  1. Software Center should display when machine and user policy last updated

It could be nice to have a possibility to se e.g. in Softwarecenter when computer and user polices were updates last time.

  2. Allow user messaging

It would be nice to have a ability to show custom messages to inform the user that a software installation is in progress and the computer must not be restarted or disconnect from the network.
    Something similar to outlook notifications.
This should be specific for each package/application; and it should be available at least at begin/end of installation (or even in case of error)

I would like the start menu shortcut for software center on POSReady 2009 to work. We have POSReady 2009, which I believe is supported, and the start menu .lnk for the Software Center shortcut is not working due to "softwarecenter:" being the target in the shortcut. When you try to launch software center from the shortcut, we receive the following error: "Unable to open this Internet Shortcut. The protocol "softwarecenter" does not have a registered program." I don't believe there is a "softwarecenter" file type. :)

  5. Software Center customization for USERS

I really like the recent improvements to customize and brand Software Center. However, it we are only able to target Computer collections. We have a need to be able to target a USER collection.

For example, we want our end-users to see a different Software Center then our Admin and Tech users.

In future development, could you consider expanding this option?.

Also, it would be nice to be able to differentiate applications deployed to Users vs. Computers from within Software Center. One thing I miss about the old Software Center is it only showed advertisements to Computers, and you had…

  6. Allow to defer installation / update / whatever for X hours / days from the time a user first sees a notification

Sometimes it's useful to allow a user who has been away for some time to defer an installation for the same amount of time (in days) that other users had (e.g. Win10 Feature Updates) rather than defer until a hard deadline. It would be great to specify that an installation or update could be deferred by the user for X amount of time since the first time they were actually notified. Perhaps as a bonus also have the ability to still have a hard deadline furhter in the future.

e.g. Users have 2 weeks to install the feature update from…

  7. Make Software Center Links Trusted by Office

Software Center's ability to produce a direct link to an available application is great, however when you send the resulting link via email the end user gets a "Unsafe Location" warning prompt. Please add an option to automatically add the softwarecenter: location to the list of trusted locations in office, similarly to how there is an option to add the app catalog to the list of trusted sites. The exact regkey needed is below.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\<version>\Common\Security\Trusted Protocols\All Applications\softwarecenter:

  8. Ability to customize SoftwareCenter icon size and views

I realize there are already some request for custom icons, but please make the icons smaller or better yet: make the default views customizable.
The List view still wastes too much space. Also you should be able to sort by klicking on the row headers.

I am still using the old SW center because it is much easier to view, especially for the updates.
Speaking of the updates view, the install all button is good, but when you switch to selecting there is no select all. Which would be very helpful if you just want to skip ONE single update…

  9. Next available maintenace window - Improvements

Great work on the improvements on the new software center – especially the next available Maintenance Window … but … why stuff it under need a tab and then a subtab ?

A few reasons why I want it in the top right corner :

    1. I really think an end user is not going to drill down to the tab below to find the info. The user and helpdesk really want to see it when they open software center . What is going on in detail , can be found under a subtab for all I care .

  10. Software Center Command Line Switch Addition

Software Center Command Line Switch Addition

It is not currently possible to choose between the All and Upcoming views on the Installation status page in Software Center via command line.

We would love to have a programmatic call the Upcoming view for end users on their maintenance window day. This way, we can (forcibly but kindly) inform people of what's about to happen to their device(s).

This is what it might look like: "C:\WINDOWS\CCM\ClientUX\SCClient.exe" softwarecenter:Page=InstallationStatus FilterType=0 SortType=6 View=Upcoming" <-- The "View" switch is the addition.

P.S. Long live Banco de Gaia!

  11. Suppress "New software is available" for hidden tabs

In newer versions of SCCM CB, we've had the option of hiding certain tabs in Software Center, which has been immensely useful in allowing us to present a cleaner, focused interface to end-users. Among other tabs, we choose to hide the "Operating Systems" tab, since we administer task sequence deployments end-to-end.

However, when we make a task sequence available to those clients, the "New software is available" notification is still displayed for those deployments, and visiting the Software Center obviously won't allow the user to see the deployment. Needless to say, this makes for a confusing UX. Setting "Show notifications…

  12. Add License Details/Cost to Software Center

Add the ability to display License Terms and Costs for Applications published in Software Center.

Having a separate call out for License Cost, Term (Quarterly, Bi-Annual, Yearly, etc.) can help employees make better informed decisions before downloading software. In addition, having this published in unique fields (outside the general Notes field) enables automation capabilities when connecting to SAM solutions as these values could then be auto-updated, etc. or used to trigger license assignment on the backend.

  13. Add view to Software Center to track deployments

Add a tab that displays the history of all changes (TS, Packages, Applications, Updates, Compliance Remediation, ...) done by ConfigMgr Client. This should be possible to order by date or Name. It should also keep track of changes by packages that were deployed and run in the past, but are not deployed anymore.
In best case provide this as an WMI class, which can be added to HINV optionally.

  14. Software Center sometimes looks for old application revisions

Sometimes when updating applications I notice that Software Center will still look for an old revision of the application. Application is deployed to a user collection, and even after running the user action in the client on the machine, it still looks for the old revision. If I delete that revision from the console and try to install again, it will just immediately fail because it can't find that revision. I end up having to run all the user actions and wait a few minutes in order to fix it.

  15. software center - options section

Being able to configure the Software Center options section settings in the client settings. Example being able to specify business hours from the GUI instead of having to create CI/Baseline with PowerShell scripts....

  17. Simplifiy and increase visibility of the system tray icons

The system tray icons for Software Center and Software Updates are too small for most users to decipher. Most users cannot tell that the system tray icon for pending software is a package with a green or red asterisk--there us just too much detail and the asterisk it too small. Even on a desktop monitor we cannot tell what the icon is, but on a high resolution laptop, you need a magnifying glass. Please simplify the icons and make to color coded portion most of the icon.

  18. Possibility to set for how long and deploy application should be ""new"

I would like the Possibility to set for how long and deploy application should be ""new" in Software Center
Today it's say every time I log on that i have I new application available in software center.
I might already have installed or don't want to install it.
Should be good that we have a setting that control this so we could set it to show 2-3 time or for 1-2 day

  19. Allow using a custom icon for software center

The new branding options in Software Center are fantastic. With the ability to add a logo and web content, it really does look fantastic and users seem to have been receptive.

The final touch would be the ability to customize the icon on the start menu through client settings. We could do that in a GPO, but it's clunky.

  20. Software: Protocol Handler for Chrome Firefox etc

Most of us have web portals where users log tickets, issues, etc. While the application catalog was available we always had a url that we could add to our portal allowing users to browse software.

While the development team for ConfigMgr have allowed direct linking to software using a url, it seems that browsers like chrome and firefox do not know that software: should be the default protocol handler to open Software Center. So this forces them to have to select it as the default manually.

We would like these to be registered for all users.

    This would be mean…
