Application installation inside Task-Sequence
It would be nice to install the Applications assigned to device and to Primary user inside the Task-Sequence.
Criteria could be followed:
- Install Deployment (not available)
- not retired
- last Version / Revision of Application / DeploymentTypeMaybe, some more criteria are possible or required :-)
Benefit:
If the Task-Sequence finished, Client is ready to use without waiting of install applications aso.1 vote -
Windows 10 Start Menu Designer for SCCM
This is more of a config management item. Each release of Win 10 comes with different ways to create and deploy start menus it seems. This is very frustrating and time consuming. It would be awesome if we could have a drag and drop menu emulator and editor to be used in designing, testing, and deploying start menus built into the SCCM console. Integration with apps and packages would be optimal. A desktop layout designer would also go well with this. Give us the ability to manage shortcuts and whatnot in a more intuitive manner that doesn't require piecemeal GPO…

Integrate SCCM OSD task sequence domain-join process with CyberArk secure password management.
Integrate SCCM OSD task sequence domain-join process with CyberArk secure password management. The task to use the domain-join process does not have the capability of going to the CyberArk API and retrieving an encrypted password (dynamic) during each OSD deployment.

Option to prevent user sign on during task sequence upgrade after a system restart
Due to us upgrading Office and Windows 10 versions we have noticed that a number of users are logging in and breaking the Office upgrades it would be appreciated if SCCM had an option to not allow the user the ability to sign back into the device until the task sequence has finished running.
An example of this is when the task sequence runs in WINPE mode.

Prevent devices with Modern Standby from going to sleep
Until 20H1 this was able to be done by setting the CsEnabled registry key to 0 during the build, this key is no longer present in windows. We need a way to prevent devices with Modern Standby from going to sleep during the build.

Deploy OSD Task Sequences to User Collections
This was reported in UV https://configurationmanager.uservoice.com/forums/300492-ideas/suggestions/8422794-osd-deploy-ts-to-user-groups?tracking_code=ac5f2659e8181c3495b2ad929ac07082 and was marked completed, except that it only supported non-OSD task sequences.

A where used tab for Operating Systems
Can we have a where used tab in Operating System images and upgrades?
1 voteUpdating status to noted – see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/core/understand/find-help#send-a-suggestion for an explanation of each value.
Certainly something we’ll consider.
I’m sure you know this already but just in case, if you select Delete the confirmation dialog will show you a list of each task sequence using the OS Image or Upgrade Packge

Task sequence Powershell Step - Add Package reference similar to Run Command Line Step
Hi
Please could you add the package reference in the "Run Powershell Script" Step in Task sequence. The option to select a packaged Script is possible, but when running an "entered" script and referencing a package is not there. This is possible in the "run Command line" entry.

Enable BranchCache on Task Sequence - Download On Demand Content
For a Task Sequence, any content you have referenced and as long as you have "Download All Content Before Starting" set on the Deployment, it will download the Content into the CCMCache using BranchCache. However, we don't want to "Download all Content before Starting" in several situations, and in those cases, The Task Sequence doesn't leverage BranchCache at all for the download, which is VERY Bad.
Please enable the ability for a Task Sequence to leverage BranchCache during an active Task Sequence when it downloads content during the Task Sequence.

Increased size of WinPE Scratch Space
With the ability to add powershell to your boot wim (adds 100mb), + drivers for your machines and a couple of tools the 512MB is not sufficient especially if say you want to update the bios as part of a bare metal build. I.e. Dell tool + bios update program + bios file - you cannot reboot the machine back to the wim because there is not enough RamDisk space to hold it all. 512MB is tiny in todays terms, please can we have a much larger upper limit.

SWM support for Operating System Images and Upgrade Packages
To improve download content experience for computers with very low network bandwith. It's only managed with standalone media.

Add ability to resize the new "Enter a PowerShell script" window
It would've been nice to have the ability to resize the new "Enter a PowerShell script" window to chech that everything looks good. The default windows is quite narrow. Maybe add som nice colour formatting to get a better overview.

We are working on improvements around the console for this scenario. You should see some of these in recent technical previews. We have also further improvements for improving the scripting experience planned for future releases.

OSD - Create Variable to control creation of DisableCMDRequest.TAG in Setup Windows & ConfigMgr Step
During OSD, specifically the Setup Windows & Configuration Manager Step, the step creates the file DisableCMDRequest.TAG right before rebooting from WinPE into the Full OS
This disables the F10 prompt during the Windows Setup.
Could you allow us to change this behavior via TS variable?
Example: SMTSTDisableCMDRequest = False[Bonus] Then also automatically set the it to false if TSDebugMode = True
This would be helpful for troubleshooting Windows Errors during Setup before the TS kicks back in after setup. (SetupComplete.cmd runs)
19 votesThanks for your suggestion. Updating status to noted – see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/core/understand/find-help#send-a-suggestion for an explanation of each value.
Can you elaborate with some examples of why this would be needed?
We already have the task sequence debugger and comprehensive logging. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/osd/deploy-use/debug-task-sequence
Also, Windows developed SetupDiag which can be run from the task sequence or used on setup.exe completion https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/upgrade/setupdiag

OSD on WinPE boot failures should not force WinPE to simply reboot without displaying some error information.
Often times, when WinPE boots and there is an error before OSD completely loads, WinPE simply reboots without showing any errors and does not give you the opportunity to gather log files via console. While this issue is typically a driver or time issue, it's impossible to know for sure without looking at the logs. This forces the techs to submit tickets and for the SysAdmins to guess as to the cause of the issue.

"IsVirtual" builtin task sequence variable
We need a builtin task sequence variable indicating computer is virtual or not (like TS builtin variable _SMSTSBootUEFI)

Upgrade "supported" ISO to work with SCCM
The current ISO for Windows 10 2016 LTSB (build 14393.0) does not identify any OS upgrades from SCCM. An investigation determined that the windows upgrade engine was "too old" to talk to current SCCM infrastructure and you have to manually upgrade the newly deployed operating system so that it can be patched. We don't see that as MS supporting the operating system.

Mouse Support during OSD after WinPE stage
During OSD in Windows 10, the Mouse gets suppressed and you can't see it after the "Setup Windows & ConfigMgr Step" until the end of the TS. Many of us have cheated by adding a registry value in the offline OS
https://garytown.com/enable-mouse-support-in-win10-osd-during-state-restore
MS has even blogged about it:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/mem/configmgr/no-mouse-cursor-during-osd-task-sequenceMy Request is... Build this into the Setup Windows & ConfigMgr step.
In that step, you're already mounting the offline registry, just add that value while you're in there. Perhaps make it controlled via a checkbox on the step or variable.I see on your page you recommend undoing the change…

Task sequence >>Run PowerShell Script<< fails firing events
A Task sequence >>Run PowerShell Script<< step is executed as a >>-Command<< Apparently this leads to reduced functionality, events registered with (Register-ObjectEvent) does not fire. Suggest possibility to choose Run as file, using the PS -File switch + argument.

Switch boot image during OSD
Ok, so we got the alternative to run a TS from within another TS. Each step of a TS and even the run TS-step give you the option of supplying a condition which opens up the possibility of a modular OSD (with similarities of the App model).
But what if you need to makes changes to a boot image and want to test those before putting it in production?
Since one (main) TS=one boot image you need to make a copy of the TS and test the boot image separately.
If everything seems fine you switch the boot image of…
