How can we improve Configuration Manager?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. Standalone Primary Mutliple SUPs Documentation update

Standalone Primary with Multiple SUPs - Documentation update

There is limited documentation on how to install and configure multiple SUPs in a Standalone Primary Site. It is advised to have all SUPs share the SUP DB when you have multiple SUPs in a Primary Site to reduce impact if a client changes SUP. However one of the SUPs will synch with MS Update while the others will synch with the one selected to synch to MS Update. Because of this the SUP configuration has to be the same for all SUPs and any SUP/WSUS maintenance needs to be carried out…

A revision is pending to this article: https://docs.microsoft.com/sccm/sum/plan-design/software-updates-best-practices for the 1806 release. So I’m marking this item as Started. Once those revisions are public, I’ll mark this as complete. Then if you still have feedback on revisions, please file Feedback directly on that article (or whichever article in our documentation library is most applicable).

    • Small SCCM Hardware VM Recommendations

I'd like primary site sizing recommendations for small to medium size environments. We have <500 client devices, your recommended specs are way too high.

      • Improved documentation / flowcharts for client activity

It would be nice to know the process or flow that occurs on the client side. This information is often times needed to explain the technology to management. There would likely need to be different flowcharts for each client function. The following is made up 100% and is not correct in any way and not in the correct format, but illustrates the idea.

Client wakes up -> Identification Information sent to Primary Site -> Client receives MP list -> Client receives DP list -> Client randomly chooses MP and requests machine policy -> policy is compared to what has been…

        • SDK Support for BoundaryGroupCache

Introduce broad support/documentation for BoundaryGroupCache values in Root\CCM\LocationServices to be read programatically and leveraged in Compliance Settings and other areas for Location based configurations. Example: configuration of BITS Throttling settings based on current Boundary Group. Setting up Collections / Custom Client Settings is not performance efficient.
