  1. Software center shortcut language

It's not really a high priority suggestion, but it needs to be revised. The software center shortcut is in english when Windows 10 system is in FR-CA. ("Software Center" instead of "Centre Logiciel"). The configuration manager properties in the control panel is also in english, but the Software Center main panel language is in french as it should. We don't have this trouble when we are in a FR-FR Windows 10. Actually, our workaround is to create a new shortcut for the users (with softwarecenter:).

  2. Software Center showing apps that failed or no longer advertised

Software Center showing apps that failed or no longer advertised, when apps fail still show up as Available Software, could we get another category (Failed Installs) that doesn't keep popping up and reminding users. Put text field somewhere next to "Installed Software"

  3. Make the request text box a required field for applications that require approval in Software Center

For applications that require an approval in Software Center, make the text box on the request screen a required field, preventing the user from submitting the request until a reason is given. Also maybe make the text box title "Reason for request" - or better yet make the title customizable per application. As it is now, we get most requests with a "blank" text box requiring us to circle back with the user to get this information prior to approving the application.

  4. Allow the Deployment of a Task Sequence to have a "Available" date and a "Deadline Date" .

I'm deploying a Task Sequence to update our company's machines Bios to mitigate the Meltdown/Spectre. It would be helpful for the enduser, that SCCM would be able to deploy the Task Sequence with a "Available" time/date and a "Deadline" time date, this way the end user is not surprised by the TS being deployed as "Required" and the auto reboot catch's them by surprise.

  5. remove the hide button from computer restart Dialog that user cannot close

When using the client settings - computer Restart - display a dialog box the user cannot close... with a countdown interval , the dialog displayed show a hidden button that didn't work.
If people cannot hide the dialog, then why not 'hide' the hide button ? That button creates expectations that are not met, and thus frustration.

  6. Hyperlinks for task sequences in software center

All hyperlinks for Task Sequences in software center.

Emailing instructions to users to run a task sequence it would be beneficial if I could use a hyperlink in the email to direct users to the correct page to run the task sequence.

you can create a hyperlinks for applications, why not Task Sequences?

  7. Add a Right-Click option "Sync Policies" to Software Center Start menu icon

The Company Portal app you can right-click on the Start Menu shortcut and select "Sync this Device". Can we please get that option for Software Center as well, it would make ServiceDesks life easier instead of navigating them to the icon within Software Center

  8. SCCM CB 1806 - Software Center slow to load "available" user-deployed apps

In SCCM CB 1806, we're no longer leveraging the AppCatalog roles for User-deployed applications With that said, I spoke to Mark Silvey and Raghu Kethineni at MS Ignite to express some concerns around how long it takes Software Center to load (50 seconds to over 1 minute) the initial list of applications after a user launches Software Center. We have A LOT of apps we make available to users.

Is there any way to speed this up from an IIS / Management Point perspective (cmuser service authentication / lookup ? )

Or maybe perform an initial query of '50 apps'…

  9. Notifications require to improve the user experience better in Certain areas

    Notifications:

Reboot notification message for application/package deployments:

when an application or a package requires a reboot, if it is a mandatory deployment, it will show a notification in system tray based on the 'Computer Restart' Client settings.
But, it would be grateful if we have a notification message to show to the end users after the installation.
This is been recently added for Task Sequence based deployments. There a is a tab ‘User notification’ in the properties of Task Sequence.
Likewise, if we get this option for Application based and package based deployments, but with options to customize the message…

  10. Import and Export within Exclusion Settings for Antimalware Policies

Import and Export within Exclusion Settings for Antimalware Policies for people moving over from other vendors would be so helpful. The option to sort alphabetically also would be a good option. Cut and paste option is poor currently due to size limitations.

  11. Hide software center from some users, availible to others

Provide a security group based method to hide software center from showing in the start menu. For example, domain users would not even see it in the start menu, but administrators would. The /ExcludeFeatures is a step in the right direction, but overkill for some customers who still want admins to have access.

  13. Allow users to plan any deployment with a time picker

    Available, required, doesn't matter.
Give users a "Plan" button, like we have with required deployments, and allow them to pick a time, and allow them to reboot after the install is done.
Right now, the "Plan" button is only present on Required deployments with a deadline.
Right now, the "Restart automatically my computer if needed" checkbox is only present if you choose "Outside my business hours".

Yes, this is a three-for-one. Inspired by Brian Dam's tweet https://twitter.com/bdam555/status/1220469791284219904

Use case 1: User has been instructed to install an available application, but is busy working. User plans the install for 11:30, where…

  14. Speed up Software Centre searches by returning user results first

Currently Software Centre searches the computer WMI for applications to install then uses the MP to get user results.

User results are returned instantly where as WMI can take a long time on slower computers.
If the user results were returned first it would be a better experience.

  15. Allow immediate restart after user-initiated installation in Software Center

If a user initiated the installation of a required deployment (say a feature update) before the deadline, I think we should have an option somewhere, maybe in the deployment settings or in client settings or in Software Center itself, to allow the user to restart the computer immediately.

The current behavior is to always respect the client settings for computer restart. But I think that is more important for installations that start because a deadline has passed. If the user initiates a feature update installation, I don't want the computer to wait for x hours before restarting.

  16. Default expansion of 'More information' section in 'Required software changes…' dialog

By default, the 'More information' section in the 'Required software changes…' dialog, that details what software specifically will be changed, is obstructed from the user’s view because it is collapsed. To see details of the affected software, the user must manually click the caret which is not apparent to many.

Provide a client policy setting that enables the expansion of the 'More information' section in the 'Required software changes…' dialog as a default.

  17. Hide Task Sequence deployments

When deploying an application or program via a task sequence, there is no way to hide it in software center.

  18. Realtime health info of client via Software Center

This will help the 1st line support to gather more client information without having to contact 2nd line specialists, and possibly solve more incidents on their own.

The Software Center, when launched, should be able to read and display client status information and connectivity with server in a simplified UI, understandable to the Service Desk employees/ 1st line support.

This can include Policy evaluation status, connectivity with management point, certificate status, app-evaluation status, etc

  19. Suspend Software Center activities when in PowerPoint presentation mode

Currently, there exists a setting in Software Center to "suspend Software Center activities when my computer is in presentation mode." Users don't have any idea what Windows Presentation Mode is. Ideally, the setting would stop Software Center activities when PowerPoint is running a presentation. That is often when you'd want to stop Software Center from installing something anyway.

  20. Limit Simultaneous Application Downloads in Software Center

When machine gets rebuilt and the client discovers all of the requred software deployments it previously had, it attempts to download them all at the same time. More than half the time the client gets stuck due to this and needs to be reinstalled for software deployments to continue (sometimes multiple times before it gets everything installed). It would seem that if we had the ability to set an allowed number of simultaneious downloads (lets say 5 at a time), this problem wouldn't occur.

We install lots of applicaions in our lab environments due to shared lab spaces.
