  1. Different detection methods for install and uninstall

We need to be able to have different detection methods for install and uninstall. For large software we need to know that files x, y & z need to exist, shortcuts in the start menu and uninstall entry in the registry. That will be the install detection. All of this needs to be true. But for uninstall we need to know if any of those are still there. The differens is "and" (for install) and "or" (for uninstall).

Detection should also be possible by a ps1-file in the source folder.

    • ccmsetup

Dont allow to start application installation if CCMSetup.exe is in progress.
      Example:
      1. PC is waiting on Maintenance window at Monday 4:00.
      2. Monday 4:00 starts ccmsetup tu upgrade ccmclient (MSIInstaller is in use)
      3. Monday 4:00 starts also SCCM Application to install (Installation fails with 1601 because MSIInstaller is in use by ccmsetup->client.msi)

Step 2 and 3 should not happend asynchronous.

      • Add option to wait for all child processes when installing new application

Add an option to wait for all child processes of the Installation program when creating an Application Deployment Type. This should function similarly to the -Wait option in PowerShell's Start-Process function.

        • Ccmcache automatically deletes application install cache on detection of successful install

Update the application installers so that we can opt to delete the install from ccmcache when it has been successfully installed.

          • Configure application deployment retry

When applications fail to deploy, you need to wait for the next application deployment reevaluation cycle before the next attempt is made to install it (unless the user manually retries via software center).

In the most part, when applications fail generally it's because of something that is going on at the endpoint at that specific time. E.g. reboot pending/a file in use etc etc. Therefore on a second retry (normally after a reboot) the application will install.

It would be good if there was a "Retry Failed Install" option where you could configure if you wanted the application to automatically…

            • Generate a 'fast' deployment option

The idea here is based on customer conversations recently. During the deployment of content (all types in theory) have a tick box in the deployment wizard to make this a 'fast' deployment. This in turn would generate an immediate client action on the target collection to go check for said content which would bypass the routine scheduled check that the client would make.
I appreciate there would be processing time to take into account so the client didn't check before deployment was processed. But of that could be worked around this could be a great option to utilise fast channel. …

              • Multiple Application uninstall

We are seeing that an application can be uninstalled only once by the same deployment. We use to install and uninstall the same application multiple times adding and removing the computer from the install and ininstall collections. For apps unfortunately we do not have the choice to say "Always allow".
When targeted to install an App reinstalls by default at each detection cycle. The uninstall runs only once (no detection method).

In order to avoid to create additional deployments, it would be great if the installation of an app though SCCM could remove the client status message of the successful…

Split this item from a bigger umbrella item.
This is to allow the changing of the default icons for all task sequences, or all package / programs in software center.

                        • Unique Software IDs (SCCM-ID)

In our SCCM environment we use unique Software IDs (SCCM-ID) for Applications and Packages.
At the moment the field "Adminstrator comments" is being used.
An optional field for Software IDs under "General Information" would be very helpful.

                          • Make it possible to choose "Client Local Time" on all deployment types.

                            1. When deploying an application as available, it will by default be set to UTC time in the scheduling section without the ability to change it to "Client Local Time"
                            2. When deploying an application as required, it will by default be set to UTC time, unless I check the "installation deadline" then I get the abillity to choose "Client Local Time"

Here in Denmark and other places in Europe UTC is a bit confusing, we always have to be aware of this when deploying applications eg. I want to deploy an application for the end users at 08:00AM then…

                            • Deploy Application during WinPe phase of Task Sequence

We deploy BIOS updates as applications to existing clients. Applications give nice benefits like detection (WMI query), compliance reporting etc. There are other early boot firmware packages (AMT, NICs...) that could use this model, but BIOS is the most usual.

However we can't use the same Application in Task Sequence WinPE phase to immediatly bring machine up to date during initial deployment/boot. Therefor we must either:
                              A. create a Package just for TS - extra work
                              B. install BIOS updates later after OS deployment. However this brings other complications - experience tells that BIOS should be up-to-date before deploying anything.

In app approval for new deployments, let us have templates based on roles in the Org. like CIO, CEO, CTO etc or AD/Office 365 groups where multiple people can approve where this can be can be reported in Teams etc. This way it will be easier to deploy apps an attach approval.

                                • Pre-download content to cache for required app deployments asap and not wait for deadline

Required deployments of SWUpdates gets downloaded to clients ASAP, but required applications wait for the deadline to hit before downloading the content.
I would like the required application deployment to have the same option to pre-download ahead of the deadline. That way we can be positive the installation start at that time.

Well, not really an idea. I'm on SCCM 1806. I created an Office installation using ODT. When I go to ODT, it is missing an option for Display Level. Not a big deal. I can just go to the xml file, find the display level property and change it from Full to None. Also, there are properties in the xml that don't need to be in there. I think it is more a ODT issue. For example, PinIconsToTaskbar is not required if the value is false. Anyway, I love that the tool is incorporated into SCCM. I think it save…

                                    • Increase Application Dependency Chain limit from 5-10

Currently the supported limit for dependent applications is five.

                                      https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/apps/deploy-use/create-applications#bkmk_dt-depend

I would like to propose an increase of that limit from 5 to 10. Generally speaking a Task Sequence would be ok for handling large numbers of order specific applications, however there are limitations to using a TS for deployment in a large scale environment.
We often find that we are pushing close to the limit of 5 in applications that require things like ".net,odbc, VS debugging,C++ redist, MS DB engine" and so on. When multiple core techs are required at a specific version having a limit of 5 makes…

                                      • Applications should evaluate Requirements before detection

It makes no sense that application detection is evaluated when requirement are not met. Result is application that cannot comply when detection fails due to ie missing features

                                        • Deployment Evaluation Cycle detects manually installed applications (AppDiscovery.log) but does not reflect this status in Software Center

Think about a KeePass application including a working detection method. Click "install" in Software Center, it installs and gets detected correctly.
Now think about a user who manually installed the same KeePass version. The application is deployed to "any machine" as "available". So, this user get's it as well. But it never shows up as installed in Software Center unless I click one time on "install". Even running the "Application Deployment Evaluation Cycle" does not change the button to "uninstall" or list it as installed in "Installation Status". AppDiscovery.log shows the DeploymentType_blabla as "discovered".

                                          We're using SCCM 1802 with all…
