When deploying a custom task sequence that only contains applications and no operating system it confuses our users.
Suggest to rename Operating System tab with something else like Package Bundles. Or (after you add icon support for task sequences) have custom task sequences in the Applications tab instead of Operating Systems.1 vote
Updating status to noted. See https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/configmgr/core/understand/find-help#send-a-suggestion for an explnation of each value.
Our 2002 release is now in the opt-in phase. We have added a task sequence deployment type which allow icon customization.
You can opt-in and then download 2002 through their Admin Console now.

Custom task sequences will always appear in the applications tab unless the steps indicate that it is an OS Deployment task sequence e.g. has a boot image reference and restart to WinPE step or a Upgrade OS step.
Try out task sequence as deployment type and let us know your feedback and if your ask is addressed with that new feature.
New Software center (1511) still the same bug than on previous version, where size of “Installed software” is given as “Less than 1 MB”, and only changes to real value when I click on the row.
Do MS any plan/idea how to fix the issue ?
I would love the ability to put the Software Center icon on the desktop instead of burying it in the Start menu. That way my users have a quick and easy way to get to it. Maybe there's already a way to do it?1 voteNoted · AdminMark Silvey - ConfigMgr Product Team (Engineering Manager, ConfigMgr, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager) responded
Thanks for the feedback. In current branch, if you are creating a short cut to software center you should use the ‘softwarecenter:’ protocol instead of linking directly to the exe. This would be the preferred/supported way to ensure that your shortcut continued to work over time.
It could be nice to have a possibility to se e.g. in Softwarecenter when computer and user polices were updates last time.1 vote
It would be nice to have a ability to show custom messages to inform the user that a software installation is in progress and the computer must not be restarted or disconnect from the network.
Something similar to outlook notifications.
This should be specific for each package/application; and it should be available at least at begin/end of installation (or even in case of error)1 vote

I would like the start menu shortcut for software center on POSReady 2009 to work. We have POSReady 2009, which I believe is supported, and the start menu .lnk for the Software Center shortcut is not working due to "softwarecenter:" being the target in the shortcut. When you try to launch software center from the shortcut, we receive the following error: "Unable to open this Internet Shortcut. The protocol "softwarecenter" does not have a registered program." I don't believe there is a "softwarecenter" file type. :)1 vote
