  1. Show more informative status information when installing from software center

When a user initiates a software deployment via software center, prior to the actual installation, the only status the client will see is "downloading". In scenarios where peer cache/branch cache is enabled, it says "downloading" even though the client is actually still locating a suitable distribution source.

This is very confusing for the client, as software center will say "downloading (0%)" for quite some time before it falls back to a dedicated distribution point. It gives both the client (and help desk staff who are unfamiliar with the sccm logs) the impression that there is either an issue with network…

  2. Prevent Countdown Timer from Moving off the edges of the Screen

We have set policy so that users receive the countdown timer with the HIDE button grayed out. This is to prevent users from clicking Hide, then forgetting about the timer and getting rebooted later in the day.

Users are now moving the countdown timer window off to the edge of the screen as a way around this. Then they forget about it. Get rebooted and open a ticket with the helpdesk. We have over 60K users, and this does generate a significant # of tickets.

Is it possible to prevent the window from moving off the edges of the screen?

  3. Display % complete for installation progress

Add installation progress % to the Software Center. Native Microsoft technologies should be able to report their installation progress such as MSI/MSP/C2R and update installations to give more details in the software center to know the completion status.

  4. Fix "New" SCCM software Center Portal to Perform User Appplication Eval in Realtime

When "User" targeted applications are made available for installation, the installation of that application may fail immediately with a message: "This software is not applicable to your Device". In some cases, this failed message maybe accurate due to the "Requirements" set within the application. However, if the conditions have recently changed on the local system to meet these requirements, the installation will keep failing until an "Application Evaluation" is ran on the system. Depending on your “scheduled re-evaluation for deployments” interval, it could take days or weeks for this evaluation to re-run.
The new SCCM software Center portal will not…

  5. Direct Rule or Query Rule based on user device affinity

I deploy apps through SCCM. To deploy a required app to a user that has user device affinity. This eliminates multiple installs when that user logs onto another device. I would like to be able to cerate a query rule or direct query for a collection based on a AD Group that allows me to select a user/computer and have that attached to user device affinity. Deploying applications to only those systems that the user is the primary user. This way users don't get unintended applications installed on lets say a conference room.

  6. Software Center: Include "Description" under Operating System menu

Include "description" under Operations Systems menu in Software Center instead of Publisher as mostly we deploy Windows OS from Microsoft.

  7. Software Center : Tooltip with the description of the application

Currently the message that appears when a cursor is positioned over an icon (tooltip), is the "application name" in Software Center
Instead of that, i would like to see in the tooltip the "application description".

Limit the number of times that a user is notified of available deployment. The used doesn't need to be notified at every login that they have the same software available but they want to see all other notifications.

  9. Consolidate Software Center and Software Catalog to Web only

Move the Online Software Catalog to the left column in Software Center. Having find additional software under Installed Status doesn't make any sense. I'd prefer just to have the Web only version of Software Center/Catalog

  10. Revise wording of overused alert "Software center can not be loaded".

The alert stating that SWC itself can not be loaded is displayed prominently over the SWC application running on-screen. Add either more details as to the actual reason for this dialog, like in other areas in the product, or separate messages to describe the fault less generally and with more suitable advice than "try later' as appropriate.

This is specifically not a bug in itself, but a shortcoming in the error trapping mechanism for multiple issues. Typical malfunction of the Provisioning Mode is just one possibility this and can be enumarated clearly in the context of MORE DETAILS. Cosmetically it…

  11. Application Catalog Customization

What I would like to see it the ability to customize the Application Catalog a bit more. Currently you can only put your company name and change the color. What I would like to be able to do is add our company logo to the catalog to match the way you can now do it with Software Center in Configuration Manager 1710.

  12. Do something with Operating System tab

When deploying a custom task sequence that only contains applications and no operating system it confuses our users.

Suggest to rename Operating System tab with something else like Package Bundles. Or (after you add icon support for task sequences) have custom task sequences in the Applications tab instead of Operating Systems.

  13. error code

When an application deployment fails from Software Center, it allows you to click "More Information". The information that is provided is just an error code, which is fine, but at least a generic description would be appreciated. I have to go and search for that code on a Microsoft page anyways, why not add it in for both myself and the end users from the start. Save some time for simple issues like, content is not available at your distribution point and such.

  15. Decide if software can be visible in Software Center by model of computer or collection

At our school district we deploy testing software. We want to be able to include collections and exclude collections to what they see visible in software center without modifying the collection or having to create another collection. We set a requirement in the application, but Users still see the software and try to install it.

  16. Company Portal Customization

I have a customer that, besides the new features in the Software Center, needs to use the Company Portal to all the +6000 users. The question here is the lack of customization. They want to be able to customize:

    1. The two pictures that appear in the Company Portal
    2. The color Schema for the tiles in the main page of company portal
    3. The Language of the App (that can be done changing the OS language).

They are making a great an d big investment in the new images to their users and are using a clean desktop with…

  19. New Software Center (1511) still status “Installed software” is given as “Less than 1 MB”

New Software center (1511) still the same bug than on previous version, where size of “Installed software” is given as “Less than 1 MB”, and only changes to real value when I click on the row.
Do MS any plan/idea how to fix the issue ?
    Thank you
    regards

  20. Provide more information on Packages on the API.

Provide more information on Packages on the API. Applications provide way more information. It would be nice to have that for Packages
