  1. Add a command line option to Support Center to connect to a remote computer

The Support Center utility is a great addition but doesn't seem to support specifying a remote computer to connect to from the command line. This would allow it to be called automatically from scripts and other tools.

This is option is implemented for the remote control viewer by running: CmRcViewer.exe <remote-computer>

Likewise it would be great to be able to call the Support Center thus:
    ConfigMgrSupportCenter.exe <remote-computer>

  2. Commandlet to get the cmsitebackupstatus

We have get-cmsoftwareupdatesync command to get the Software update synchronization status.
Like the same, if we have get-cmsitebackupstatus command it will be easy to get the last backup info.

  3. Need Get-CMDetectionClause cmdlet

Could we have a get-cmdetectionclause command? I'd like to be able to get an existing detection clause for a deployment which would be useful for not only managing existing detection clauses but being able to explore and re-using them for other applications.

As it is right now I use get-cmapplication | get-cmdeploymenttype | select SDMPackageXML in order to view the detection method as XML.

  4. ServiceConnectionTool.exe - progress indicator and resume downloading

Right now it's really hard to guess how long it takes and what serviceconnectiontool.exe is doing. Is there any possibility to add some progress indicator which will tell how much elements should be downloaded, and where is it right now that little utility? Estimated size of downloading also would be helpfull. Moving files outside of pen during downloading is not a good idea, and there's no info how much more space will be needed to download all needed files. Also resuming after connection failed will be welcome. This tool should help users.

  5. Transaction support for PowerShell cmdlets

today when using powershell cmdlet the action is performed direct against the server, as example, if you want to create an application, add couple of deployment types and perform other small changes, you end up with lots of revisions (easily, 10). when you have lots of revisions, this start to impact the performance.

it would be nice if we can have the cmdlets transactional, in this case, you create the object and the changes does not apply to the database, you need to "save" the change.

on the application example, you could create the application, create the dt's, changes, etc.ā€¦

  7. Improve WOL functionality with default MAC and IP address configuration

It would be nice if we could specify a default MAC on device import. This way we could set the hard-wired MAC as the default. Or if there is a way to detect hard-wired vs wireless MAC so we can exclude the wireless MAC for WOL.

The other piece to this is the broadcast address. We would need a way to specify the broadcast address for the wired IP address? Currently when we remove a laptop from a cart or dock it connects to wireless and then the last registered address in SCCM is for the wireless.

    Maybe we couldā€¦

  8. Add "color" (i.e. error level) filtering to cmtrace

I open cmtrace for one reason: to find the red lines. Just thinking about opening a log file and dragging the scroll bar around triggers my carpal tunnel.

Please add a button to quickly toggle between showing "all", "only errors (red)", and "only warnings and errors (yellow and red)".

The logic (however rudimentary it may be) is already there. This is really only a (huge quality of life) GUI/view change.

  9. Allow Console Extensions to access the Connected Site Code and Connected Server

Allow Console Extensions to access the Connected Site Code and Connected Server when launched from areas in the console that aren't IResultObjects. When an extension is launched from a node such as Applications or Packages, we no longer can use the ##SUB:Server## or ##SUB:Namespace## fields. Similarly for assembly based extensions, the IResultObject is null and we can't get at the IResultObject.ConnectionManager property.

  12. Add a cmdlet to delete (or at least disable) a Client Settings deployment (cmclientsettingsdeployment)

There is currently no cmdlet to delete or disable a deployment of Client Settings. You can create a deployment by using the Start-CMClientSettingDeployment cmdlet but there is absolutely no way of stopping, deleting, or disabling the deployment. If you run a Get-CMDeployment against a collection, it only returns all deployments except a Client Setting.

  13. Make "client notifications" scriptable

Administrators can use the "client notification" feature from the admin console to trigger actions clients. This is a very useful feature - it would be even more useful, if this actions could be scripted. Pls. document how to script "client notification" actions.

  14. Allow console extensions to dynamically add actions based on a function call

Add a way for ConfigMgr console extensions to dynamically define actions that show up in the context menu. Currently extensions need to define all of their actions ahead of time via an XML file. It would be nice if this XML file included support for requesting a list of actions to display from an assembly. Similar to the ActionStateAssembly definition that's used to determine if an action should be allowed, this new method would return a list of actions with the associated function pointers. Suggested method footprint / XML is attached.

  15. Dedicated SCCM website: wikis, forums, blogs

I haven't found any good information on how to prerequisite any Java - not a specific version, always the newest - for an application. It would be nice to have a place to ask such things (and please don't refer me to the TechNet forum; try find any info like that there, or even ask such a question, you're better of -> see below: scattered)

A dedicated SCCM website with user and microsoft staff wikis, forums, blogs etc. all in one place hosted by Microsoft (or anyone else really it wouldn't matter, but not that scattered all over the place/internetā€¦

  16. Running ConfigMgr Control Panel applet actions should ignore throttling settings

When running an action from the ConfigMgr control panel applet, e.g. "File Collection" or "Software Inventory" the action should be executed immediatley and not respect the throttling settings. Internally it should be handled differently whether an action is triggered by the scheduler or an user.

  18. Add PowerShell Cmdlets for Creating, Updating and Removing Custom DDR Information

There are many use cases for using Custom Data Discovery Records (DDR) to help drive automated workflows and categorization of systems for collection queries, etc.

While we can do this automatically from Active Directory thru discovery, we don't have a similar mechanism for workgroup or AAD systems.

Having the ability to Import/Update as well as Remove custom DDR data programmatically enables more complex workflows an integration points to retrieve data out of external IT Service Management solutions to drive business processes while avoiding the use of Direct Collection Memberships.

  20. API/PowerShell cmdlet to manage/automate CMG certificate renewals

Companies are looking for alternatives to the large public CA authorities like Verisign and DigiCert, one such alternative is Let's Encypt. They offer free public-signed certificates, the only problem is the certificates need to be renewed every 90 days. The renewal can be automated using Certbot.

However there does not appear to be any functionality in the current ConfigMgr release to allow for automated certificate replacement/renewal. This seems to be a gap in the PowerShell functionality.

Sure its only a few minutes every 90 days to log into the console open up the CMG instance and update the certificate, andā€¦
