  1. user notifications - task sequences

Install behaviour and inplace upgrade task sequences user notifications could benefit with some improvements.

If users don't meet the set criteria, i.e. have the open application or don't meet the upgrade readiness check, the message to the user shows failure and reports as failure. This is not accurate, it should request the user close affected programs and if it doesn't meet the requirements for upgrade i.e. low disk space, not enough memory, it should display a user friendly message explaining the issue to the customer. A new category, failed readiness check should record this.

    • Integrate certificate for AppX applications

When deploying AppX applications through SCCM you require a certificate that is provided by the publisher.

Although you can deploy the certificate using SCCM it is a separate process to the application deployment.

It would be good to integrate the certificate with the application itself. It would be even nicer if there were options for creating alerts for certificate expiry for the application too.

      • Bug - Office 365 Deployment

Office 365 Client Installation deployment features in 1806 appear to be incomplete and problematic. Uninstall statements are not filled in for one. Application Catalog tab is not filled out either. For some reason, creating deployment sources using the new OCT link integration creates sources which are missing files and generates a 30821-1505 error. Running the setup.exe directly from the source also behaves the same. Running ODT manually appears to work, and the source can be imported into SCCM as it was in prior releases.

        • Add a column for number of distribution points.

Please add a column in views such as "\Software Library\Overview\Application Management\Applications" so that we can see how many distribution sites the app / package has been distributed to.
Its only a small thing but gives a very quick and easy reference to keep peace of mind.

          • Add BITS Priority settings for Package ans Application

BITS job is creates as LOW priority when deploy package or application, but Software Updates download are launched with a BITS priority NORMAL and software updates download prior to package or applications.

If it take a long time to download QU/FU and user want to deploy package or app immediately during client download QU/FU, users cannot do it as far as downloading QU/FU due to the difference of BITS priority.

Add BITS Priority settings for Package ans Application in this scenario.

            • Store a "root" path for Application Content Source

It would be really useful for SCCM to be able to store a root or starting point for application content sources or Software Update Packages etc

Its frustrating having to type out or cut and paste a path every time you create a new application to find the content source data.

For example, you could set a default location for these that SCCM would list for you to select when creating an application i.e.

              Application Package Sources \\server\app-packages\
              Package Source Files \\server\package-store\
              Software Updates \\server\updates\

              etc.

              • Check if Application is installed before downloading whole package

Check if Application is installed before downloading whole package. Currently if I wanted to install Office 365, Configuration Manager will download the whole 2.2 GB file before evaluated if it is already installed.

                • Auto-Uninstall application after specifed period

sometimes we recieve request to install a software for only period of time and we will have to remeber to remove it and it's quite diffilcult especially when period is great. so we need to remove an application at specific time where we ca specify the date during the installation and once the due date is about to end the user gets pop up message to request an extision of the period which require an approval from the console if he applied for it otherwise to be removed.

                  • Support wake up clients via wireless networks (WoWLAN)

It would be great if ConfigMgr would support waking up clients which are connected to wireless networks and support wake on WLAN (WoWLAN) (in all scenarios where ConfigMgr todays supports already WoLAN). I heard rumors that this works already today (?) because the same kind of wake up packages are used by WoLAN and WoWLAN (?) but this scenario is at least still documented as unsupported, see

                    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/clients/deploy/plan/plan-wake-up-clients

I would appreciate a hint if this might work really already today. My customer would love to evaluate/use it today.

                    • Deploy apps with extra registry settings as a post action

In your app, have a tab that says "Tatoo these registry settings in with the install. Install finishes, blam the settings tattoo down.

                      • Schedule Content to be Updated

Have the ability to schedule an update of content. This way, if we change the source of content, we can schedule the update to happen late at night rather than during the day when it will affect business.

                        • Add Priority Column to Applicaions and Packages

It think it would be helpful to include an optional column to display the Priority of an application or package. We schedule DP's for allow high priority only for business hours and occasionally need to override an application to High to force it to distribute.

Also when a new DP is brought online and added to the DP group it automatically starts distributing everything set to High so we have to go in and start changing things to Normal.

If we could add a Priority column to the view it would be easy to sort and find at a glance…

                          • Add .exe installers to the list of application templates

Instead of using script install for a .exe file make a separate one that can read the exe file just like it does the MSI file. Also when you click on the script installer have it look for Powershell or VBS or HTA scripts and not .exe files.

                              • Option for deployment type only with uninstall

I would like to see an option to make a deployment type that only holds uninstall command.

My scenario is the need to superseed multiple old versions of an application I don't have the installation files for.
Luckily the application is always installed with MSI, so I can uninstall with the GUID.
But today ConfigMgr requires an installation command, so there is a potential risk that someone will deploy an installation.
An uninstall only DT would be more right, in my opinion.
I guess an option to disable the install command could be the way to do it.

                                • Option to tag production Packages (SU,Drivers, ...), Applications, TaskSequences

Provide an Option to tag Packages that are productive. This tag should make them read-only (until untagged) and maybe give the dialogues a different color. So all untagged packages would be in development and can be changed (this will also keep operations as is today if not used). On top it would be great to delegate that right (to set or unset that tag) using RBAC to dedicated release managers (away from the packaging team). Also tagging a task sequence and with that all reference packages would be great.
Copying such production packages should be possible to create new release…

                                  • Volume Activation should be built into SCCM

Rather than having added tools like the Volume Activation Management Tool this should be built into SCCM.

                                    • Office 365 Installer - Detection Method

Office 365 Installer - Detection Method
When creating an application for Office 365 using the built-in "Office 365 Installer" feature, the application gets created with a default detection method that only uses the version.
So, if you create 3 separate applications (Office, Project, and Visio), or if you create Applications with different languages, they all have the same detection methods.
So, if you install Office first, you can't Visio or Project.
The detection method should include a product and language:

                                      Examples:
                                      SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\VisioProRetail - da-dk
                                      SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ProjectProRetail - da-dk
                                      SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\O365ProPlusRetail - da-dk

                                      • Add detection methods based on the absence of files or folders.

This option can be useful when you have two deployments that have almost the same detection methods, the same collection (or two collections containing the same computers) to target, and one of them replaces the other. Otherwise you have to mutliply collections or global conditions, which overload the server unnecessarily.

This also poses a reinstallation problem, the replaced application is systematically detected and uninstalled and its replacement is reinstalled at each application deployment evaluation cycle.

For example, the application A has for detection method "The file f1 exists" and the application B for for detection method "The file f1 and…

                                        • Execute Program with least privilege

Please incorporate the option to execute a Program without elevation (least amount of privileges).

                                          Background:
We sometimes receive requests to automate some process via Configuration Manager. This is frequently done by creating a Package with a Program that executes a script.

                                          Use case:
When automating the OneDrive sync client (or various other commands / programs), a simple script works well.

                                          Problem:
When the same script is executed with elevation, it doesn't work as expected.
Configuration Manager elevates the session when the currently logged on user has admin privileges on the machine.
Some troubleshooting is required to find the root cause.…
