  1. Support center online documentation

It would be great to have an up to date documentation
Currently, it is pointing to ConfigMgr 2012.
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/system-center/system-center-2012-R2/dn688621(v=technet.10)
The tool is available with CB 1810.

  2. Clarify relationship between SC and SCCM

List of discrepancies treating CM "Configuration Manager" different from DPM, SCOM, SCORCH, SCSM:
    - The SC Roadmap makes no mention of CM. http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/9/6/59602436-C9C5-48A1-B305-827654B9077B/SystemCenterRoadmapENUS.pdf
    - All the SC components except for CM appear to be on the same SAC (Semi-Annual Channel) software release train schedule with two releases (1801 and 1807) to date. https://cloudblogs.microsoft.com/windowsserver/2018/07/24/system-center-1807-available-now/
    - The Microsoft Docs URL for CM does not include "system-center", whereas the other SC offerings do. e.g. https://docs.microsoft.com/system-center/scom/ vs https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm

I’ve been waiting a while to post this status…. Configuration Manager is now part of Microsoft Endpoint Manager along with Intune. For more information, see https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/blog/2019/11/04/use-the-power-of-cloud-intelligence-to-simplify-and-accelerate-it-and-the-move-to-a-modern-workplace/

Microsoft Endpoint Manager features and experiences will appear in the product over the coming months.

  3. Standalone Primary Mutliple SUPs Documentation update

Standalone Primary with Multiple SUPs - Documentation update

There is limited documentation on how to install and configure multiple SUPs in a Standalone Primary Site. It is advised to have all SUPs share the SUP DB when you have multiple SUPs in a Primary Site to reduce impact if a client changes SUP. However one of the SUPs will synch with MS Update while the others will synch with the one selected to synch to MS Update. Because of this the SUP configuration has to be the same for all SUPs and any SUP/WSUS maintenance needs to be carried outā€¦

Cmdlet documentation has just been updated for 1702 at: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/sccm/configurationmanager/

SDK documentation was updated a few months ago at: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/develop/core/misc/system-center-configuration-manager-sdk

In addition, we just published full documentation on the client messaging SDK here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt744369.aspx

If there’s any aspects of the SDK or cmdlets that aren’t covered by the above, please do file specific feedback items for what you would like to see.

    Thanks!

  8. Maintain an accurate and list of Site versions and associated Client versions

With CM Current Branch implementations, customers will have more questions than ever about whether their clients are being upgraded to the proper version. There are ways to get at this data in the CM console, but sometimes there are gaps (hotfixes come to mind) and it would be great to have an authoritative resource to point customers to. This site (https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/configmgrdogs/2014/02/07/configmgr-2012-version-numbers/) is great but it seems to be maintained by a field engineer. I think it would be more practical to make this data available on Technet or docs.microsoft.com. Also if it could have site version, build, andā€¦

Marking this complete as we have this article: https://docs.microsoft.com/sccm/core/servers/manage/updates. As Chad noted, the community can contribute to this article to suggest changes. For more information on how to contribute, see https://docs.microsoft.com/contribute. If you’d like to see a whole new reference article, please file a GitHub Issue: https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/sccmdocs/issues.

  10. Client Cache documentation appears incorrect

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/clients/manage/manage-clients#BKMK_ClientCache

The documentation here states that the Client Cache can be deleted using the Remove-Item PowerShell cmdlet, and implies the files can just be deleted without issue. Won't this orphan the cache elements in WMI?

  11. What happened to the SCCM Blog

Is everything ok with JC Hornbeck? There hasn't been a blog posting in over a month at "Server & Tools Blogs > Server & Management Blogs > System Center: Configuration Manager"

Those were incredibly useful and I checked them daily.

