1. Available deployment status message once received in software center

When we do an available deployment for Applications, Packages and Task Sequences in SCCM, we can't get the status of how many machines have received the deployment and made available in software center for the user to initiate.

It would be helpful if we can get a report for how many machines have got this available deployment in the software center OR if we get a status message in DB to identify how many machines have received the available deployment in software center and waiting for the user's action on it.

This will help us to create an accurate complianceā€¦

2. More User Notifications

Add the following user notifications to a deployment:
ā€¢ Display in Software Center and hide all notifications
ā€¢ Hide in Software Center and show all notifications
ā€¢ Hide in Software Center and only show notifications for computer restarts

3. Rework the Asset Message Pane

Especially when I am testing a Task Sequence Deployment, I like to check the status messages that the SCCM Site receives from the clients.
Much easier to see steps and associated exit codes than waiting for the build to finish and trawling the log file.

Monitoring>Deployments>(Deployment)>In Progress>(Machine)>More Details> Status

The only problem with it, is that the actual dialog box that pops up has no window controls, so you have to drag the edges to read the info, and more often than not when you hover over the message so you can read it, it closes after a couple ofā€¦

5. Implement reporting (tracking) for package on demand distribution

For the Feature described here https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg712321.aspx> Scenario 7 ability to distribute packages on demand - there is no way of traking or reporting if this was Happening to the package. I would like to have a report reflecting what packages have been initiated by this Distribution method. This might be be a package flag. Today the only way of seeing this is looking at the MP LM with advanced logging turned on finding

<ProvisionDPRequest SchemaVersion="1.00"><Packages PackageID="CAS00010"><DP NALPath="["Display=\\wcp2.test.msft\"]MSWNET:["SMS_SITE=CP2"]\\wcp2.test.msft\" SiteCode="CP2"/></Packages></ProvisionDPRequest>

6. Assume breach - "Freeze all" button

In case of a breach, some malicious guy may deploy unwanted content to clients.
It would be great to have some function (not necessarily in the console, could be PSH)
- freezing distribution of a content if being distributed and/or
- freezing client download if being downloaded by a client
- blocking install if it has begun (using BGB in this case to kill msiexec ?)

7. Right click actions in deployment monitoring

I've noticed in the Monitoring > Distribution Status, we have options to remediate content errors on distribution points. However, in the Deployments section, when clicking on a deployment and viewing errors, we have no options and no actions for remediation. Most of the deployment errors I have seen can be resolved by running a client action.

Example, for all user based deployments. I would have to go to the deployment monitor, get the computer name, go to devices in assets and compliance, search for the computer, and then right click and start the client action. If there are tens orā€¦

8. OS deployment realtime monitor

Sometimes I need to reboot the SCCM server and there are techs in the middle of deploying an operating system. It would be nice to see a live monitor of active os deployments.

9. Monitoring > Deployments - Remember search results when back button is used

From Monitoring > Deployments, if I enter text into the search bar then click Search, click View Status on one of the returned results then click the Back arrow the search results do not reappear.

As I'm lazy I don't like having to retype this :)

10. Refresh button in Status view for Deployments

When viewing the Status tab in the More Details dialog for a particular asset in Deployment Monitoring, it would be very useful to have a "refresh" button similar to that in the Show Status dialog in the Site Servicing Status. Right now, if you want to check the most recent status of a running Task Sequence deployment for a machine, you have to close the Show Status dialog and re-open it to see any changes. With the refresh capability available in the new servicing, it would be nice to see that functionality in other dialogs as well.

11. Change Deployments from Available to Required and Required to Available

We would love the ability to change deployments from Available to Required and Required to Available. Currently we have to remove the entire deployment to switch back and forth, and we loose a lot of reporting data during this process

12. Remove obsolete/redundant adverts/deployments

Machines are often removed from software deployment collections, either that they were added by mistake in the first place or they have genuinely been removed for a particular reason. I have found that even though a machine has been removed from a collection the advert/deployment for that machine is still kept in the dbo.vSMS_ClientAdvertisementStatus table. In view of this the built in reports are not as accurate as they should be because they are tied in to this table containing obsolete data. Is it possible that when a machine is removed from a collection its corresponding advert for that collectionā€¦

13. Live view of active deployments

It would be handy to have a Birdseye view of current deployment activity.

I know that I can view the status of a single deployment, but it would be nice to have a pane that would show all activity going on across all deployments

14. Ability to edit deployment popup banner visible to end users

Give us the ability to edit the deployment banner visible to end users when deploying new applications or software updates. Users normally receive the generic message for all deployments. I would like to edit either within client settings or provide a checkbox during the new deployment window "Edit Deployment message", Therefore, would allow us to edit the message based upon the type or deadline time requirement for either application or software updates.

15. Enhance temporary nodes when viewing deployments

Opening Monitoring - Deployments, double clicking a software deployment, takes us to the Deployment Status.
If i open the Error status tab and double click one of the categories, a temporary node is created, containing the affected computers.
If the temporary node is left open and i go back to the Error status tab and double click another category, i'm brought back to the same temporary node.
This is due to the node being limited to the status and not the category.

I'd like to have the temporary node reflect the category, not just the status.

16. Provide a way such as progress bar for installation status check during Embedded servicing

Software distribution functions with Windows 10 TH2(UWF servicing mode enabled) + CM TP4 agent.
However when the machine restart into servicing mode end user didnā€™t see any progress/status of installation as snapshot below. We know none of the version of ConfigMgr have ever ahd a progress bar during Embedded servicing. Due to user experience improve purpose, that will be better to add progress bar or other information for status check.

17. More Detailed Deployment status View

For monitoring deployment of OSD , it would be better if the detailed status /dashboard is available in Console with status details of steps in task sequence.

18. Add 'Expiration Date' and/or 'Deployment Status' column to Deployments tab for Packages

When looking at the Deployments tab of a package or a collection we would like to add a column that could tell us if a deployment has been expired. This could be the Expiration Date set in the advertisement, or a Status (such as Future / Active / Expired).

In CM07 we could add the Expires After column to the view of Advertisements. This request is to bring back this helpful info into a list of deployments..

This would help make maintenance possible. It is difficult to find the advs that have expired today, to delete them.

Bonus functionality wouldā€¦

19. Historical State Messages

I love status messages and the new state message system is a step backwards. I have no historical data for troubleshooting purposes. If I create a new revision of an application and deploy it, does it have a higher success rate than a previous revision? No clue.

Also, I don't like that state messages are removed for deleted deployments. I want to know what deployment ran on what machine, regardless of if the deployment still exists or not. How do I know what was installed on one machine if the deployment is removed?

There are a ton of instances whereā€¦

20. Custom Error Codes for Chained Programs

Instead of "failing" and stop running on all non-zero return codes, allow acceptable return codes to determine if the install sequence fails or continues. Example, uninstall an MSI to be sure it's not there but if it's not, generates a 1605 return, yet this is really a soft error which we currently have to use a BAT or VB script so we don't get a "failure". It should be up to the engineer to determine what is and is not a "failure". Of course, out of the box any non-zero should continue to be a failure.
