  1. maintenance window

When one or more maintenance windows are added or modified on a collection, the SCCM clients in that collection seems to flush all their existing maintenance windows. In the very same second the client sets the new maintenance windows - So it looks like when looking in ServiceWindowManager.log. For applications deployments this "flush" seems to be without problems, but if applications are deployed within a task sequence there is a good chance the deployment will start to roll immediately.

    • Resend WOL signal for missed deployments

Deploying an Application or SUP with a specific 'Deadline' time e.g. 12th februari and 'Purpose: Required' with 'Send wake-up packets' option within a defined Maintenance Windows e.g. 10PM-5AM (total 7 hours) would mean that when our support team deploy a new machine (OSD Deployment) the next day (13th), software would not get installed because during 'Schedule re-valuation for deployments' or 'Software update scan schedule' does not occur no WOL-signal is (re)send for this deployment!

So offer ways to make sending WOL signal reoccurring.

      • Suggested update to Deployment Wizard

As was indicated in the post to allow required application deployments to be uninstalled, it is often desirable to make a deployment required in order to eliminate the need for user intervention without wishing that deployment to be enforced. The current model interferes with management processes (particularly SAM) by not allowing software deployed as required to be removed, which creates a scenario where someone has to compromise their goals and can be a problem between teams in an organization.

The suggestion is to update the deployment wizard to allow for radio buttons of Attended (formerly Available), Unattended (formerly Required), and…

        • Possibility to add a "Repair program" to an Applications Deployment Type

When you troubleshoot issues with application which have been deployed by ConfigMgr, you often want to repair that application. For example by setup.exe /repair in case of Office, or using the msiexec repair options. If you could add a repair program, the end user can repair their applications with the Software Center, rather than just uninstall and install it again.

          • Autodeploy / Predeploy Available deployment to Primary Device

Having the benefits of Predeploy with an Available deployment (as opposed to required) would be very useful. Having to use a Required deployment just for the purposes of leveraging the Predeploy functionality creates other unwanted behavior. Perhaps this could be a new feature and not necessarily adapting the existing 'Predeploy' feature.

Where I see this functionality being extremely useful is having the ability to deploy an application to a user and having it auto installed (first time / one time only) on their primary device. Being able to do this before the user logs on would also be great.

            This…

            • Share package with correct access accounts and a way to make the share of each distribution point accessible from a DFS path.

Sometimes, we need to make Tools or offline binaries available for the end users or their applications : updates path specified with GPO, Operational Tools for IT, backup executables to be available fast in case of issue (no time to make a new package)....
We used distribution point for that with package and its features :
              - Manage Access Accounts
              - Share name into "Data Access" tab of package properties.
However, that's only create the folder with the good access and the share have default access that doesn't fit what you need.
So, first, we would like share with the…

              • Office Click-to-run should be able to stream installation from Distribution Point

When deploying Office 365 via SCCM, the client downloads the entire package to its local drive, then streams the installation from the downloaded source. In our organisation we have one master source including all languages (~8GB) and the client streams only the languages it requires (as specified in the configuration.xml), SCCM should allow the clients to stream the installation directly from the Distribution Points and therefore only download the languages they need, not the entire 8GB source.

                • AppDiscovery Evaluation Bug

As of 1709, App discovery appears to be running based on priority, not dependency order. This is a change in behavior from previous releases and can cause an issue when the detection method is based on the dependency being installed.

                  • Deployment Start Time Display Confusion

                    This is repeatable:

                    - Deploy an application as "Required" with a scheduled start time of X (defaulted to UTC).

                    - Go back into the deployment and switch the start time to Y (switching to Client Local Time).

                    - Properties now reflect start time "Y", yet the deployment still shows the original time X.

                    See attached screenshot.

                    • Forced Installation deadline based on when the Machine Receives the an Application, Software Update, etc.

It would be great to have an additional option under the Installation Deadline deployment property to forced an installation based on when the machine received the deployment policy.

