  1. Task Sequence Property - Software Center class

Task Sequence Property - Software Center class
Currently, Task Sequences only show up under OS Deployments list. There are many people who utilize task sequences for application based deployments and setups on systems out there. For it to only show here on the new Software Center makes it confusing for end users.

Solution: Dropdown menu on Task Sequence properties to tag it for either the OS Deployments or Application categories on software center. This way, it can easily be controlled where it needs to show up.

  2. Change behaviour for Software center icon with transparent background

For some reason the transparent icons in SWC turns out grey, instead of blending in with the background of the SWC.
Would be nice if they matched the background instead.

  3. Show update installation progress percentage

Show the installation progress percentage for installing Microsoft Updates in Software Center, as is being shown in the native Windows Update App starting Windows 10 1709.

Especially for bigger Cumulative Updates, it's hard to guess when it will be done without a progress indicator.
If you install the .msu files from the Update Catalog, you'll see a progress bar in the GUI - that should be translated to installation percentage.

  4. software center custom notification

I often get questions from users saying "is this legit?" referring to the toast/balloon notifications presented on their desktop from Software Center. The notification states "Software changes are required. Your IT department requires changes to the software on your computer. click here for options." This could easily be confused with spoof antivirus popups claiming your computer needs to be fixed!

I would like the ability to customize these notifications in the Administration > Client Settings node > Computer Agent settings. The "Organization name displayed in Software Center" shows on the Title page AFTER you open SC, but it would beā€¦

  5. Stronger user notification when software installs are pending

On the lock screen - create a message that says: you have software ready to install in XX days (or by xx date, yy time) - when software is available and waiting for the install deadline. This way it is visible to users as they come back from lunch or meeting or bio.
Even better if you can make the screen change color (GAR) as the date gets closer ...

  6. Prevent Countdown Timer from Moving off the edges of the Screen

We have set policy so that users receive the countdown timer with the HIDE button grayed out. This is to prevent users from clicking Hide, then forgetting about the timer and getting rebooted later in the day.

Users are now moving the countdown timer window off to the edge of the screen as a way around this. Then they forget about it. Get rebooted and open a ticket with the helpdesk. We have over 60K users, and this does generate a significant # of tickets.

Is it possible to prevent the window from moving off the edges of the screen?

  7. Download size in Software Center

As currently as version 1702, the download size for all of the applications and packages in Software Center show "less than 1 MB" and won't show the correct size until after you start the install. This has been happening for a long time.

  8. Scan for new software in software center

We pin the software center to the Start Menu in Windows 10. We would like there to be a user friendly option, say a "Check for new software!" button that they can press that triggers the appropriate policy actions to run behind the scenes. It's cumbersome to have to go into the client and trigger the policy options manually.

I have even included a screenshot of how it should look!

  9. Software Center - Show policy version

It would be quite useful if Software Center under Options and perhaps next to the Sync Policy button, if you'd have information about what policy version is currently applied. When clicking on the Sync Policy button and a newer policy version is applied, the version would change indicating that the latest policy is applied. Naturally, it would be great if both user and machine policy versions where shown. See attached image for a (quite bad) mock-up.

  10. AutoVPN profile does not have an AlwaysOn option in SCCM VPN profile Wizard

There is no option in SCCM VPN profile wizard for AlwaysON autovpn solution. Both HP companies are around 300,000 users trying to implement autoVPN solution and need to have this option added.
There has been already discussions with the PM's around this subject.

  11. Notifications require to improve the user experience better in Certain areas

    Notifications:

Reboot notification message for application/package deployments:

when an application or a package requires a reboot, if it is a mandatory deployment, it will show a notification in system tray based on the 'Computer Restart' Client settings.
But, it would be grateful if we have a notification message to show to the end users after the installation.
This is been recently added for Task Sequence based deployments. There a is a tab ā€˜User notificationā€™ in the properties of Task Sequence.
Likewise, if we get this option for Application based and package based deployments, but with options to customize the messageā€¦

  12. Add a 'Check for Updates' button in Software Center updates tab

Add a 'Check for updates' button to Software Center.
It will let users have more control over their client through a familiar interface, and allow local service desks an easy way to have an end user check for updates that does not include opening a control panel icon.

  13. Install applications on startup or shutdown

we just search for the option to install oder uninstall applications and packages at shutdown /logoff.
when we upgraded from office2013 to 2016 the users got crazy because office 2013 was uninstalled and than 2016 installed. in the time between uninstall and install nobody was able to work with office.

this is our greateat wish for sccm

  14. Software Center sometimes looks for old application revisions

Sometimes when updating applications I notice that Software Center will still look for an old revision of the application. Application is deployed to a user collection, and even after running the user action in the client on the machine, it still looks for the old revision. If I delete that revision from the console and try to install again, it will just immediately fail because it can't find that revision. I end up having to run all the user actions and wait a few minutes in order to fix it.

  15. Expand Deep Linking to other "Installable" items

The links to applications feature in 1702/1706 is great! Could this be expanded to other items that are "installable", i.e. Packages, Software Updates, OS Task Sequences?

  16. Software Center: Add Ability to Launch the Application

Would like to have the ability for the end user to not just install an available deployment, but also launch it there. The way I envision this happening is once the user has installed an available deployment, the "Install" button would change to a "Launch" button, and the Uninstall button would be perhaps a separate button, etc., or perhaps even the icon of the application could be used to launch it and the Install/Uninstall behavior could remain the same.

The benefit of this would be (1) if you removed the start menu or other entry points to the application andā€¦

  17. Available application which is not applicable must not show up in Software Center

[This is sort of an extension to https://configurationmanager.uservoice.com/forums/300492-ideas/suggestions/13002684-software-center-show-only-available-software-hid?]

Obviously, we can create applications with multiple deployment types in SCCM, each with its own set of requirements. Now say I create a simple MSI-based application with one deployment type, which has a requirement that Primary device must be true. If I make this available to a user collection, then it shows up for each of those users on their primary devices as available in Software Center. All great so far.

However, if one of those users logs in to a non-primary device, the application still shows up as available, andā€¦

  18. Software Center: Add categories to maching targetted deployments.

The new Software Center in 1511 should also categorize Applications using the user category even if it is not deployed to users but systems instead. It should reflect the user category no matter what.

  19. SCCM updates: User Experience - Reboot notifications

Here is the User experience for the update process as I understand it:

    1. System tray balloon appears saying 'software changes are required'

    2. System tray balloon appears saying 'downloading and installing software'

    3. System tray balloon appears saying 'Restart required: Recently installed updates require your machine to be restarted'

    4. *It is here I would like the larger temporary notification reboot window to appear but it doesn't.

    5. Permanent notification reboot window appears and stays on the screen

I would like option 4 to be possible. Without this it seems quite easy for users to miss seeing the balloonā€¦
