  1. service connection tool - allow restart on downloads

Enable restart on downloads using Service Connection tools. Some customers are in remote and/or highly controlled sensitive environments which require the use of the Service Connection Tool. These environments can experience interruptions in internet connectivity is interrupted which cause the download to fail or even an unexpected reboot of the computer you are using to download the updates. You have downloaded 10 or 15 GB of data and you have to start all over. This is frustrating and needs to be addressed.

  2. Allow console extensions to dynamically add actions based on a function call

Add a way for ConfigMgr console extensions to dynamically define actions that show up in the context menu. Currently extensions need to define all of their actions ahead of time via an XML file. It would be nice if this XML file included support for requesting a list of actions to display from an assembly. Similar to the ActionStateAssembly definition that's used to determine if an action should be allowed, this new method would return a list of actions with the associated function pointers. Suggested method footprint / XML is attached.

  4. Add PowerShell Cmdlets for Creating, Updating and Removing Custom DDR Information

There are many use cases for using Custom Data Discovery Records (DDR) to help drive automated workflows and categorization of systems for collection queries, etc.

While we can do this automatically from Active Directory thru discovery, we don't have a similar mechanism for workgroup or AAD systems.

Having the ability to Import/Update as well as Remove custom DDR data programmatically enables more complex workflows an integration points to retrieve data out of external IT Service Management solutions to drive business processes while avoiding the use of Direct Collection Memberships.

  6. CMPIvot support in Central Server, in a Cross Forest environment

Had a Consultation ticket opened with MS Premier [Ticket #:17659929] asking assistance to enable CMPivot in Central Site Server.

Had the response that this feature is not supported/tested in a Cross Forest environment.

Can you please consider this as a feature improvment?

  7. Allow third-party code to read secret task sequence variables value

Currently there is no way to use Secret Task Sequence Variables in third-party extension to SCCM. Please, add API for this or document how to achieve this.

  9. Create a Standard (Non-Premium) Power Platform Connector for the ConfigMgr Admin Service

I would love for companies to take advantage of the Power Platform (Power Apps and Power Automate specifically) to bring #ITwithoutBorders to the Microsoft Endpoint Management platform. There are currently "two" issues with this:

    1) Since no connector has been created, any of the endpoints and entity sets you want to exposed have to be defined manually, which could be challenging for the citizen developer.

    2) Premium connectors (which include the custom connectors) are cost-prohibitive. At $10/app/user/month (or $40/user/month) I don't see this making it past a budget meeting.

If a standard connector was made, it would open up opportunitiesā€¦

  10. hashdir.exe for SCCM CB SHA256

The old version of HASHDIR.exe tool doesn't work with new version of SCCM. This could be because of SHA256 hashing of SCCM CB.
Is there any possibility to release a new version HASHDIR.exe tool for SHA256 hashed content. This would be really useful whenever SCCM admins want to perform has miss match troubleshooting ...

  11. Switch to next SUP - scripted on client

ConfigMgr agents are able to fallback to an alternative SUP if the original SUP failed - agents do not fallback to the original SUP once itā€™s available again. In this case fallback needs to be triggered manually. This can be done from the console using ā€žclient notificationā€œ ā€“ wouldnā€™t it be good to also be able to force SUP fallback on the client itself? Document a script method to switch to the next SUP that can be run on the client itself.

  12. PowerShell cmdlet "Remove-CMMaintenanceWindow" should accept Window Time as parameter

Powershell cmdlet "Remove-CMMaintenanceWindow" should accept StartTime as a parater. Current implementation only accepts limited parmaters of collectionid, and maintenance window name. If you have two windows by the same name, with different start times... you will remove both by using this utility. I suggest it should also accept the StartTime as a paramter for specific window deletion. Maintenance windows are a point in time schedule, and therefore the Point in time should be considered as a parameter for removal. The current implementation of this cmdlet is dangerous, and cannot be used for finite window removal.

  13. SMS_ConfigurationItemLatest.ObjectPath property is null

Both the iResultObject from Get-CMConfigurationItem and the SMS_ConfigurationItemLatest object returned from a WMI query have a null value as the objectpath property.

Current workaround is to make recursive queries on SMS_ObjectContainerNode to get the ObjectPath of these objects.

  14. Allow third party applications or scripts to send status messages in WinPE

Currently we have the ability to post status messages in the OS, but not under WinPE. We'd very much like to be able to report on Nomad download progress during the WinPE stage of the deployment in order to true up the new Nomad dashboard with this part of the deployment process.

It would be nice if you could open remote command prompt to client from console. Like psexec \client cmd, system account could be used.

  16. Incorporate Configuration Manager Servicing Extension's Collection Builder functionality to the main product

Today Configuration Manager Servicing Extension brings new functionality to the product but it is a separate download. It provides a list of Configuration Manager client versions that may be present in your environment, and makes it easy to create queries to locate these clients. Make this functionality built-in to the main product.

  17. MVP-Powershell for Adding EP collection to dashboard (UpdateVisibilityInEPDashBoard)

add-CMCollectionToDashboard and Remove-CMCollectionFromDashboard would be great addition to the existing powershell so the UpdateVisibilityInEPDashBoard WMI method would not be required anymore

  18. Log to ETW

It would be handy if SCCM Agent (as well as the SCCM Server components) could send logs to ETW (instead or in addition to the files under C:\Windows\CCM\Logs) folder. That would allow us to redirect the events to a central location and analyze with event analysis tools, (i.e. OMS Log Analytics, Message Analyzer, etc.).

  19. Include verbose information with import-cmpackage cmdlet

The Import-CMPackage cmdlet does not provide much in the way of verbose output with the -verbose flag. This would be useful to identify what the cmdlet is performing in the background to determine if package already exists with the same name or not.

    Steps attempted:
    $Global:VerbosePreference = "Continue"
    $Global:DebugPreference = "Continue"
    $Global:CMPSDebugLogging = $true

    import-cmpackage -ImportFilePath "\localhost\c$\Users\Testing\TestPkg.zip" -Verbose

Output: Verbose: Performing the operation "Import" on target "Package: ".

    Trace-Command -Name metadata,parameterbinding,cmdlet -Expression {Import-CMPackage -ImportFilePath "\localhost\c$\Users\Testing\TestPkg.zip" -WhatIf} -PSHost
DEBUG: ParameterBinding Information: 0 : BIND NAMED cmd line args [Import-CMPackage]
DEBUG: ParameterBinding Information: 0 : BIND arg [\localhost\c$\Users\Testing\TestPkg.zip] to parameter [ImportFilePath]

  20. redirect wake on lan broadcasts

Our clients boot and shutdown into an Authentication VLAN (for posture checking before connecting to production network). Wake on LAN wants to send broadcasts to the subnets that the clients were last discovered.

Need the ability to configure on Site Servers to send the broadcasts to a specified subnet regardless of where the client was last discovered.
