  1. Add support to Cloud Distribution Point for dynamically defined content

    Add the support for dynamically defined content in an OSD task sequence to Cloud Distribution point. Today in an on-prem environment you can use OSDDownloadContent.exe to pre-cache or download driver packages, BIOS packages and other items that are machine specific.

    However this functionality is not available on Cloud Gateway/Cloud DP. The sequence will execute but support for Dynamic Variables Task Sequences so we can modify the packageID in sequence and then then trigger the OSDDownloadDownloadPackages command to download that content while the sequence is running is not.

  2. Prevent the SCCM client from using hyper-v IP addresses

    If you install Hyper-V on Windows 10, it will create a default adapter and randomly create an IP address, usually in the 172.x.x.x subnet. If by chance, you have a boundary that this random IP address falls into, the SCCM client will think it is part of this boundary, in addition to the boundary associated with it's physical NIC. The client considers both boundaries to be a Current boundary group and will therefore potentially download content from DP's associated within either boundary. In most situations, this additional DP will likely be across a WAN link which of course can causeā€¦

  3. ConfigurationManager PowerShell module should register itself as an Env Variable

    Today, when you install the CM Console, the PowerShell module will be placed under the %CMInstallDirectory%\AdminConsole\Bin\ConfigurationManager.psd1

    This makes sense given where the user is choosing to install the console, and that's fine. But placing it here off the beaten path means that it is not importable using PowerShell's module autodiscovery features. For instance, if a module is found in any of the standard user or system paths (or registered under the $ENV:PsModulePath) the user can easily import the module without having to specify the full path, a big user quality of life win. This is the way that SQL Serverā€¦

  4. Allow entering XML data within task sequence apply OS step

    Allow you to be able to paste in an unattend.xml file directly into the Apply Operating System Image task sequence step instead of having to use a package. Similar to how you can add a PowerShell script directly in to the task sequence step in SCCM 1902.

  5. Exclude certain operating systems from discovery

    It would be great if we could exclude certain OS's from discovery. I have over 5500 machines in my DB that I couldn't care less about but they reside in an OU where I have machines I do care about.

  7. Improve Content Replication

    Content Replication from Site to DPs should be a frustration free Process or SCCM Admins. Unfortunately, I know no customer without smaller or bigger issues in this area.
    Here is an uncomplete list of some issues IĀ“ve noticed:
    ā€¢ Content Eval - Scheduled Task lost
    o SCCM does not check if the schedule task got lost/deleted
    o Suggested Solution: SCCM should verify the Scheduled Task on Service Startup

  8. Port De-duplication technology of Distribution Point to Client

    While at the distribution point a hashed file method is used to keep different applications using the same file, the really need fro this, in my opinion, should be the client computers, we have faced a really annoying case where to install 4 different applications (visio, visio pro, project, and Office suite) the same group of files are used , Office 365 installer, so it cam be 2.5GB four times if all the apps have to be installed at the device. this has a severe penalty at the storage and the network at the user device

  9. Do something with Operating System tab

    When deploying a custom task sequence that only contains applications and no operating system it confuses our users.

    Suggest to rename Operating System tab with something else like Package Bundles. Or (after you add icon support for task sequences) have custom task sequences in the Applications tab instead of Operating Systems.

    Updating status to noted. See https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/configmgr/core/understand/find-help#send-a-suggestion for an explnation of each value.

    Our 2002 release is now in the opt-in phase. We have added a task sequence deployment type which allow icon customization.

    You can opt-in and then download 2002 through their Admin Console now.
    Blog: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/configuration-manager-blog/update-2002-for-microsoft-endpoint-configuration-manager-current/ba-p/1272670
    Docs: https://docs.microsoft.com/configmgr/core/plan-design/changes/whats-new-in-version-2002
    Support Information: https://aka.ms/cmcssreleaseinfo

    Custom task sequences will always appear in the applications tab unless the steps indicate that it is an OS Deployment task sequence e.g. has a boot image reference and restart to WinPE step or a Upgrade OS step.

    Try out task sequence as deployment type and let us know your feedback and if your ask is addressed with that new feature.

  10. AD computer object description

    Setting the AD computer object description should be allowed inside a task sequence during the domain join operation.
    Whether or not this is on the dialog box, is not important to me. I'd be happy setting a TS variable (ie. OSDComputerObjectDescription)

    Alternatively, we could use a PowerShell script using different credentials (which Task Sequences also do not allow). Similar to the way
    the "Run Command Line" allows the input of credentials.

