  1. Microsoft Systems Management Server and Clustered Server Environments

The SMS initial design did not include support for any form of clustered server; therefore services such as the SMS_Executive service were not written to handle the failure of a clustered system. For this reason, Microsoft does not support any version of SMS in a cluster server environment.

In SMS versions 1.x, clustered drives caused problems to several services on a site server, many of which were sub-threads of the SMS_Executive service. For this reason, SMS version 1.x was not supported on clustered servers. SMS version 1.x was designed to be able to recover on its own from certain failures.ā€¦

  2. For software that requires approval, also make the dialog box to submit reason require data.

Currently the dialog box does not require data, so users will just hit submith with typing anything.

  3. Download size in Software Center

As currently as version 1702, the download size for all of the applications and packages in Software Center show "less than 1 MB" and won't show the correct size until after you start the install. This has been happening for a long time.

  4. SCCM 1702 Required Software Dialog has no details link to Software Center

Before 1702 the user could click "Details" to see what software was required. That option is now gone and the user is presented only with options to install "Right now" or later. They can click the "X" to exit without installing anything but the default is to install "Right now" and the "OK" button is prominently displayed so that users will tend to click that even if they don't have a good opportunity to actually install software at that time. Users want to know what is being installed and decide accordingly.

  5. Notifications require to improve the user experience better in Certain areas

    Notifications:

Reboot notification message for application/package deployments:

when an application or a package requires a reboot, if it is a mandatory deployment, it will show a notification in system tray based on the 'Computer Restart' Client settings.
But, it would be grateful if we have a notification message to show to the end users after the installation.
This is been recently added for Task Sequence based deployments. There a is a tab ā€˜User notificationā€™ in the properties of Task Sequence.
Likewise, if we get this option for Application based and package based deployments, but with options to customize the messageā€¦

  7. Improve application and task sequence behavior with SSD Hard Drives (metadata race conditions)

When a new system initially gets the SCCM Client installed and runs its initial scan for applications, machines with SSD Hard Drives (and even some machines without that are 'too fast') end up in a condition where the metadata failed to fully load. In this scenario, applications end up not getting listed in Software Center that the machine would otherwise be eligible (or even required) to have.
Modifying code found online, we have a Baseline Configuration that runs on systems to detect applications with missing metadata and then re-run the scan with a delay added; this resolves the problem andā€¦

  9. Expand Deep Linking to other "Installable" items

The links to applications feature in 1702/1706 is great! Could this be expanded to other items that are "installable", i.e. Packages, Software Updates, OS Task Sequences?

  10. The text in Software Center is so small

I get questions about why the text in Software Center is so small and difficult to read. Is it possible to make the text larger and maybe in black?

  11. Customize the notification bar on SCCM client to display the content download progress (in percentage) and its status

Need to have a option to customize the notification bar on SCCM client to display the status of content download progress (in percentage) and its installation status for Patches, Applications and Task sequence deployment.

  12. Deploy OSD from Software Center as Required TS

When pushing OSD from Software Center it works ok if made Available but always fails if pushed as Required. Would like to see Software Center wait until ALL portions of the Policy are downloaded before allowing it to proceed or show in SC

  13. Reword Dialog "Software changes must be applied to your computer after..."

"Software changes must be applied to your computer after xx/xx/xxxx"

The wording here is kind of awkward in this dialog box. Saying that the updates "must be applied after" hints that the user might have to apply these updates manually after the deadline. I've had calls from users wondering if we want them to do something after the deadline. I think the dialog's intention would be clearer if it said something like:

"Software changes will automatically be applied to your computer after XX/XX/XXXX at XX:XX AM/PM"

  14. Scan for new software in software center

We pin the software center to the Start Menu in Windows 10. We would like there to be a user friendly option, say a "Check for new software!" button that they can press that triggers the appropriate policy actions to run behind the scenes. It's cumbersome to have to go into the client and trigger the policy options manually.

I have even included a screenshot of how it should look!

  15. Task Sequence Property - Software Center class

Task Sequence Property - Software Center class
Currently, Task Sequences only show up under OS Deployments list. There are many people who utilize task sequences for application based deployments and setups on systems out there. For it to only show here on the new Software Center makes it confusing for end users.

Solution: Dropdown menu on Task Sequence properties to tag it for either the OS Deployments or Application categories on software center. This way, it can easily be controlled where it needs to show up.

  16. SCCM Client - Start TS before anything else

When multiple advertisement are deployed on a computer, let's say a TS for a new OS and an apps, if both have deadline and are past due, the apps get installed first. There should be an option in the TS deployment to prevent that. Samething for Windows Update. Right now I,m trying to take a computer from W7 to W10 and since it was offline for the past 3 months, it has started all windows Update and Software Update before starting the TS. But I'm doing a wipe and load of a new OS, don't need to install all this...

  17. AutoVPN profile does not have an AlwaysOn option in SCCM VPN profile Wizard

There is no option in SCCM VPN profile wizard for AlwaysON autovpn solution. Both HP companies are around 300,000 users trying to implement autoVPN solution and need to have this option added.
There has been already discussions with the PM's around this subject.

  19. Make it possible to repeate the pop up message for new available software

The Icon in the systray is to small. Users will not look at this to check if there is an new software available. So make a config setting for the admins that users will be notified with a pop up message in a time Intervall (for example every 2 hours) and when if the Installation deadline is lower then 2 hours everey 15 minutes.

  20. Remove available software from Softwarecenter

When I request a software or application on a client machine over the application catalog this will apear in the Softwarecenter under 'available software'.

Sometimes it happens that some users are requesting a software / application form application catalog by accident.

It would be great if there would be an option to manage this as an administration, like remove this application from softwarecenter (available software) without installing it before.

Something like remove an explicit software/application under 'available software' from an explicit device.

    Thank you.
