  1. Available application which is not applicable must not show up in Software Center

[This is sort of an extension to https://configurationmanager.uservoice.com/forums/300492-ideas/suggestions/13002684-software-center-show-only-available-software-hid?]

Obviously, we can create applications with multiple deployment types in SCCM, each with its own set of requirements. Now say I create a simple MSI-based application with one deployment type, which has a requirement that Primary device must be true. If I make this available to a user collection, then it shows up for each of those users on their primary devices as available in Software Center. All great so far.

However, if one of those users logs in to a non-primary device, the application still shows up as available, andā€¦

  2. Change the way the new tag is used in software center

There is the great functionality of tagging "new" software in the software center and showing this software right at the top of all apps. Today this tag is dependent on the date the deployment has been created and or set to be available for 7 days as a global setting. It would be great to show this tag from a users perspective. This would also align to the often used concept of having a collection with the software deployed and the members get added on demand. So if a customer is ordering a software it is shown on his clientā€¦

  3. Pending Reboot Indicator in Software Center

It would be helpful, particularly for installing large batches of updates or multiple applications, if Software Center could indicate if Windows has a Pending Reboot. Perhaps an 'indicator light' or something like that in the top right corner. Many times I have been trying to install things via Software Center only to watch the items wait at 'Waiting to Install.' At least one reboot is needed to kick those waiting items into motion.

  4. New Software Center: Hide already installed packages (not only applications)

In the 1802 release, the option to hide already installed software was added but only for applications, not packages.
It'd be a good idea to hide already installed packages, in order to keep the software center easier to the end user understand what still need to be installed.
    Thanks in advance.

  5. Software Center: Set cutom filter as default start page

When starting the Software Center, being able to set Filter: "All" to a custom filter to reduce the amount of application visible for the user instead of having 50+ icons

  6. Disable toast notifications per depoyment

It would be of benefit to our organization to specify whether or not a deployment will display a toast notification stating that "New software is available". Reason is that we sometimes we are required to deploy a newer minor reversion that appears as a full application, but it may be an application the user already has installed. An example of that would be Google Chrome. The user will receive a popup notification that new software is available, but when they go into the Software Center nothing "new" to them will be displayed.

We have consider disabling all notifications in theā€¦

  7. Scan for new software in software center

We pin the software center to the Start Menu in Windows 10. We would like there to be a user friendly option, say a "Check for new software!" button that they can press that triggers the appropriate policy actions to run behind the scenes. It's cumbersome to have to go into the client and trigger the policy options manually.

I have even included a screenshot of how it should look!

  8. Allow the Deployment of a Task Sequence to have a "Available" date and a "Deadline Date" .

I'm deploying a Task Sequence to update our company's machines Bios to mitigate the Meltdown/Spectre. It would be helpful for the enduser, that SCCM would be able to deploy the Task Sequence with a "Available" time/date and a "Deadline" time date, this way the end user is not surprised by the TS being deployed as "Required" and the auto reboot catch's them by surprise.

  10. Suppress Operating System in-place upgrade icon in Software Centre until pre-cached content is completed:

Currently we are doing in-place upgrades via a task-sequence delivered by SCCM which appears as an available install in Software Centre.

We would like to either hide or grey-out the 'Available' install operating system icon within Software Centre until the pre-cached files have been delivered to the device, to prevent the user from clicking on the install button before the files have pre-cached to the machine..

We have disabled the toast notifications warning the users that a new application is available and do not want this upgrade to be delivered as a required installation as this would then be anā€¦

  11. remove the hide button from computer restart Dialog that user cannot close

When using the client settings - computer Restart - display a dialog box the user cannot close... with a countdown interval , the dialog displayed show a hidden button that didn't work.
If people cannot hide the dialog, then why not 'hide' the hide button ? That button creates expectations that are not met, and thus frustration.

  12. Software Center - Show policy version

It would be quite useful if Software Center under Options and perhaps next to the Sync Policy button, if you'd have information about what policy version is currently applied. When clicking on the Sync Policy button and a newer policy version is applied, the version would change indicating that the latest policy is applied. Naturally, it would be great if both user and machine policy versions where shown. See attached image for a (quite bad) mock-up.

  13. Continue Installation after dependency requires restart

    Around 1706/10...

Available applications (user deployed) stopped completing installation if a dependency required a restart.

Users have to go into software center and initiate the application again to continue the installation. Repeat for every dep that requires a restart.

  14. Software Center - Allow changing "Install" and "Reinstall" text for Package/Program deployments

Sometimes we make scripts or other tools available to End Users deployed as Available. When users see this in Software Center, they either see "Install" or "Reinstall" buttons.

In this scenario, we are typically just "Executing" or "Running" the script and nothing ever actually gets "Installed" so it would nice to have the option on these types of Programs to adjust the button text so it more accurately reflects what we are doing with it.

  15. Foreground color for Softwarecenter

When choosing white colour schema you have white letters with white foreground. Would be great if we can choose the foreground colour or if the letters keep black even when you mark Items on white colour schema.

  16. Hide software center from some users, availible to others

Provide a security group based method to hide software center from showing in the start menu. For example, domain users would not even see it in the start menu, but administrators would. The /ExcludeFeatures is a step in the right direction, but overkill for some customers who still want admins to have access.

  17. Notifications require to improve the user experience better in Certain areas

    Notifications:

Reboot notification message for application/package deployments:

when an application or a package requires a reboot, if it is a mandatory deployment, it will show a notification in system tray based on the 'Computer Restart' Client settings.
But, it would be grateful if we have a notification message to show to the end users after the installation.
This is been recently added for Task Sequence based deployments. There a is a tab ā€˜User notificationā€™ in the properties of Task Sequence.
Likewise, if we get this option for Application based and package based deployments, but with options to customize the messageā€¦

  18. Make the request text box a required field for applications that require approval in Software Center

For applications that require an approval in Software Center, make the text box on the request screen a required field, preventing the user from submitting the request until a reason is given. Also maybe make the text box title "Reason for request" - or better yet make the title customizable per application. As it is now, we get most requests with a "blank" text box requiring us to circle back with the user to get this information prior to approving the application.

  19. Add revision automatically under application in software center (1511+)

Please add (display) the application revision automatically under the application that is available in software center . This makes troubleshooting for helpdesk / system admin more easy .

  20. Software Center showing apps that failed or no longer advertised

Software Center showing apps that failed or no longer advertised, when apps fail still show up as Available Software, could we get another category (Failed Installs) that doesn't keep popping up and reminding users. Put text field somewhere next to "Installed Software"