For example, you could set the deployment to force the installation of an application after 1 week of the machine receiving the policy. This would allow a users 1 week to install an application or software update from when their machine received the policy rather than setting a hard date, which after the initial deployment would be in the past. This is especially important if the installation requires a reboot.

                      This would…

                      • Applications Modification: Bug?

When trying to update or modify an existing application or its Deployment Type you cannot make any changes to the either one. This seems to be a bug from what I am seeing with 1710. I did find a possible workaround by deleting the current deployment before making any changes to the application. Then after you've made all the changes you can re-deploy the application to your device collection. I get the attached error message when trying to make changes before deleting the device collection deployment.

                        • add direct membership if app installed during TaskSequence (App Properties-General Information - Allow this application to be installed fro)

Add property into Application next to checkbox -> 'Allow this application to be installed from task sequence action without being deplyed.'

The new property can contain 'Collection name' to which will be made direct membership at the end of Task Sequence if the Appplication is successfuly installed during Task Sequence.

                          • Allow Package Properties and Package monitoring nodes to open in same pane

Allow Package Properties and Package monitoring nodes to open in same pane. Going between Monitoring and back to Packages and/or Application for Source location to view Content Status vs. the Content is somewhat unproductive. When I go to a package, and View Status, it takes me away from my package.

                            • Enable ‘Copy the content in this package to a package share on distribution points’ for the Application model

Using HTTP sources is currently broken for Windows (See MS case REG:117102316533973 - When an application requires a feature/needs to self heal Windows installer brings up the

The best solution would be a new distribution point feature that makes virtual package shares for each application not requiring extra space on the server. Otherwise enabling the same tickbox that is used for packages could be a quick win.

                              • Expand options for detecting file version

Some applications do not use the 'version' field the way that SCCM seems to expect. SCCM seems to expect a 0.0.0 format, but many projects use commas to separate the major, minor, build versions or even just have a version string that includes words, like PuTTY. When selecting a file to view the properties and use the version provided in the file properties, SCCM should just look for the exact string provided from the example file instead of expecting application developers to provide sane version identifiers.

I created a UV item for one component of this and supported others that involve some of these items but I think it makes sense to have one that encapsulates all items.

                                  1. Be able to specify the number of Primary Devices that can be associated with users. Being allowed to have more than one device associated with a user makes the deployment of licensed apps more precarious.

                                  2. Allow e-mails for Approval Requests and allow the flexibility for creating a workflow for multiple approvers.

                                  3. Be allowed to do Approvals for the User and the Device. I'd love to…

                                  • ADD a "Stop After Date/Time" on deployments scheduling tab

We have production deployments that need to stay in place until the pilot deployment becomes the new production application and the change window opens. It would be nice to be able to schedule the deployment to turn off like you can tell one to turn on at a certain time. Today we must delete the old deployments before the new one starts. Being able to schedule the stop deployment would better enable us to stage / coordinate deployments.

                                    • Support detection scripts larger than 32KB for applications

Can you increase the size for application script detection? There is currently a limit of 32KB for a PowerShell detection script. In a normal use-case a detection script would be 10 lines or less, but there are times when longer scripts can be necessary. My case in particular requires that I query device ID's on client computers. There can be thousands of unique device ID's that I may have to check, but this puts my script above the size limitation.

                                      • WebPI Updates from System Center Configuration Manager

                                        Hi Microsoft,

We would benefit if WebPI modules (ARR versions/PHP versions) could be managed via SCCM natively.

                                        • Create Application Wizard and Web Applications

Can we have the option to add shortcut icons which are relevant to the Web Application that is being installed. We have various Web Applications which we want to differentiate by icon for our users - at the moment they all see the standard blue IE icon for all of them. We can script this, however it would be less time consuming having it built into the Wizard. This function is exists for Software Centre so hopefully it would be easy to implement.
