  1. Allow New-CMTaskSequenceMedia cmdlet to add empty variables

When creating Task Sequence Media with the Admin Console, you have the ability to create empty variables. However, when you attempt to do the same thing with the New-CMTaskSequenceMedia PowerShell cmdlet, you get this error:

New-CMTaskSequenceMedia : The variable value should not be empty.

    Sample code:

    $TSVariable = @{ 'OSDComputerName' = '' }
New-CMTaskSequenceMedia -StandaloneMedia -TaskSequenceDistributionPoint $TSDistributionPoints -MediaPath "$TSMediaPath\$($TaskSequence.Name).iso" -MediaInputType CdDvd -MediaSize SizeUnlimited -TaskSequence $TaskSequence -Variable $TSVariable

  2. Provide the ability to separate retire, wipe and delete resource permissions for different security roles

At the moment, a person requires the delete resource right to wipe/retire a device. Some organisations would prefer to separate the ability to delete, wipe and retire devices.

  3. Give Intune user an option to select if the device is company owned or personal

When devices are enrolled to Intune in a Configuration manager integrated environment, devices are assigned as "Personal" by default. Admin can change this settings in SCCM Console, but this involves additional manual work. Instead user can be given an option to select who owns the device.

There’s a lot of great discussion in the comments, but in the interest of ensuring we have actionable ideas in UserVoice here I’m closing this issue.

Just a few thoughts for consideration:

The WMI Diag tool is no longer supported by Windows and we don’t recommend using it to fix WMI repository issues. We also don’t recommend rebuilding the WMI repository as this can cause other issues. There is a detailed blog post that has more details about this: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/configuration-manager-archive/wmi-troubleshooting-tips/ba-p/272750.

There is a concern about the reports here of WMI-based issues that require some kind of manual intervention to fix. These are things that would require further investigation to better understand and work toward some sort of solution.

If you’re seeing this regularly in your environment I would strongly encourage opening a case with Support to collect more information about the underlying issue.

  5. Importing OSD INF drivers directly to console subfolders

Integrating a new operating system in Configuration Manager OSD could require to import hundreds of INF drivers for larger companies if you use dedicated driver packages for each type of supported computer.
This could be really annoying as you are forced to first import every driver to the "Drivers" top level folder and then have to move them to their corresponding subfolders.
With Configuration Manager 2007 it was possible to import the drivers directly into the subfolder structure.
Please bring back that valuable functionality!

Thanks for the feedback, updating to declined and returning votes.

Import to sub-folders is not supported for Drivers unfortunately, due to architectural changes between the 2007 releases and 2012. We have all the feedback noted. For management using Driver Categories can help with driver management within console.

We do have other items for improving driver management for OSD and the feedback for importing re: speed, managing with folders et al. is noted.

  8. SCCM client scheduled restart can be canceled by user using shutdown /a

Normal user is able to cancel scheduled restart of Windows OS defined by SCCM client policy.
SCCM client should invoke restart of target machine at the specific time - do not schedule it earlier. Currently restart can be cancelled by normal user (without elevated permissions) using: shutdown /a
and thus prevents planned patching process

Shutdown orchestration is controlled by Windows and by default the policy on Client operating system SKUs is to allow the “Users” group control over shutdown actions. This behavior can be modified through group policy as appropriate for your environment.

For more details, please see: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/threat-protection/security-policy-settings/shut-down-the-system.

  10. Orchestrator Powershell V4

Since SCORCH isnt that public its very hard to find a good solution. So we have only Powershell v2 for Orchestrator and that makes it hard for a none scripter to find easy solutions. All around work with v4.

Our first step with SCORCH: deactivate 100day unused PCs and move them to a folder and delete them after 1 month after movement.
    HORRIBLE!
With user accounts its even more complicated.

  11. Intune Hybrid User Affinity w/ 2FA and Apple DEP

Right now there is no way to assign user affinity to a device procured through Apple DEP with Microsoft MFA enabled.

There is a workaround on the Intune standalone where it pushes the company portal app then the user signs in, but on the Hybrid side we cannot accomplish this and must resort to No Device Affinity profiles.

Having the option of "Optional User Affinity" would work as we could just skip past the Apple Configuration piece that doesn't work with MFA but accomplish the same thing by signing into the Company Portal after the fact (which doesn't work whenā€¦

  12. SCCM Database ERD

You should provide an entity relationship diagram (ERD) of the SCCM database. I realize all over your website you give the usual feedback about the views being sufficient for reporting, and that we should use the console, etc. However, this is complete nonsense in the age of big data. Database analysts like myself need to harvest data for custom use beyond typical reporting and console options. Not having an ERD means reverse engineering the database. This becomes very time consuming as we must attempt to figure it out for ourselves, then perform data validation to make sure we figured itā€¦

With the exception of documented views, via the SMS Provider, or through the Data Warehouse feature, the database is not an extensibility point for the product.

The database itself is meant to be a black box and we don’t support any changes made to it outside of the product itself. Underlying tables, stored procedures, triggers, and functions can and do change from release to release.

With that said, I’d like to flip this request around. What scenarios are you trying to accomplish today that you cannot do with existing and documented functionality? We could look into ways to better enable these through supported channels.

  13. Autopilot Configuration in SCCM Hybrid Intune Scenario

Make Autopilot configurable for SCCM Hybrid Intune Scenario. Currently Autopilot is only configurable in Intune Standalone.

  14. Add credential parameter for all PowerShell module cmdlets

Add credential parameter for PowerShell module cmdlets to allow cmdlets to be run from alternate credentials, such as a service account. This would be very useful for passing a credential asset to a runbook in Azure Automation.

  15. Windows Explorer and Notepad improvements.

I would like to suggest Microsoft the following improvement initiatives regarding the Windows platform:

    1. In Windows Explorer: I suggest updating the "date modified" information of a folder based on the last change performed on its files. For example, if a file is overwritten, deleted, copied-into, or updated, the "date modified" information of that folder should reflect that change.

    2. In Windows Explorer: When copying files from the local hard drive to a removable storage device (e.g. USB memory), the files are not copied with the correct "date modified" information. This happens during summer time for files modified during winter time. Theā€¦

  16. IsSupervised field needs to be set when device is enrolled after a wipe/reset

This is a bug that needs fixing.

Using ConfigMgr 1710 in a hybrid configuration with Intune and devices synced from Apple's DEP after the initial enrollment if you wipe the device to enroll for a new user the IsSupervised field does not get set and the Activation Bypass options get greyed out.

Having a logged a call a workaround is possible by manually adding a record to the MDMDeviceProperty table but when you are managing 750+ devices with a high staff turnover manually adding this record every time really isn't practical.

The support team have told me to add thisā€¦

  17. Issue met for IOS Sandblast

    Hello Team

We use SCCM Current Branch with Hybrid INTUNE. Since the upgrade of SCCM CB to 1802, we met an issue for Sandblast Mobile Protect (from Checkpoint) on IOS mobile device.

I have performed two new test environments :

    • Intune STANDALONE + Checkpoint : All is OK

    • Intune Hybridate with SCCM Current Branch + Checkpoint : All Ok on Android, but not on IOS Mobile

When we try to "open" the baseline of this application, it raised an error on the console (Cf. ScreenshotConsoleError.JPG)

  20. Publish ConfigurationManager module to the PowerShell Gallery

It would be really great if you would start leveraging PowerShell Gallery as a place to publish latest versions of ConfigurationManager module (cmdlet library). Even though the module can't work without the Console, it would still be a lot more handy to rely PowerShell Gallery to make sure I'm running the latest version of cmdlet library.