  12. Documentation about the CCMLOGLEVEL parameter seems to be incorrect

The documentation about the CCMLOGLEVEL parameter seems to be incorrect. Where is value 3 documented?
In the SDK there is only the following:
    0 Verbose logging
    1 Normal logging
    2 No logging

  13. Enhance documentation of Alternate Content Provider (ICcmAlternatedownloadProvider)

The Alternate Content Provider is poorly documented. It would be nice if an example could be developed and posted. At minimum, it would be great if you could complete the documentation for the interface ICcmAlternatedownloadProvider and the call back. The call back is not documented at all. It simply says to call method SendNotifyErrorToCTM. Where is that?!

  14. ESAE

    Hello,

I need some information how we can use ESAE and SCCM Current Branch. I was not able to find any doc in the internet.
Is there anyone who worked earlier with a customer who implemented ESAE and they had also SCCM in their environment?
I need some knowledge share or a documentation.
    How is SCCM affected?
Where I need changes in SCCM? And so onā€¦

I am very thankful for every info I can get.

    regards
    Ismail

  15. Is this the only place to get SCCM hotfix info now that Premier has dropped hotfix support?

Premier used to be a central site where one could look up issues and find related hotfixes for SCCM and other Microsoft technologies. Premier has dropped hotfix support. How does one zero in on SCCM-related hotfixes? It doesn't appear that Cloud servicing would have them all. One can't just "Bing" these things as the results are unstructured and IMHO worthless.

    Thank you,
    Russell

  16. SCCM Domain Functional Level prereq check

Both SCCM v1610 and the new v1611 include a domain functional level check that is referring to a minimum level of Windows Server 2003. Is this a change to the prereqs, an error in the documentation which states 2008 as the minimum level, or just an error in the new versions? This is quite a hot topic as the DFL has prevented many customers from moving to SCCM CB.

  17. Automatic notification when the Docs are updated

Trying to keep track of which topics in the Documentation Library have been changed and when is a nightmare.

Provide a notification mechanism such as a RSS feed for updates to the Documentation Library as they occur.

In an ideal world it would be great to be told WHAT the changes were (be good if there was a way of easily snapshotting the article before and after the changes with the changes highlighted), but not sure how easy that is.

There are a few ways to accomplish this. For about the next week or so you can use the ā€œFollowā€ link at the bottom in the comments section. This functionality goes away shortly when we switch over to GitHub Issues.
As already stated, you can watch the GitHub repository, although this will provide notification of EVERYTHING that happens, which might get a bit noisy.
The recommendation from the core docs team is to use the built-in search, and then the RSS link there. For example, if you want to monitor the Log files article (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/plan-design/hierarchy/log-files), search for the full page title that shows in the browser tab and in the search results (which may be different than what shows at the top of the article). For example, https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/search/index?search=%22Log+files+for+troubleshooting+-+Configuration+Manager%22&scope=ConfigMgr. Note this is scoped to ConfigMgr and the title is in quotation marks. There should be only one result.ā€¦

  18. Role-Based Administration - Document what permissions control... or at least start!

The Role-Based Administration documentation does not describe what the individual permissions actually control, and they are not self explanatory. For example, under Collection, you see several different 'modify' permissions and it isn't clear what they each control:

    -Modify
    -Modify Client Status Alert
    -Modify Collection Setting
    -Modify Folder
    -Modify Resource

Please provide even a basic amount of information about what they control in the console. This will help prevent us silly sysadmins from just giving people tons of permissions so we don't have to reverse engineer what each of the settings does in order to let people do just what theyā€¦

  19. Add thorough documentation for Client Settings and what registry keys/WMI values are set by them on client devices

I would love to have it officially documented exactly what each option in Client Settings is modifying when processed by the client. I know some of them are in the registry, some of them are in WMI but I haven't seen any documentation for this.

  20. Doc Bug: Is it one or both Audit settings needed?

For getting the System Console Usage, Top Console User, and UDA stuff to work, you need to enable some security event log audits.

This page says you need only 1 Audit setting:

    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt488912.aspx#BKMK_EnableSuccessLogonEvents

These pages say you need both of the Audit settings:

    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt629338.aspx