    Right now we have to use a kludgy "Run Command Line" using credentials and run
    a batch file that calls something like: PowerShell.exe -executionpolicy Bypass -command pscommandhere
    or: PowerShell.exeā€¦

  11. Windows 10 ADK Timeline parity with SCCM Build Releases to Support 30 Month Fall Release Support Cycle

    It would appear at a high level that adjustments were not made to coordinate support timelines across the architecture of components for SCCM, Example, while extending Windows 10 1709 Ent. support to 30 months, I would expect the ADK to be supported with the Configuration Manager release 1810, (1903, 1909, etc.) to maintain parity with bug fixes.

    Thanks for your feedback.

    For ADK support we always support N-1 i.e. current and previous version. This is the matrix we use for testing each release and forms this statement – https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/configmgr/core/plan-design/configs/support-for-windows-10#windows-10-adk

    Each ADK can be used to deploy current and earlier versions of Windows 10. Between releases (either SCCM or ADK) there’s no fundamental change with how we interface.

    Can you elaborate some more on what your request is here, please?

    Thanks and regards

  12. Upgrade Operating System Built-in Step: Add Option to Keep Files Only

    Customer does not have the store installed and using the built-in TS step keeps files and apps. I know that the "OSDSetupAdditionalUpgradeOptions" variable can be used, but it would be nice to have the option on the built-in TS step.

    Thanks for responding.

    We cannot provide a different migration options for the reasons I outlined below. Anything other than ‘Applications, Data and Settings’ will leave the machine unmanaged – while we developed the new upgrade step we tested them all.

    I’ll see if I can source steps for reinstalling the Store without having to complete a restore.

  13. ccmsetup <specific/latest> client

    Create a new Parameter for the ccmsetup to use the latest Client Version. Currently there is no Opportunity to install the newest Client Version by Script. So in Cases of Troubleshooting the Client will be installed/updated two times within an short period.

  14. Multi Tenant support for Microsoft cloud services integrated with ConfigMgr

    We hear this request a lot, so I'm adding it here.
    ConfigMgr integrates with many Microsoft Cloud Services:
    * WUFB
    * WSFB
    * Windows Upgrade Analytics
    * OMS
    * etc
    For each of the above services, sometimes a company may have multiple tenants. Please allow ConfigMgr to manage multiple tenants for each of these services.

  15. Temporarily suspend any SCCM client activity

    Many of our users (300000) need a feature to temporarily suspend any SCCM activity at least for a limited time per day.
    Activities that need to be suspended are:
    - Downloads
    - Installs
    - Reboots

    Business cases:
    Customers Skype sessions often get disturbed while a download is running in the background. We thought the setting "Suspend Software Center activities when in PowerPoint presentation mode" would help but from what our user reports it doesn't.

    Another scenario are users working on metered connections, e.g. as they are provided by Deutsche Bahn. Users working on such a connection quickly use up theirā€¦

  16. Boot Image Azure Powershell

    Include option to inject Azure Powershell Cmdlets (including Azure Automation) into Boot Images. As many organizations are moving to the cloud, including the ability to login and run tasks in Azure is a must.

    Thanks for your feedback. Updating status to noted.

    This item is very similar to "Add “AD Powershell Module” as Optional Component for boot images"

    We had to decline that as we cannot ship or take a dependency on the AD module. Similarly we won’t be able to take a dependency on Azure PSH module – we can only add what’s in the ADK.

    Your ask covers a bit more ground with the ability to run tasks in Azure so I’ll leave as noted for now.

    Updating status to noted.

    Thanks for your feedback. We have added a Task Sequence deployment type which should address your ask.

    The opt-in phase of our 2002 release (fast ring) is now live and contains the changes for task sequence as a deployment type.

    You can opt-in and then download 2002 through their Admin Console now.

  18. Apply Boundary Groups to WinPE Management Point selection

    Currently it appears that when the SCCM agent in the WinPE boot image connects to a Management Point, it selects one without using the Boundary Group rules, instead selecting one from the AD published list, starting with the first alphabetically.
    Instead this should behave like the full blown Windows SCCM Client and select a Management Point based on Boundary Groups such as IP range.
    It is worth noting that Distribution Points are selected correctly according to Boundary Group by the WinPE client, for OSD content.

  19. hashdir.exe for SCCM CB SHA256

    The old version of HASHDIR.exe tool doesn't work with new version of SCCM. This could be because of SHA256 hashing of SCCM CB.
    Is there any possibility to release a new version HASHDIR.exe tool for SHA256 hashed content. This would be really useful whenever SCCM admins want to perform has miss match troubleshooting ...
