrait mode maximizing the Software center doesn't show the right hand side of the screen. Please look into the scaling of software center

    Many Thanks

  15. Ability to customize Application catalog

It would be very nice and useful for many customers to have the ability to customize the application catalog site in terms of custom backgrounds/icons or page layout.

  16. Add "Approval" column to the new Software Center

While I do like the new Software Center, I'd like to see "Approval Yes/No" directly in the application list again, like with the old one.
With the new one, users can only determine if an approval might be required by actually selecting an entry, that's a setback to before.

  17. Software Center: Add Ability to Launch the Application

Would like to have the ability for the end user to not just install an available deployment, but also launch it there. The way I envision this happening is once the user has installed an available deployment, the "Install" button would change to a "Launch" button, and the Uninstall button would be perhaps a separate button, etc., or perhaps even the icon of the application could be used to launch it and the Install/Uninstall behavior could remain the same.

The benefit of this would be (1) if you removed the start menu or other entry points to the application andā€¦

  18. Software Center: Include "Description" under Operating System menu

Include "description" under Operations Systems menu in Software Center instead of Publisher as mostly we deploy Windows OS from Microsoft.

  19. Software Center icon on desktop

I would love the ability to put the Software Center icon on the desktop instead of burying it in the Start menu. That way my users have a quick and easy way to get to it. Maybe there's already a way to do it?

  20. Software center - Drop down lists

I would be nice to have the possibility to add drop down list in the Software Center to allow the user to select for example witch application language he would like to install. This would be useful for large organization that have to deal with many languages.
