  1. Software Center Updates Node - (re)enable sorting

In older versions of SCCM, you could sort on "Status", "Publisher" and "Name" in the Updates node of Software Center.

This was very helpful when installing updates - being able to sort on status in particular ("pending verification", "restart pending", "installing", etc.)

    Please bring this functionality back.

  2. Software Center Error - Display Error Code Details

When a deployment fails in Software Center, and you click the "Failed" link, it will then show an error code. Ten, we have to Google (excuse me, I mean Bing) the error code or look in CMTrace to find out what it means. Could Software Center do the same thing that CMTrace does, and look up the error and display what it means there in the Software Center window?

  3. Select all Apps in a Category in Software Center

Add a "Select All" when you filter apps by category. This would allow our Accounting users to install ALL of the accounting apps without have to check dozens of boxes.

  4. Software Center Share URL (Deployment Property)

Please can we display the software center share url in the deployment properties of the deployment. This way if we would like to share the URL of a deployment to a user which us as the admins are not part of

We can go to the deployment tab and copy and paste the share url to the user with out having to add our computers to the deployment collection, update the collection, update policy's then get the shared url, then we email the url, then we have to remember to remove our computers from the collection.

  5. Direct Rule or Query Rule based on user device affinity

I deploy apps through SCCM. To deploy a required app to a user that has user device affinity. This eliminates multiple installs when that user logs onto another device. I would like to be able to cerate a query rule or direct query for a collection based on a AD Group that allows me to select a user/computer and have that attached to user device affinity. Deploying applications to only those systems that the user is the primary user. This way users don't get unintended applications installed on lets say a conference room.

  6. Show localized descriptions for programs in all Software Center view options

We use our Software Center for a LOT of apps for general user use. The general complaint I have received lately is that there are so many apps users don't know what is optional and what is recommended for our domain. I am recommending the option or change to include some of the localized description OR at the very least show the User categories for each application in all the view modes for Software Center to help users determine if they are optional or recommended software. All views already show publisher and version.

  7. Enable Forced Reboots After A Certain Period of Time Despite User Control

I would like an option where we can set a window of availability where the end users can postpone a reboot after an update but then is forced to reboot anyway after a certain period of time.

What I mean is that yes, the users get the Software Update Center window that allows them to customize their options but if they don't reboot within a certain period of time, it'll reboot anyway.

  8. Do something with Operating System tab

When deploying a custom task sequence that only contains applications and no operating system it confuses our users.

Suggest to rename Operating System tab with something else like Package Bundles. Or (after you add icon support for task sequences) have custom task sequences in the Applications tab instead of Operating Systems.

  9. Software Center Command Line Switch Addition

Software Center Command Line Switch Addition

It is not currently possible to choose between the All and Upcoming views on the Installation status page in Software Center via command line.

We would love to have a programmatic call the Upcoming view for end users on their maintenance window day. This way, we can (forcibly but kindly) inform people of what's about to happen to their device(s).

This is what it might look like: "C:\WINDOWS\CCM\ClientUX\SCClient.exe" softwarecenter:Page=InstallationStatus FilterType=0 SortType=6 View=Upcoming" <-- The "View" switch is the addition.

P.S. Long live Banco de Gaia!

  11. Suppress "New software is available" for hidden tabs

In newer versions of SCCM CB, we've had the option of hiding certain tabs in Software Center, which has been immensely useful in allowing us to present a cleaner, focused interface to end-users. Among other tabs, we choose to hide the "Operating Systems" tab, since we administer task sequence deployments end-to-end.

However, when we make a task sequence available to those clients, the "New software is available" notification is still displayed for those deployments, and visiting the Software Center obviously won't allow the user to see the deployment. Needless to say, this makes for a confusing UX. Setting "Show notificationsā€¦

  12. Limit Simultaneous Application Downloads in Software Center

When machine gets rebuilt and the client discovers all of the requred software deployments it previously had, it attempts to download them all at the same time. More than half the time the client gets stuck due to this and needs to be reinstalled for software deployments to continue (sometimes multiple times before it gets everything installed). It would seem that if we had the ability to set an allowed number of simultaneious downloads (lets say 5 at a time), this problem wouldn't occur.

We install lots of applicaions in our lab environments due to shared lab spaces.

  14. Software: Protocol Handler for Chrome Firefox etc

Most of us have web portals where users log tickets, issues, etc. While the application catalog was available we always had a url that we could add to our portal allowing users to browse software.

While the development team for ConfigMgr have allowed direct linking to software using a url, it seems that browsers like chrome and firefox do not know that software: should be the default protocol handler to open Software Center. So this forces them to have to select it as the default manually.

We would like these to be registered for all users.

    This would be meanā€¦

  15. Change Custom Tab from using IE Engine

I would like the ability to be able to change the browser engine that is used in the Custom Tab in Software Center. Currently it is using IE and I would like to be able to change it to use another browser. I prefer Chrome but would at least settle for Edge.

  16. Software Center

Ability to sort applications in Software Center not from the "Sort by:" pull down, but rather by clicking on the Heading of the section you want to sort. This would be more in line with how Excel tables allow you to sort by field by clicking on the column header.

  17. Suppress Operating System in-place upgrade icon in Software Centre until pre-cached content is completed:

Currently we are doing in-place upgrades via a task-sequence delivered by SCCM which appears as an available install in Software Centre.

We would like to either hide or grey-out the 'Available' install operating system icon within Software Centre until the pre-cached files have been delivered to the device, to prevent the user from clicking on the install button before the files have pre-cached to the machine..

We have disabled the toast notifications warning the users that a new application is available and do not want this upgrade to be delivered as a required installation as this would then be anā€¦

  19. SCCM Application Approval E-Mail User Manager

Add either a powershell cmdlet for application approval that allows for a parameter of e-mail to allow administrator to create scheduled function to query users manager through AD, or to add the ability set in the deployment to look up the users manager according to AD - in addition to the default e-mail to the SCCM administrators.

  20. I would like to see some kind of exception tab for Software installs based on user device or user device affinity.

I would like to a have an exception tab so I can put certain users or certain devices in this tab. This tab would be available after creating an application in the console and can be accessed from properties of the application the software library. This allows for those user or devices in which we have certain rollout of software or application that could be rolled out to most devices of a company but not install for something like a manufacturing device that needs to stay on an older version of software or not have the software installed at all.
